I am a seasoned coaster fan and this ride shocked me. It was great fun with lots of surprises and quick dips. What shocked me was how violent the ride was. The first power bend was so unexpectedly strong that I landed up bruising my arm. Lesson learnt! I held on for dear life after that. I later found out that on some bends you experience a LATERAL 1.4 g force! Thats unheard of in modern rides. This is a superb coaster. Recommended!!!

I remember this ride when it was built (1958) before the height was raised and the top circuit added. Mind you it was a very good ride even then. A 'mirror image' copy of this ride was built at Morecambe shortly afterwards although the Morecambe ride was never increased in height. The Morecambe version was moved to Southport after the closure of Morecambe's Frontierland and the ride was then re-themed. When Pleasureland Southport was abruptly closed the ride was bought and moved down south.

It may look like a kids' coaster but it's not!!

Fantastic, great airtime, but imo the most exrteme ride in the park!! Best to ride one person per mouse! .... Headchoppers, violent turns etc. A must ride!! There are some great classics at Pleasure Beach - Grand National - insane airtime. Big Dipper, Roller Coaster as well as the Big One.

@penventinue That sounds like one great big beast of a ride! I might have to risk it when I go but is it safe? I may feel like I'm going to fall out and not stay in the mouse properly! That will be scary and even scarier to be sent round on my own! Good thing that the staff on the platform can't hear riders scream and swear while they go round. How smooth and intense are the other coasters please?

Believe me, it feels a LOT faster and violent than what's shown here. Classic ride - to be ridden last as otherwise you might be too injured to ride anything else.

You're more likely to survive on your own, not as part of a two which makes it worse, especially for the guy at the back.

The other rides are intense, especially the wooden ones which can knock you about a little bit. The more modern rides are fairly smooth.

@jazzx251 You're right - this video only gives about 20% of the full experience of the thing. It's the sharp turns that do it - you just don't get that on the bigger modern rides.

This ride was actually quite scary it seemed really rickety and dangerous. My friend kept screaming "OHMIGOD HELP ME! I'M GONNA DIE HELP MEEHHHH!" Thats how scared she was :D

well all you people from england this is nothing compared to scotlands Loudon castle ride the Rat , alot more faster sharper and it stops halfway on an edge and suddenly goes beats this crap anyday
