  • I think i just saw BigFoot.... O___o ...rofl..

  • Apperently the orignal Majesty 2 game itself isn't steam only but the Majesty 2 Collection is, is this true? I hate digital copies and having my games linked to steam.

  • Is Majesty 2 steam only? I need an answer quick, and please let the answer be no!

  • but this for 2 dollars... SO GLAD I BOUGHT IT!!!

  • I just found this game in a bargain bin for 7 dollars, as it looked pretty cool. I looked up the game on YT and found this review. Now I'm certainly glad that I decided to buy it! Thanks for the review. :)

  • this game is amazing! the second and the first. i was about 9 when i bought the first game....played it for good 2 years

    AMAZING GAMES !

  • Excellent review.

  • after hearing your review i think im go to play whis game

  • Need a f%$^ Serial Key somebody can send me someone?! plxzz

  • @jandewit1111 Buy the game.. then it follows...

  • 7 euro and 60 cents for all majesty 2 dlc and majesty gold edition and all the elven legacy games, such a deal, only on steam, so glad i got this deal

  • Thank you for this review. I'm going to check out the demo to see if it my computer can run it tolerably. It just misses a pass from can you run it. I hope it will suffice.

  • I am a Majesty fan, and while I did find this game enjoyable, my biggest complain was this. Every mission starts the same; build up a base, train heroes, research skills, and wait till they are stong enough to do the objective. It seems like every level I find myself building the exact same base over and over. It just seems really repetative. Decent game, but most of the missions feel the same.

  • @kanolie thats what kept me away from this game. Granted i think this game is still good

  • loved the first one and played this one but i uninstalled it because it has no free play, in majesty 1 you could customize your games however you want, you cant do that in 2 correct me if im wrong

  • "If a game doesn't offer me a challenge, then it offers me nothing at all."

    Quoted for truth. Great review!

  • Excellent review. Tells me exactly what I need to know to make a purchasing decision.

Great point on challenge. Can't agree more.

I love the Settlers series and anything that looks like those gets my attention.

Glad this is on sale at steam. Time to buy! :D

  • Majesty was on a daily sale on steam today for 3,40(!) euro, so i checked out this review and i think i'll definitely enjoy it :)

  • I hate this game so much.

    MY eyes started bleeding.

BUT OFC you love this game.. you think that minotaurs are the most awesome creatures?

  • wow , defiantly looks like a nice game , your review was pretty slow i found -.o , has this become a new since last i've seen you?....

  • The review was very well done. I bought the title on the spot.

  • Things that made Majesty great for me:

    1. the wit

    2. the catchy music that I can still hum/whistle purely from memory

    3. the re-playability

What made Majesty 2 bad for me:

    1. the difficulty seemed to spike in this game in comparison to Majesty. The first (second?) quest features an ogre that can raze a building in 1 hit (and that's not counting heroes, who have little to no chance).

    2. The music/wit was gone. Instead of memorable quotes/tunes to hum, it was just a bland game that looked decent.

  • so.. Let's summarize: This game is AWESOME because it has minotaurs living in mesoamerican pyramids !! But it would have been better if there were unicorns living in eskimo iglo's :(

  • @razorTin True, true :(

  • Such a great review. You not only explained what the game was like, you showed the prequel and explained your personal experience with the game, other than just showing gameplay and going "okay im gonna kill this guy here. okay hes dead. so this is a great game, go buy it". You actually made the game look really good, and i went to buy it right after this review :)

  • This game is on special on steam today for 4 bucks. 4 BUCKS how can I not buy it?

  • @DaFlyingCamel I know right! I just bought it

  • This agme is on sale for $4.00 on steam right now!!!!

  • @perplemunkeeez just bought it :D

  • @perplemunkeeez i buy now

  • Amazing review. I'll be keeping an eye out for reviews from you from now on. Great job.

  • 1st majesty i played was pretty good in its time

  • Your a very good reviewer, and have an unfaltering consistant voice. I found this review very infomrative and have decided to buy it, thanks mate.

  • f u

  • U to hard you say?Say it aint so !I need this game....

  • that is a horrible colour wall

  • Can anyone tell me the serial of the game please?

  • the more i hear, the more alike majesty 2 is compared to warcraft >"<

  • you resemble to the main character of the game "Gothic", thats amazing :)

  • suuuuuuuuucks game

  • suuuuuuuuucks

  • good review man. i personally prefer the original to the sequel, but they are both damn good.

