  • haven't watched the whole video, I'm just watching him play for the first minute lol

  • 0:48 WTF HOW DID HE DO THAT

  • DAT PINKY.

  • @NathanielKHVids Yes, indeed.

  • Wow, What a great salesman this guy is. I'd totally buy that and I can't even play guitar

  • 0:48 How did he do that?

  • @cakire82 airplane ibanez flanger

  • i bet if i bought these pickups, i would be as good as him

  • Hey Larry, Would the injectors be good for Surf music? Ive been wanting to custom build a RG style guitar with this pickup set.

  • @JonMan794

I would think so, although I also think the most important element for surf music is an amplifier that can produce a clean and bright sound that isn't too edgy.

  • The korina one was expensive as hell :/

  • @ibelong100 Hi, This the new model ... much less.

    All the best,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • right after that incredible I applauded the laptop.

  • what did u do a 0:48 ? that was the most awesome sound i've heard in a while on a guitar

  • @SnyperMac ibanez airplane flanger.

    Paul Gilbert signature

  • @SnyperMac Digitech Whammy

  • @Czarek2323 actually, is his airplane flanger pedal, the Ibanez AF2

  • GtrExam loves these pickups

  • fuuuck i love his guitar sounds like

  • How did you do at 50, that similar sound to a dive bomb without a tremolo.

  • @Kakaking58 His signature airplane flanger pedal

  • @Kakaking58 Ibanez Airplane Flanger AF2, his signature flanger in takeoff mode.

  • his pinky is scary.

  • I play blues mostly and a lot off clean, can we hear the neck position?

  • if you look very carelly theirs a pidgeon on his shirt.

  • I love his mannerisms. hehehe

  • Larry, you are the man.

    -Mike

  • @roknfnrol Thanks Mike,

    All the best,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • They sound AWESOME!

  • is that finger sale with the guitar

if yes i wanna buy it :)

  • So they're not really single-coil pickups then. They're stacked humbuckers with one coil on top of the other, not side-to-side coils like on most humbuckers. I think Yngwie Malmsteen has something similar to that on his signature Fender Strats. He does get a beefy tone from that axe, and still retains note definition too. Plus, his alternate picking chops are just flawless!

  • Does PG use the same spec on this guitar as the red one he uses live, or is it the spec on his PGMFR1 with a red colour?????

  • Does this guitar have the same pickups as on Paul's version.

  • @Dannymusic1999 Hi, Yes.

    All the best,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • @Dannymusic1999 The PGM100 fireman series guitar was to make a cheaper version of the brown one you see around quite often and there really isnt too much difference between them, the PGM100 has the same DiMarzio pickups as paul uses in this guitar, his brown one is loaded with 3 Area 67's instead of the Injector's.

  • Hes usein the new airplane flanger i faved a video of him talkin bout it

  • Gilbert is such a legend. Hes a sick guitarist but hes not the least bit arrogant.

  • 0:48 WTF was that?!

  • sweet, I want that guitar.

  • Does it come with Paul Gilbert abilities?

  • Paul Gilbert is one of the more likeable guys in music, he doesnt sound arrogant or stuck up at all

  • Whenever i see this i think.

"Paul Gilbert: The way you could sound, but never will."

  • hes a great player with tons of ability, but i really just cant get into his style

  • He should have the Iceman also :D

  • 0:47 how does he make the sound??? it sounds like he's hitting the whammy bar, but there is no bar???

  • @HappyGuitarFellow sounds like a digitech whammy pedal to me. that or some other pitch bender

  • @buddavssatan That's his signature flanger pedal from Ibanez. There's a switch on it that makes the noise he did.

  • @HappyGuitarFellow Ibanez AF2 Flanger. Sounds absolutely incredible, I've messed around with it and I've never had so much fun with a small metal box

  • It has nice ka ka ka ka ka ka....

  • dimarzios always have that airy sound. i've used them in pauls forever.

  • WOW. I have to say Paul Gilbert's playing style is fantastic to listen to, and through these pickups... His guitar playing is beyond what words can describe :')

  • That first lick sounds like a guthrie govan lick from "wonderful slippery thing"

  • Hi Larry,

I would ask you if this guitar is close to Metallica's or Dream Theater's sound..

    Thanks!

  • turn video to 2X,

    Watch your mind explode!

