The thing is, the TL-S is pre equipped with performance parts. So if you want to tune your own car, the TL is the wrong way to go. Very little aftermarket parts available.
The SE-R costs considerably less new, and much less used, and has MUCH more options for custom tuning. You can find aftermarket body kits, lights, and performance parts on the nissan.
If you want a status simbol, get the TL.
If you want a serios toy you can tinker with, get the Nissan.

Personally, I couldn't care less if someone beat me in a race in an Altima SE-R. For me it isn't about speed. It's how good the Type-S looks and all the features I have in my car that MANY don't, or they do have it, but they had to pay extra for it while it comes standard with my Type-S. Beat me in a race if you can I don't care. I was probably too busy on my hands free link, flipping through my Sirius XM channels or using one of the 650 different voice commands it has lol.
I have owned both an '07 Tl-S 6sp, and an 05 SE-R 6sp. The TL-S heavier, more luxurious, and more powerful. The SE-R is almost as fast, and gets better mileage.... but can't touch the overall build quality,style, and luxury of the TL-S. In the end, I kept my SE-R longer... not because I liked it better, but because it was half as expensive and capable of much better gas mileage. TL-S is much nicer if you can afford 2x the cost. Typical used 07-08 TL-S is $25k, typical 05-06 SE-R is $12k.
they are both 5 speed auto. the se r had a cold air intake and the tl had 500 miles on it. notice dealer plates. It's much faster now thats it's 4 years old.

they've done this one race with a GTR and an NSX. neither pulled away significantly. both kept up to each other. GTR is a twin turbo beast but remember it's got too much technology and it's too heavy. the NSX is a pure racecar with a 6cyl and weighs as much as a feather like a racecar should be. no BS technology, you're the computer and you make the calculations. that's what racing is. not to take away from the GTR., my eyes start jizzing when i see one.

I have 07 TL-S 6sp, and I leave these, G35s, G35x behind. Even though I run Potenza RE-11 tires, the G35x (VQ35HR) gets ahead the first 20ft, then it's a slow creep in second, and behind me by third. It's got 306hp, but loses its advantage by parasitic drag (awd/auto tranny)
The Altima is FWD and under powered (260bhp) for about the same weight. It would never touch a manual TL-S. Not hating, just facts. Good vid.
Yea, I'm not sure how this dude is driving is adaptive-clutched TL-S, but that SE-R would be smoked against mine....let me know if anyone cares to test that theory.

This isnt really a fair race, hate to tell you. Unless the Acura was a 6MT, its triptronic 5spd transmission is accompanied by a throttling computer that can only be reset by a series of events. Resetting the ECU would have given a much larger take off. The TL-S is, by specs and ACCURATE reviews, faster. It has 26 more hp, weighs only 200 pounds more, does 0-60 faster and provides more torque. To all you nissan fanboys, this wasnt even close to a proper review :-D, goodday. Learn your cars.

i'm just gonna say right out i'm a nissan fan so of course i enjoy the se-r winning. in fact nissan has surpassed honda in global sales. i think the acura would be more of a luxury sedan with less sport in mind and the altima more sport and slightly less luxury. don't get me wrong my 05 altima is pretty damn comfortable, i can't complain. i would also put nissan and honda as 2 of the most reliable car companies. i for one haven't had any problems with my altima since i bought it used 2 years ago
Plain and simple the J series motors are not meant for performance. They are meant for reliability, good gas mileage, and low emissions (which is total crap because the only difference between a Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle and a standard one is a choked down exhaust manifold and slightly smaller fuel injectors. Emphasis on slightly) All things set equal, gearing weight etc. stock the J series is faster. I have seen guys put them in civics and they fly.
To nemesis yea i work on them too and Nissan is just as good as Honda any day of the week come to think of it.. better never seen a nissan come in with a bad tranny in 3 years but i have seen at least 5 honda autos bite the dust.
Yah acura is way more reliable than Nissan I know because I have worked on plenty. Like the g35 @ 60k miles have a ton of oil leaks out of the valve cover,timing chain cover while Acura tl specifically at 70k miles the engine looks as clean as it came from the factory
@NemesisProject1 My Altima 07 is still perfect have been using Royal Purple, never needed any serious work, the only thing thats due that we can tell needs something done is the fluid in the CVT needs to be changed but I have been pushing it hard ever since the day I got it! even taken the Royal Purple up to `10k miles, and every tech to look at it so far has said it is in pristine condition. However I take care of my cars!

