  • 1:47 = I see a BA Boeing 747-300. How it is possible of having two BA in Chennai airport at same time? Hope the parked 747 is not a cargo!

  • I Love the sound of the engines ;D

  • i love the roar of the engines just as the take off begins

  • I love the sound of the engines!

  • did you have on demand entertainment on this flight?

  • another camera pwned by the triple seven

  • Was it really this quiet? Awesome!

  • @EmadIV Just a warning from a seasoned traveler:

It only sounds this quiet because the video was filmed ahead of the engine intake - IN BUSINESS CLASS.

If you travel on ECONOMY - behind the exhaust - then it turns into an unbearable rumble/roar.

I know this because I've traveled in first, business, and economy class - and I have flown at least once every year for the past 14 years.

  • @Gydronats

Hey I have a question, check your PM! I have sent you the question.

  • @EmadIV Forgive me for being a novice, but what's a PM?

    P.S. Don't expect a response for quite a bit of time - school's starting, I'm in a flurry of homework :(

  • @Gydronats

Private messages. Click on your account name in the top-right corner, then choose 'Inbox'.

  • @Gydronats

True. It goes for all jet planes, the sound behind in the engine is louder and rumbly while the sound in front of the engines is music. With turboprops, it is the opposite.

  • @justtakeiteasy dont believe me well do some research n you will see that qantas also get its planes serviced in china now instead of australia !! the engines were made by the chineese

  • @justtakeiteasy omg mate let me tell you something qantas had the engines made by a chineese company who have the right to build rolls royce engines rolls royce has now stoped them from ever making another rr engine !

  • Is not a Boeing 777, possibly 767 , 757 or Boeing 737 because the short wing and engine small the engine of Boeing 777 is larger than this

  • @sa08v

No this is definitely a 777, the Rolls-Royce Trent 800 are just small. You can tell by the engine sound, the the 767's sound doesn't have the howl on spool-up, and has a buzz saw sound while these groan at full power.

  • Actually Rolls manufactured a 115 engine (google it) – however Boeing got into bed with GE and only offered the GE engine on the 777 300 LR

  • For some reason, it was rolls royce that spoilt the Boeing 777's clean record. For almost 15 years, the 777 had a clean record without a single crash or human killed in it and then some years ago, both rolls royce engines failed on a 777 which crash landed at heathrow. But the flight was from beijing! Never trust Chinese maintenance teams on these fragile 3-Spool engines

  • Awesome roll out & rotation, long given the tropics, as he crunched thru all that asphalt.

  • whats that in the engine 1.40 onwards

  • Jus after rotating U'd c a B 747- 400 Singapore Cargo

  • Where ia MAA???

  • Why do they have those flights that take off at 3am or 4am?

  • is not a 777 is a757

  • @emtgve B 777

  • I like how the engines go from loud to quiet

  • Well I Prefer GE More Than RR But Still Am Ok Engine I Guess!

  • Nycccc .. Does the sound of the engine change due to the atmospheric conditions they're in?? =)

  • @LiiV3LoNDoNLiiF3 if you mena when the power goes up when they are taking off and tehn teh engine seems to get quiet, it hink thats just the cameras mic adjusting itself so that it doesnt get broken by all the noise

  • AMAZING! I remember this spoolup sound when I was flying in SQ Business on SQ963 WIII-WSSS.. unforgettable sound :D

  • The tips of the blades at the front of the engine pass through the sound barrier when on 85-90% power. Hence no noise. Once throttled back they pass back through the barrier hence the chainsaw noise - common in particular to RR engines. I like it. More details only from an expert.

  • Oh my god it is the vibrating noise again! Is this normal for all BA aircraft as i have noticed on the majority i have heard it is.

  • yeah its normal, usually only hear it when the engine isn't at full power, hence why it gets louder when power is reduced after takeoff. on short runways you dont hear it as they're running at full power. weird - usually more power means more noise!

  • hey i have this model!! gemini jets ba 777-236ER G-YMMD

  • gymmd first flight 2/2/00 line number 269

SmallChild93 u will also note its powered by rolls royce not genaral electric like very early ba 777

    ba have a total of 46 777 3 are 777/200

    43 are 200er

with 6 777/300er on order first to be in service will be june 2010

  • LOVE THE THRUST!!!

  • What happening in the engine?

  • Hello!Nice takeoff to LHR from Chenna/India!=)

    Love it!Nice sunny weather!=)

I had enjoy to see your nice video!=)

I give you 5 star for this nice film!=)

    Greeting TheCARRE74=)

  • but quick take off

  • @tatalo1993 u want see a quicker rotation?

  • TERMINAL 5 !!

  • wow...long ground roll

  • the 777-300's landing gear always make a very lound clunk sound when it raises the landing gear on takeoff when i was on air canada. I think it must be the gear locking mechanism. When you think of the size of the gear its bound to make some clunking sound. Am i right thinking the noise is the locking mechanism

  • I would believe that it is the gear doors that make that 'Clunk' sound, as the gear mechanisms are hydraulic and liquid controlled.

  • it could be but it could also be the gear coming to a stop in the stop position or something like that. When you think of the energy involved in a mssive landfing gear that weighs a few tons retracting. Only experienced this on the boeing 777-300 on air canada. It could be a LOCKING LATCH OF SOME SORT MAYBE.