  • Hello Larry, yup it's me again - although you probably do not recognise me as the 36th ann. fanboy who has installed 3 sets already in his Les Pauls I talked to you about earlier. Nevermind. Still in the DiMarzio camp.

I just scored an 70s Dual Sound on Ebay and want to put it into a Strat I got. Can you recommend middle/ neck pickups for that sort of vibe, 80s Rock and Metal? Dont know if the guitar is routed HSH or HSS so please advice on both, HB aswell as SC. All the best, merry Christmas!

  • how heavy is this guy weight wise?

  • what the fuck, single coil O.o

  • Great video but so are the replies to comments to be read. I'm no programmer or anything but if the YouTube engineers could put a button beside replies where it could take you to the original comment that would be good. I mean sometimes you've got twenty pages or more to sift through tryin to find the freakin thing.

  • is it me, or is his picking style absolutely beautiful?

  • @FerociousNeedles i like andy timmons picking style better and shipbadaba! i turn out picking like him its kind of creepy

  • I simply love Paul.

What a great and nice person.

And what a unique Guitar Player.

in 200 Years people will remember him and they will say:" Aaaaaaah yeah!

Paul and Larry...what a great combination that was."

  • what amp did Paul use in this video?

  • Hi Larry,

I just got my Ibanez FRM100 today and I was really excited, but then I plugged it in and noticed immediately something was wrong. In any position even with low gain there is a very loud hum sound, and if I touch my hand to the bridge or the output jack on the guitar it seems to get a bit quieter. It seems to me like a grounding problem but the service department where I bought my guitar wasn't able to fix it and they say that the hum is normal. Any idea what's going on?

  • @parlancex Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your FRM100. The hum you describe is not normal. The DiMarzio Injector pickups are very quiet. It sounds like the bridge ground may not be connected properly. I suggest that you contact an authorized Ibanez service repair center. You can find one through their website.

    Hope that helps,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • @LarryDiMarzio compliments!Great to see you monitoring and responding! I was having a guitar built. The luthier pushed me towards duncans. I refused because I am VERY happy with dimarzios in my ibanez. (air norton neck, fred bridge.) After working on the guitar for THREE YEARS he threw in the towel because he couldn't build me a (leftie) guitar that didn't detune (non-floating trem). This while he's one of the most famous builders(and ibanez repair man)in the country.Anyway, keep up the good work!

  • @parlancex maybe this happens couse you are playing near lights, or without shoes, or bag jag...

  • @dark666shredder Hi, The Injector pickups are humbucking. The problem that parlancex mentioned is a wiring problem.

    All the best,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • @parlancex I've had some trouble with Ibanez customer service and it might be easier to send it back for a replacement. It looks like a great guitar and Dimarzio pickups have always been great

  • Is it me or does this new Fireman, in combination with his new Marshalls, make him sound infitely more like Joe Satriani?

  • Oh i so WANT these pickups, and obviously his talent and technical abililty ;P

how does he pull off that amazing effect thingy at about 00:48?

  • @cwindow93 The Airplain Flanger effect

  • @glutamine001

I think they sound great in alder Strats, pretty much like HS-3s on steroids.

  • What was that badassness at the end of the intro solo?! Was that a whammy pedal?

  • @TheTylerGeissler It's a special fonction of his signature "airplane" flanger ! ;)

  • Hi Larry

These seem awesome for distortion, but do the injectors produce that stratty tone which you get from stock am std pickups? thanks

  • @pranavguitarist

Not exactly. They are louder and fatter-sounding than stock Strat pickups. That is one reason Paul currently has an Area 67 in the middle. It helps to produce a Stratty sound in positions 2, 3 and 4.

  • @LarryDiMarzio So could you suggest any pickups that produce the stratty sound, but are also hum cancelling and good for distortion and harder rock?

  • @pranavguitarist

You could use an Area 61 in the neck and middle with a Heavy Blues 2 in the bridge position.

  • When he picks quickly high on the neck, I swear he has to be Buckethead. They play identical. Yeah, I know the lessons thing, but they look exactly the same.

  • I'm so glad he got away from that high treble maple neck sound.

  • @okamasphere The species of the wood doesn't really make a difference in the sound, that's a myth.

  • @gogerychwyrndrobwll ... Play a Mahogany body guitar and then play a basswood body guitar and you'll KNOW the difference. Mahogany is heavy and makes the tone vibration inside the guitar muted where as the basswood will sometimes vibrate off of the body and thus, it causes feedback that you don't want. Myth? No a myth is a Cthulhu

  • @gogerychwyrndrobwll That might be the dumbest thing anyone has ever said.

