@jivebandit Hey man. I know it's been some time since you posted your comment. But if you're still interested: I'm pretty sure he drops both his high and low E's down to D. If you play around with hammering on the second string from first fret to third, you will see the pattern. :)
If the guitar would have been in fact unplugged (maybe change title to "acoustic" instead of unplugged?), it would have sounded a lot better. The full sound of the guitar over the speakers makes his voice sound a little week, too bad, I love non-amplified vocals :)
Thanks for introducing me to this excellent song! I've tried and failed to find any tabs or chords for Katie Cruel online (any version whatsoever). Can anyone help me out?
hey yeah, im familliar with the dalton version, wich is really awesome how she does it. I would say she makes it her own, but i dont know the orriginal version.
It's an american traditional folksong, dating back to the war of independence, but may be even older than that and be originally from Scotland. Aparrently! The Karen Dalton version is the version that most folk (including me) have heard before...
I've known about Fleet Foxes for a few months now but am just now exploring more about them. After watching this video it's obvious that Robin Pecknold is a gifted songwriter. I strive to be as good as him!
So glad I was able to find a good quality version of this online (just heard him sing it last night at the Roundhouse). It really was amazing to see someone sing this in a 2,000 capacity, sold-out venue, without microphone, and to have it be so clear and so good.
Sidenote, I really like that you included the banter (and your subtitles!)
I was there, my second time seeing them live. I remember a few days before the concert someone asked me if I was going, and I told them yes, and they said, "Good, because you'll never ever see them for $6 again." Probably true. They're getting pretty big, and they deserve every bit of it.
The venue was perfect for them, I'm not sure if seeing them anywhere else will live up to that.
It's in dropped D tuning. For the verses he's doing a sort of Dminor thing where you sometimes play the high e string open. Then every now and then he'll go from an F chord to a G chord. You can figure out the rest from there, but that's pretty much it.
I saw them play here in the UK on Tuesday - this song was outstanding. I'm still buzzing from that night. I'm booking up tickets for when they come back to the UK next year.
i can't get enough this. i watch pretty much every time i go on youtube.. I have to see this in real life haha. I have to see fleet foxes live.. and i will.
Well I haven't looked at their tour schedule but I hope they make it out to New Zealand for you! I've seen them a handful of times but they are local for me. They are from Seattle too...