  • haha you are funny :DDD

  • So did any of the Majesty 2's expansions have a random map/scenario feature? Which expansion is it? I like the replayability of the old Majesty game because of the random map feature.

  • @galacticninja7 None of them do unfortunetly. The expansions are really just DLC. They really just offer more missions and a few more monsters. You can buy more abilites and a new class of hero and 6 more single missions from the in game shop, but for some reason one mission costs more than the original game did..75% off sale :). The kingmaker expansion was the best with much more diverse campaign. Battles of Ardania wasn't too bad but monster kingdom seems like a rushed job with tonnes of bugs.

  • There is only 1 problem with this game.... Its to fucking short

  • To be honest, for me there were simply too many niggling issues all piling on top of one-another for me to really like this game:

1: Its graphics reminded me too much of Age of Mythology, and oftentimes felt more like the latter than Majesty because of that.

2: Strange hero behaviour. Instead of exploring the map as they did in Maj 1, rangers instead are perepetually "looking for adventure", essentially the "wandering" action from Majesty 1...

  • @SirBroadsword

3: The building designs are dull and indistinct. In Maj 1 the buildings were wonderfully pretty and easy to differentiate as they were all unique, but in Maj 2 they're just bland...

4: Predictable hero behaviour. Rouges, for example, retreat at about 1/2 health TO A FAULT AND NO MATTER WHAT. This sort of thing causes the game to settle into repetition....

  • @SirBroadsword

...There is no, "Lol, look at two of those three warriors running away from those skeletons. Hey you guys, take a page from Sir Prometheion's book next time and grow some balls" or, "Wow, is that Paladin REALLY going to take on all those enemies by herself? Her comrades had the good sense to run away..." Nope, just endless, "Oh look, that rouge ran up to the enemy, hit them a few times, screamed, "Help a lady, please!" and ran away... again..."

  • @SirBroadsword

5: To me, it just doesn't feel like Majesty...

I could probably go on at length, but I'm a little pressed for time, so I'll leave it there...

  • <3 Minotaurs <3

  • Thanks for this review. I played Majesty 1 and really liked it. Today I was thinking about playing it again. I came onto youtube and found out that there's a Majesty 2. Because of this review, I will keep it in mind and have a look at steam sometime.

Btw, for others who do not know it, a recent expansion (apparently) was released that offers a random map/scenario? generator. That's exactly what the reviewer in this video wanted and it's also something I greatly commend.

  • Ily majesty so much memories

  • super cute guy, love the accent great game also.

  • Did you ever accidentally stick a bounty on your own castle. I did and it was halarious LOL

  • @TimTwinblade LOL WUT, are you serious XD?

  • love this game, remember playing it on a week off of school for snow days when i was 9.. 16 now and just got majesty 2 haha

  • This game was a horrid pos.

  • Comment removed

  • We need a new Dungeon Keepers

  • Best review for the game I've encountered. Majesty sure does bring back the memories! Thanks!

  • GJ u talk like a Barbarian i wanna talk like that :D :)

  • Great review. After I read Gamespots review I wasn't really interested in this game, but your review was a lot more fair than theirs, and convinced me to buy the game. I'm sure glad I did too, I've been playing it nonstop.

  • To much chat about stuff that is not the game in question.

  • It's funny and well animated, but the difficulty is insane. I would seriously wager that this game wasn't play-tested past the first couple of levels. It is way to hard for all the wrong reasons: bad economy, bad unit balance, bad hero ai. This game gets 4 out of 10 from me, simply because it's a great premise with piss-poor execution. It feels like a beta build of a better game, or a late alpha build. Anyone looking for serious rts should skip thisone.

  • Wow, a very detailed review in under 11 minutes, outstanding.

  • haha "so is it like Age of Empires?"

People really do ask that when you play any sort of RTS. Annoys me.

  • Be warned: This game needs a beast computer to play on, laptops do not work for it, at least mine doesn't and it is fairly new.

  • The new expansion for Majesty 2: 'Kingmaker' has a random map generator! YAY! I just can not seem to find it however. You can get in on Steam but you need the Steam version of Majesty 2 to purchase it.

  • I remember this game just fine ^^

One thing that bugged me though, was the the advisor. I called him "Mr. Connery".