  • Hello Mr. Larry,

Are these pickups have no hum when I put on my distortion? Unlike other fender stratocaster pickups? Thanks!

  • @TheShreddedPork

No pickup is 100% hum-free, but the Injectors are very quiet.

  • How do these differ from the Area '67's in the original Fireman?

  • @myampisbroken

The Injectors are louder and warmer than the Area 67. You can compare the specs on our website and see the differences.

  • please someone help me. In 0:49, what the fuck is he using? Whammy pedal? Thanks a lot!

  • Hey larry, would these work in a highway one fender strat?

    thanks

  • @MultiQuinnifer Hi, Yes they would. They are also available on a pre-wried pickguard at Musician's Friend.

    Hope that helps,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • If Dane Cook picked up the guitar.

  • I'd like this guy to be kindergarden teacher for my kids.

  • whenever I see PG with tons of guitars behind him, I was always expecting a Spinal Tap comment from him. LOL.

BTW Larry D, does Super D's pair up well with PAF Pros?

  • Love Paul's playing. 2:47 sounds like a Schenker lick.

  • Coolest. Guitar. Ever.

  • Hi Mr. Dimarzio!

Just wanted to ask....Can you put Injector Pickups in a Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special?

  • @CA084

If you have the 2-humbucker Jaguar Special, you will need a new pickguard cut for 2 Strat-size pickups. If you have the 2 single-coil version. you will have to special-order the Injectors with no flange to directly replace the original pickups.

  • Dear Larry, I 've got a Yngwie Malmsteen Strat with a scalloped neck, chopper in the neck position and Tone Zone s in the bridge position. I wonder how the injector set would work on this strat. As for pot, 500k pot or 250k pot? Which one would work better if I would like the true humbucker sound from the bridge position ?

  • @invader6464

The Injector set normally comes with 250K pots, but 500K will also work if you want a little brighter sound. The Injectors do not sound or perform like true humbuckers. Pickups like the Tone Zone S and Pro Track were designed to perform like humbuckers.

  • Larry mate, I don't suppose you know where on earth I can buy one? If there was any way that you could point me in the right direction in finding one I would be eternally great full, I just can't seem to find them on any website whatsoever. Thanks

  • @danielhallybone1 Hi, There is a section on the DiMarzio website that lets you find a local dealer (USA) or an international distributor.

    Hope that helps,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • "nice perfect demand o ca ca ca ca ca ca"

    i love paul gilbert

  • How did he do that at :49?

  • This guys awesome! Too bad I spent all my money on my new Fender strat

  • Hi Larry, Jeff here from Chile..

I play metal and im changing my old active pick ups for some dimarzio ones..

I want an aggressive one like the x2n for the bridge and other for soloing... im looking some clean sound for distorted solos, the typical shred sound or soloist sound. I dont know becker, gilbert sound Any recommendation?

  • @guitarralaraja

A LiquiFire might be a good choice.

  • Hi Larry, it probably isn't of your knowledge if you know when the new fireman ships out? If you know I'd love to hear a date. I keep checking in on the site where I buy my equipment and the date keeps hopping around, I wouldn't want to purchase it and wait around for a while like a nit wit. Thanks! - Steven

  • @KMD861 Hi, There is a limited number available now. Make sure you ask about the FRM - 100.

    Hope that helps,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • The FRM-1 is the original model & comes

with 3 DP419s. The FRM-100 is the new model & has the current pickup

setup (Injector neck & bridge, 67 middle).

    Hope that helps,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • He kinda seems a little ADD lol but he seems cool, nice sound on the geetar too.

  • 3:26 he says the FRM1 has injector in it?! If you go to the website of Ibanez you'll see FRM1 only has Area 67 pickups, no injectors. At any event, Paul is awesome.

  • @SKayvanAbbasi i think that frm1 in the video is a custom with his own preference of pickups in it. the manufactured guitar doesn't. he might have just added them to his frm 1.

  • @MusicMan0327 Hi, The new guitar is the Ibanez FRM100 not the frm1. The FRM100 has two Injectors and an Area 67 in the middle. It is now being released by Ibanez. CHeck out Musician's Friends website.