  • Well considering this fact on Boeing's site, "The 777's landing gear is the largest ever incorporated into a commercial jetliner. With six wheels on each main landing gear, and two wheels on the nose gear, it has an unmistakable footprint." Its gotta stand to some reason for a clunk. ;-)

  • ITS NOT A 777-300!!!

  • yes it is. cant u see. only 1 engine.

  • What are you on about 777 only have 2 Engines!!!

And also British Airways only have 777-200

    Learn More about Planes!!!!

  • Looks like video was taken from First Class seat 4K, if the 4 class 777.

    Nice video.

  • I want to sit inside the engine cowling as the pilot 'spools up' and accelerates!!!

  • 1:45 the engine has it's dinner

  • The GE engine is outrightly more powerful than the Trent 800 but that is only part of the story. The Trent is 800 lbs lighter and has a better power to weight ratio than the GE engine. The saving in engine weight give 777s with the Trent a greater payload capability. Look at Wikepedia.

  • Rolls Royce engines have always been reliable and cleaner than american engines. Great British engineering

  • It's true. The GE90 hold the world's record for power. Look it up. Not saying the RR Trent isn't good, it's great, it's just that the GE has a small advantage in power.

  • @GeneralKenobiSIYE Yes its also true what speedbird007 said !

  • @speedbird007 GE90, most powerful turbofan engine on the face of this earth.

  • @speedbird007 You mean to say that Rolls Royce engines are best than Genral Electrics (I think so that G.E is american company)

  • @speedbird007 google BA38 or the Qantas A380 engines that blew up ALL RR

  • My friend came on the inbound flight of this aircraft!

  • You've caught a very rare full power takeoff! Awesome video! I love the sound of those Trent 800 engines, especially the spool-down at 02:39 .

  • wow that camera just got owned by those engines

  • Regarding point on the stationary BA 747-400; there is actually a double-daily service on some days of the week to MAA and would expect this to be a 747-777 operation

  • @f1nut360: You can't say, if an engine is better than another one, but you can say which enginge has more power than the other and the GE90 definately has much more power than the RR Trent 800. BTW Great video!

  • nice! that looks like my car engine but mine has twin turb

  • ROFL!

  • Are those GE90 engines or rolls royce engines as GE90s look bigger than those and I know BA use them on their 777s.

  • These are Rolls-Royces

  • RR Trent: G-YMMx (This plane G-YMMD)

  • rolls royce have a long pointed cone in the middle of the engine

  • And the spiral on their spinner is usually yellow in color and looks different than GE.

  • I rarely see a full power takeoff like this, gr8 video!

  • wot was the heathrow incident

  • A British Airways 777 plane lost all power when it came into land into Heathrow and crash landed, the pilot was hailed a hero after the accident as he saved many lives.

  • o ye lol didnt no it was that date :P

  • What was the BA 744 doing there?

    diversion?

  • was that the singapore a380 in the background?

  • I think what you see just after take-off in the background is an SG 747-400. I'd be surprised if it were the A380. Interestingly notice the British Airways B747-400 at the start of take-off. Does anyone know why it's in Chennai? Is this standard practice of BA to keep a plane there on standby for AsiaPac region?

  • Mega Ark of SQ's Freighter 744.

  • @frodoslodo that BA 747 was most likely there on either a delay or a diversion from one of the other cities in India they serve, after all, it is their 2nd most widely served market behind the United States

  • @frodoslodo Its probably a divert from nearby Bangalore. It happens often in the months of December, January and February due to Fog

  • Comment removed

  • @frodoslodo it is a 747

  • @frodoslodo maybe the 747 was there due to the incident with G-YMMM at LHR on the 17th? after all this was on the 19th and the info does say that this flight was delayed? ;)

  • @f1nut360 its a Sing Cargo 747-412( Mega Ark)

  • @f1nut360 its jet airways not SIA :)

  • does american airlines use this type of engine on their 777s? I certainly hope so!

  • Too bad...Fly BA from the US to the UK once, then you will hear 'em. Americans use the GE90s I think.

  • Hey f1nut360 and PilotOfNOrway91, American Airlines uses Rolls Royce same as the newer BA 777s. United uses Pratt and Whitney for their 777s. Continental Airlines uses GE90s I think.

  • Nice...you seem to know you're engines a bit better than me. +1 mate!

  • Thanx ipts5i I always thought BA used GE90s on all their 777s but obviously Im wrong so thanx

  • Only BA's first order of 777s have GE90s; all others have Royces.

  • which engine is better, GE90 or RR?

  • love the sound of the Rolls Royce Trents..

    Thanks for posting ;)

  • Great video. Like that part, when the captain puts full thorttle and everything goes quiet and the plane accelerates 8)

  • Actually, that's the sound of the two Rolls Royce Trents. The tips of the fan blades going supersonic makes that neat sound.

  • God that looked like a very long roll before they took it up!

  • Really good clip-i felt like i was on the plane-what was that awful noise once you were up there?

  • the landing gear being raised i think, although it did last a long time...

  • It was the climb thrust. It is normal for an aeroplane to make this sound when it is taking off.

  • Apart from that..i think there is some electonic hum going on with the camera after level off

  • That's usually the sounds of the flaps retracting in increments.