I haven't actually completed the game, because the last game kicked my butt for the 9001st time, but that didn't make the game any less fun.

  • Great review, I was scanning Steam for good RTS games and saw this. I had never previously heard of Majesty or Majesty 2, but this game caught my eye. I gotta admit though, the thing bugging me is no skirmish option. There's only so much replay value in missions you've previously done. I wish they would've added an AI that builds their own town while you build yours and you can duke it out with recruited heroes, much like classic RTS skirmishes.

  • Absolutely fantastic review!

  • This is a constructive review of Majesty 2 , which is a different game than "Command & Conquer 3" and "Starcraft".

  • I already have this game its good trust me..

For hardcore strategy gamer only.. its quiet hard

  • lol the minotaurs

  • Very good review! You just said all the things that I feel about the game but I didn't know how to put it in words. You sir, are a true gamer...

  • I hadn't heard of it either, I found it in a library book sale believe it or not. It was really fun, then I heard they made a sequel and I HAVE TO HAVE IT!!!!

  • This game isn't nearly as fun as the original

  • Good review, I remember the first one years ago, giving this one a try :)

  • I'm pretty sure that most people who played Majesty Gold agree, at this point, that Majesty 2 was an insult to Majesty fans everywhere, and the game is pretty much dead with no hope for the expansion which promises to offer very little other than a map editor and new missions/monsters (which completely overlooks the glaring problem with Majesty 2, it's not a Fantasy Kingdom SIM game).

  • @Atheistx82

Unfortunately most good games die. Either their creators cash in on success and scramble or move on their business. Good games create a lot of hireable people who are not paid enough in their opinion. It is unfortunate and I have to say I never expected Majesty to even receive a sequel. But you are right as this piece of carbage is an insult and attempt to cash out on remaining fans.

  • Omg, what an amazing review. I could not have ever done a better review and you nailed the context of which I wanted to hear perfectly. This has got to be the best review I have ever seen and I am so glad I decided to stumble on this after years of knowing it was coming out. It comes out next Tuesday it seems and I will be there that day to pick it up for sure.

6/5 stars for not only a great review, but capturing the essence of previous game play fans to a T.

  • I would of never of herd of majesty eaither if i didnt find the game at a yard sall lol.

  • what about the typing "cheats" those were always fun after you beat everything are they still in the game?

  • good review but i think you were a little biased considering that everytime you look at the game you probrably have an orgasm no offence but the review was good and very detailed nice 1!

  • this game is better in some ways, but FAR worse in others.. the ai is extremely stupid.. far worse than he described, it has NO customizeable options, ect days to survive, gold start.... spawns.. ect. the game is very unfair.. you can think you are doing good one moment and then you will get over run with very high level monsters and you are helpless to do anything because they spawn to quickly.. trust me... i have the game and it is very frustrating.. MY rating, personally is a 5/10

  • My friend Patrick introduced Majesty to me. One of the funniest moments I can remember in the game is when he sent a couple normal warriors after a Warrior of Discord. One of the warriors died and the other leveled. Upon leveling he says, "I feel stronger than ever!" The Warrior of discord yells, "RAAAAAAAAAAAH COME TO PAPA!" The Warrior immediately after leveling, turns tail and runs yelling out, "Send in the reinforcements!"

    Majesty's a true underloved classic

  • My "Funniest Majesty Moment" was when the royal advisor said, " Your Majesty, a newly discovered outpost has agreed to join your kingdom." I went to it and my brother said, "Oh, it's a trading post." Just after he said that, about eighty goblins came and razed it in about five milliseconds, then ran away. After about five seconds of silence we burst out laughing and my brother said, "Well, it was a trading post."

  • That's classic. One of those gaming moments you remember for years afterwards. Those goblins do work bloody quickly.

  • I'm pretty sure that I'll come across many good moments while playing Majesty 2, but none of them will be anything like the one with the goblins and the trading post. Good times...

  • Stuggling to find fault...

    Ok let me help

1: No Continue Button, once a mission objective is completed you're FORCED to stop playing. This is an affont to Majesty fans.

2: Generic Heroes, but how they look may distract you from how homogenous they are.

3: Heroes stay in town. That sucks. I know you like it but hey, you could use a fear flag if you wanted them to stay put!

4: Not enough Misc structures, heroes have nothing to do but complete the mission like mindless tools.