    Hope that helps,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • @LarryDiMarzio hey larry just had to say your awesome! that is all

  • Thanks. I went to a couple of Guitar centers and Sam ash stores here in PA but I didn't see FRM100 there.. This guitar seems to have very nice standards for me, thick neck, round enough neck, nice and tall frets, fixed bridge, plus nice pickups. I hope I will see it soon!

  • @SKayvanAbbasi Please contact the Ibanez sales pepartment. I'm not sure who is stocking the FRM100. I know they're in stock and can be purchased from Musician's Friend.

Happy Holidays and I hope that helps,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • Thanks a lot Larry, Happy holidays to you too!

    Kayvan

  • his awsome player

  • Hey Larry!! I have an ibanez s7420 22 frets and I would like to change the pickups for an air norton (neck) and for the bridge pick up some Crunch Lab or some Blaze or Tone Zone I don't know... What do you think?? Greetings from Spain!!!

  • @MrMurens

It is impossible to offer an opinion without knowing what type of sound you are looking for. Please email us at tech@dimarzio.com with a description of the sound you want and we'll offer recommendations.

  • Hey Larry!I just installed my brand new DiMarzio pickups in my guitar and the tone AMAZING!Love your work.ROCK ON!

  • hello larry i have an ibanez rg350dx ,basswood body, was wondering if an evolution for the bridge and a paf pro in the neck would be a good combination, because im looking for a nice warm, sustaining, hot (but not to sharp) sound. so i can play from classic rock to metal to just about everything in between ,as well as that im looking for a nice paul gilbert picking response for the neck pickup but not to muddy sounding.

  • @dmohr7

Most players find an Evo bridge pickup to be fairly bright. You might do better with an F-spaced Evo 2 (DP215F).

  • WHAT WAS THAT?!? 0:48

  • His middle finger is longer than a dollar bill.

  • Hi Larry, I have a ibanez sa260FM and I want to put some DiMarzio pro track and a fast track 1, it would be a good idea?

  • @a7xfeVER11

Yes, depending on the sound you are looking for..

  • My only problem with it is 22 frets... although PG seems not to have a problem with it.

  • Hi Mr. DiMarzio, I have a fender strat with 250k pots, and i just dropped the injector bridge into it, and i was wondering if i needed 500k pots for this pickup, or no because its a single coil, or yes because it's hum cancelling.

  • Props to Gilbert for knowing what he wants to say and getting it out there. Few things are more annoying than a review where the amateur reviewer constantly stutters and pauses..."UUMMM" and "UUUHHHH,YEAHHH" and the ever popular "...AND HERE WE HAVE AN.....UUUMMM... A PICKUP SELECTOR WITH AN.....UUUMMM...A THING". It's even annoying to read, LOL. BTW I will be seeing Gilbert/Sheehan Sat night in Frankfurt, Ger. playing for Mr. Big. Looking forward to it!

  • Hi Larry, I wanna ask how goes it sounds if injector is wired in series with the area 67?

I got a Fender USA deluxe strat with a S-1 switch on it,which allows some combination like neck in series with middle . I was considering to get a set of injector with area 67 but I don't know i should replace the whole pickguard or just replace those pickups? There isn't any demo about the tone of single coils wired in series, I'm not sure how will it sounds if I replace it with some dimarzio pickups.

  • do you make a bass pick-up for six string that can carry super low GDGCFA, with flat wounds. I can't find a pick-up that doesn't "fart" out at less than 100hz.

  • @mrbigsack

The problem might be related to the guitar and amp as well as to the pickups. Please email us at tech@dimarzio.com with a description of your gear & we'll try to come up with good recommendations.

  • what is this song

  • Nice I was gonna get these but I got a ibanez similar to the pgms :)

  • I love Ace Frehley and I love Paul Gilbert. Both DiMarzio legends !!!

I typically gig with a LP loaded with a Super D/PAF or two and a stock Strat. I always hated the dramatic drop in volume, punch and general delivery of the Strat pickups, compared to the DiMarzios. The Injector/Area '67 combination puts both my LP and Strat on a level playing field. Don't adjust a thing !

There's nothing better than DiMarzio pickups !!!!

  • how'd he do that harmonic thing at 0.50?

  • @NelsonPesadelo He used his signature flanger called the Airplane Flanger on the takeoff mode.