Infiniti gets less customers because relative to the German auto companies (who are best known for their luxury cars), it's fairly new. Also Infiniti in my opinion asks for too much to compete with them at the moment, not to mention that they tend to focus on performance over luxury.

Yeah we know about the turbo and the nos kits witch are very easy to install on eclipse but , ford and chevy are real muscle . There's really know arguing . they've done this one race with a GTR and an NSX. neither pulled away significantly. both kept up to each other. GTR is a twin turbo beast but remember it's got too much technology and it's too heavy. the NSX is a pure racecar with a 6cyl and weighs as much as a feather like a racecar should be. no BS technology, you're the computer and you make the calculations. that's what racing is. not to take away from the GTR., my eyes start jizzing when i see one.

I have 07 TL-S 6sp, and I leave these, G35s, G35x behind. Even though I run Potenza RE-11 tires, the G35x (VQ35HR) gets ahead the first 20ft, then it's a slow creep in second, and behind me by third. It's got 306hp, but loses its advantage by parasitic drag (awd/auto tranny)
The Altima is FWD and under powered (260bhp) for about the same weight. It would never touch a manual TL-S. Not hating, just facts. Good vid.

This isnt really a fair race, hate to tell you. Unless the Acura was a 6MT, its triptronic 5spd transmission is accompanied by a throttling computer that can only be reset by a series of events. Resetting the ECU would have given a much larger take off. The TL-S is, by specs and ACCURATE reviews, faster. It has 26 more hp, weighs only 200 pounds more, does 0-60 faster and provides more torque. To all you nissan fanboys, this wasnt even close to a proper review :-D, goodday. Learn your cars.

i'm just gonna say right out i'm a nissan fan so of course i enjoy the se-r winning. in fact nissan has surpassed honda in global sales. i think the acura would be more of a luxury sedan with less sport in mind and the altima more sport and slightly less luxury. don't get me wrong my 05 altima is pretty damn comfortable, i can't complain. i would also put nissan and honda as 2 of the most reliable car companies. i for one haven't had any problems with my altima since i bought it used 2 years ago

Plain and simple the J series motors are not meant for performance. They are meant for reliability, good gas mileage, and low emissions (which is total crap because the only difference between a Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle and a standard one is a choked down exhaust manifold and slightly smaller fuel injectors. Emphasis on slightly) All things set equal, gearing weight etc. stock the J series is faster. I have seen guys put them in civics and they fly.

Yah acura is way more reliable than Nissan I know because I have worked on plenty. Like the g35 @ 60k miles have a ton of oil leaks out of the valve cover,timing chain cover while Acura tl specifically at 70k miles the engine looks as clean as it came from the factory

However I take care of my cars!

The reason Acura sales are higher than Infiniti is because Infiniti is priced higher. That's all. Acura is the luxury brand for the common people; of course it sales more.
Here's something to think about: the engine we're talking about is the same engine that's been used in lemans comps., and in fact forced rule changes.

One comment for you Nissan fan boys out there. Nissan and Infiniti has garbage reliability compared to Honda/Acura & Toyota/Lexus.
Source - CarandDriver. I like to see you race when your POS cars from Nissan, and then after the race when you brag about your "fast" 1/4 mile time. You can pay extra money to fix your engine problems too. I'll give an example of a poor Nissan Engine/Tranny. 300zx has too much engine problems. GTR Tranny can't handle the power. G/Z tranny isn't smooth, and grinds.

@NigguhJason There's more to these cars than just numbers and ratings. Just because a car is rated higher than another one doesn't automatically make it a better faster car, and vice versa.
Infiniti gets less customers because relative to the German auto companies (who are best known for their luxury cars), it's fairly new. Also Infiniti in my opinion asks for too much to compete with them at the moment, not to mention that they tend to focus on performance over luxury.

I tried to resist myself from posting a comment towards you, but you are clearly an idiot. Acura's fastest car isn't the RL, its the TL SH-AWD and V6 TSX. Don't get it mixed, idiot. You are very bias with your argument. Acura is more compared to Benz than Nissan, for Nissan isn't a luxury brand. The TSX competes with the C300, and the V6 TSX competes with the C350. How is it not compared to Benz? What makes all Hondas a girl car? That is bias.

I'll be the first to say that I don't like stangs and I do like eclipse but the stang is very popular and real muscle when tuned correctly . Yeah we know about the turbo and the nos kits witch are very easy to install on eclipse but , ford and chevy are real muscle . There's really know arguing . Put nos in a muscle car and what do you get ,,, a fucking rocket .