  • @Atheistx82 Ah.... No replay ability is a huge downside... I used to love to stretch the limits of a map and have huge, I mean huge amounts of armies and bases, endless money, and endless mages in sight :). I had a few heros level 500+ just for fun (I forget the levels, but they were beyond being able to be killed for sure :). The rest I could easily overlook, but I wish rangers still explored non-stop like they did in Majesty.

  • Majesty 2 was to Majesty 1 what Black and White 2 was to Black and White. The game did a lot right, but it really screwed up big time. It threw away everything that made Majesty great.

  • Hey I'm surprised this review was very good! You've totally convinced me :D Keep making reviews mate!

  • This game is bad, all i can say. Missions are very similar, there is no difference between them. It feels like you are a tram on the rails. Few types of heroes (only 3 or 4 (max) are all i used), few enemies (wolves, ghost, demons, dragon).

    WASTE OF MONEY!

  • I disagree about 'Similar Missions' you talked about. I think you didn't play it through the last 4-5 missions to see what's in there. The further you go, the tougher and more challenging mission accomplishments you would face! It's a great game (at least for me).

  • Great review, makes me wanna get it as soon as possible. Good thing Steam has it for $40 ;)

  • lol on your comment about minotaurs lairs being meso-american pyramids

    it is true though :D

i am now considering to buy this

  • If I ever visit Scotland I hope to meet you. Perhaps we could drink a beer together : )

  • I am Scottish.

  • @TheFinalHighlander

    lmao !

    good review

  • ``stop pretending to have a scottish accent, speak normally! ``

He can't. He made a deal with me. He must pretend to have a Scottish accent as long as I pretend to have a Romanian one. Btw, if you don't get it, just pretend you do. It will make you look cooler ;)

  • Fantastic review! One of the best reviews I have ever heard. Very intelligently put, Very professional! You have enormous talent and I hope you continue. Might I suggest that you put together a part 2 to this review, or provide a link to a web page that fills in the blanks for some of the items that you were not able to comment on? Cheers!

  • Good review.

On the challenge part, I think a good game should be scalable. In FPS I like a challenge, but in RTS am more casual.

You know, that guy that has a nice little base with some infantry in formations saluting the officer when they get tank rushed by there better fellow gamers. :)

  • Karakta, i found a better versions of the sims, it's online and free, you may want to try it, get it here ==> floprk. com/download

  • Hey David, nice to see you again. And the beard suits you great !

  • Beard eh David.

  • Woot, a new review! I've seen stanburdman's take, and this was even more insightful. I have never heard of this game before. It does indeed look like Warcraft though. I might get this one day, but not now, I'm too busy with other games.

Also nice stack o' games there in the background. ;)

  • Might look like it with the first glance, but it plays unlike any rts ever made. The first one was epic. Cant wait to pick this loveness up.

  • yh dude your beard is awsome you should be an actor i would totally like to see you playing a character in an action thriller movie or a wizard in a fantasy, you look like vould be a fantastic new charater in the merlin series

  • Good beard!

  • your beard is awesome

  • first play majesty 1 and play it as long as you can because majesty 2 is without random map wich means its a 5-8 hour play which basicly means (ow yea it has graphics and its fun but it sucks at the same time)

  • Also. would anyone recommend playing majesty 1 before or after majesty 2?

never played majesty (couldnt find it) but now i can just download em ez.

  • Majesty and Majesty 2 are very different.

Majesty leans towards a sim whereas Majesty 2 is clearly a RTS.

That is what should determine your choice. I would even say that you should not play one if you choose to play the other.

  • I was just looking at this game yesterday, came across a couple other interesting games.

Hope you get ready for tropico 3

  • Great review, I might just have to add this title to my stash.

Also... are those MegaDrive games I spy in your towering stack of cases at the beginning? If so, bonus points!

  • Yeah I've been rearranging things in here so I've got twenty years worth of games stacked all over the place.

  • That, Sir, is made of pure awesomeness.

My other half still rolls her eyes when I break out the old MD for a game of Micro Machines... show 'em off with pride, I say!

  • This Review rocks! I AGREE fully and even i will add a bit... the game without the CUSTOM MAP/RANDOM MAP thingy is to short and kinda sucks....not worth the money, i played in a friends house and there is no need for me to purchase my own copy, because there are only few missions i didnt see... imagine Age of Empires with only the campaign and single missions.. CMON!