  • That's A Sweet Red Iceman

  • Hey Larry, I was just wondering if you could just hint at if you know of course, when and if they are mass producing the guitar he played in this video? Thanks

  • @danielhallybone1 Hi, I just got found out that they are going to start shipping soon. (30 to 45 days) I ordered one too.

    Hope that helps,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • @LarryDiMarzio Thanks for your help, any Idea on the price mate? Thanks again

  • Paul Gilbert seems like such a cool dude.

  • Hi Larry, This maybe a stupid question but do fat necks make the guitar easier to play or harder? Also, since a fat neck gives the guitar a fatter tone would using high output pickups make harsher distortion tones? Thanks and thanks for your wonderful pick ups a lot of the players I love use Dimarzio.

  • @whothefxxx

It isn't a stupid question, but it doesn't have a simple answer. Individual players have different preferences in both neck sizes and type of neck wood, which is also important in terms of tone. High output pickups don't necessarily create harsher tones. It depends on the EQ of the specific pickup, just as it does for lower-output pickups. With either, a warmer-sounding pickup will be less harsh than a bright pickup.

  • @LarryDiMarzio Thats what she said LOL

  • @whothefxxx if you have large hands and ridiculously long fingers like PG, fat necks are still a breeze to play through. If you have average sized hands...it'll be quite harder to play

  • Wow Pauls life is so awesome! How do we get noticed as guitarists? It would be so much fun to live this life

  • i want his fingers and his knowledge of guitar

  • I super love his modern tone.

  • Paul should have his own channel :3 FUCKYEAH PAULGILBERT \m/

  • @DopeDethrone Actually, Michael Angelo Batio is a really nice guy to!

  • Not only is DiMarzio awesome but so are the companies they own. I was trying to buy a set of planet waves autotrim tuners for my 7 but they only come in sets of 6. I emailed DM asking about the possibility of buying just one (so id have 7 total) and they just shipped the extra one for free. Very nice people! Its also why I ordered a CL/LF combo right after

  • 3:01

    Paul Gilbert: "That feels good..."

Ibanez Fireman: I bet it does"

  • so many...guitars

  • @DopeDethrone Nah Satch is cool too. I met him once and he was very nice.

  • @johnraviolli ..the PG Airplane flanger

  • @beruddu

I believe Ibanez used 250K pots. Theer's no reason these pickups won't sound good on a Strat copy. Make sure you get a good neck, do a good job putting the guitar together and I think you'll like the results.

  • hey Larry, awesome stuff! what kind of pots are on that guitar? and would i be able to make a cheap strat copy sound good with some of these? just trying to have some fun with a project guitar, already have an awesome ibanez i aint gonna tinker around with!

  • All Mr. Big guys are shredders?!

  • @Larry Dimarzio I'm kinda new to your pick ups and I know they sound awesome haha but what are the difference between single coil pick ups and humbuckers for example Seymour Duncan invaders and I'm a metal head and a classic rock kinda guy

  • @metallicafreak131

It's impossible to answer this question in a short post. The best approach might be for you to email us at tech@dimarzio.com. Tell us what guitar you have and what type of sound you're looking for, and we'll offer recommendations to get the best results.

  • @LarryDiMarzio Which company offers this kind of awesome support: their CEO actually answers himself and is helping out. Thank you very much, Larry.

  • @metallicafreak131 In short, Humbuckers are big and beefy, a more "rock" sound. . . . .Single Coils have more "snap" to them, a la hendrix and stevie ray vaughan - two classic examples of very single coil tone

  • paul gilbert is gods brother .

  • When this guitar is released will it have the Injector pickup in it?

  • @vengeance5666 Hi, Yes, it will come with Injectors.

    All the Best,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • @LarryDiMarzio

Do you know when the guitar is coming out? I'm very curious :)

  • @o2903 Hi, I think it will be released in the USA this fall.

    Hope that helps,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • 0:48 I just shat myself.

  • @mrguano7 You shouldn't soil your pants, it's just his sig flanger. It's cool, though.

  • Hello Larry, I have recently purchased a EVH Wolfgang Special, but, the pick ups are not nice in my opinion. They are relatively low gain and have a serious amount of presence and lack that bottom end. I would love to hear ur suggestions on a DiMarzio Bridge Pickup. (Bare in mind I was leaning towards a Tone Zone because its warmth/fatness also its higher output. Play Hard Rock / Metal, but, would like a pick up that could bridge the gap to Jazz and Blues. Thanks.