  • Woah this game looks awesome. I've been playing RPGs since way back when Ultima IV came out :)

    Rock on !

  • Great review. I played only the Majesty 1 Demo back in the days. As far as I know some Youtube reviewers got a free copy of M2 from 1C company.

  • First off, welcome back. This is boss.

  • fuck yer scotland rules

  • expertly put together review, as always FH.

this game looks amazing! i love rpgs but never really got in to the Populous style games but i can tell from this review that Majesty 2 must be a standout example of this genre.

    well done indeed.

  • Thanks for the cool review I agree with a lot of points. Fun game and funny moments indeed.

  • Interesting stuff. Makes me feel even more that I need to build a new PC. :-(

  • Lol Alliance...

  • I find this game a breath of fresh air in RTS genre. Love seeing the heroes lvl up and buying new gear, it reminds me of my life has an MMO player... The only complain i have is the lack of freeplay and those damn sewers... I mean, if lairs can be destroyed, i dont see the point of being constantly under attack by rats / skeletons... its just not good... rather use that time to venture out of the city, than having to put defend flags all over the place.

  • "it reminds me of my life has an MMO player"

Funny you should say that because the graphics and music provide an ambience that I find remarkably similar to World of Warcraft. Brings me back to my days of hanging around Goldshire.

  • Welcome back Highlander.

I remember this game back in the day. I am a huge RTS fan and this is no stranger in my collection. Awesome video.

  • Excellent review, and the game looks really good. I'd never heard of the original, either, I may have to dig that up somewhere, as well.

  • Hi David, good to see you back.

I have to say, this game looks pretty good. But I thought minators were from Ancient Greace. Wasin't it a myth about a minator protecting some giant maze.

Also, didn't you talk about this game before, when it was in development?

  • The Minotaur was a unique creature in Greek Mythology which King Minos kept in a labyrinth. It was eventually killed by Theseus who used a ball of string so that he wouldn't get lost tracking the creature down. However, for some reason, they just go so well as a race living in Mesoamerican pyramids. It doesn't make sense, it's just cool.

I only found out Majesty 2 was being made very recently, sometime after my last video. Like I said I never expected it. When I found out I kept an eye on it.

  • Ah, I was right then. I have to say the Mesoamerican pyramids do look very interesting. I must have heard about this game from someone else then. I remember someone telling me about the first one and how apparently in the early stages of development the second one was looking more like a War Craft clone. Good to see that they sorted that out.

  • looks great i wonna buy it

  • So is it like Age of Empires? Just kidding!!

Great review highlander (as always). You know what gamers want from an RTS and deliver the review accordingly. Welcome back!!

I'm taking a break from RTS after playing Empire Total War. Waiting for Batman: Arkham Asylum to get released on PC. Hurry up already!!!

  • I gave up on Empire: Total War. I was considering Arkham Asylum to. Batman always was the best of the "superheroes". Mainly because, he isn't a superhero but a tragic figure.

  • I bought this game the other evening on Steam and I am loving it so far.

I never played teh first one so this one is a new experience for me.

I love the atmosphere of the game and especially enjoy the advisor, he reminds me of Sean Connery and gives the game a good boost to it's setting.

    Great review.

  • That Sean Connery sound alike was in the original and highly demanded from the fans for this sequel. When I was younger, I swore it was Sean Connery in my naivety.

  • A sequel that is better than the original? You don't get many of those these days.

If customization is what you seek, may I reccomend the Warhammer 40k Dawn of War series to you?

  • How fun! I played Starcraft and Warcraft 3. Thanks for this review... I'm interested now.

  • he is back;) good video my friend, you are a great reviewer! keep it on:-)!

  • 1C - didn't they do Men Of War? I kind of liked it, ignoring the shitty, shitty voice acting.

Anyway, even though I'm generally repelled by anything set in medieval times(don't ask me why, it's been that way since I was born, I think), I'll keep an eye out for it. I absolutely loved games from the 95-04-ish era. Anything inspired or even similar to those games will do it for me.

  • "for example : on one meshin ...." <3

This looks so fantabulous I almost wanna play it. ALMOST ! :D

  • You shall... you shall <3

  • Rather sad you didn't show the dwarf and elf part. :(

  • Cool, new review :)
