my problem is that I have been working out for more than 5 monthes and I eat food that contain big amount of protein but the size of muscles didn't change although I've been
my problem is my legs are too thin, not actually weak, but they look it, even though theyre kinda toned. I'm too embarassed to wear shorts. and my lower abs are just not really visible but the top ones are very pronounced. I'm slim by the way, I want to look like bruce lee really... HELP. (and yes I do Martial Arts)
@jagerma5ter Squats, lunges, deadlifts, leg press, leg curls, calf raises. Just some exercises you could do for your legs. Keep the sets and reps low and only choose 2-3 of these exercises. one targeting your quads, one of your hamstring muscles and perhaps glutes and finally you could do some calf exercises to work out those.
@jlvi13 Cheers mate, just so you know i don't really have any equipment. just a few light dumbells, the heaviest being 5.5Kg I think. I don't really work out much (I'm starting now really) but I seem to put muscle on my arms and shoulders really easy, and not at all on my legs, even though I walk EVERYWHERE.
@jlvi13 I also want to increase my flexibilty (again my upper body is far more flexible than my legs), is it best to try and increase flexibilty and muscle at the same time, or should I wait until I'm flexible first before doing serious workouts?
@jagerma5ter I would go for both together. If you would first get muscular your muscles are less flexible and if you first become very flexible without doing any strength training you will be very vulnerable for injuries! Overflexibility is a very bad thing too if you are planning to use your body for things that require strength.
@jlvi13 oh right, that's actually what I thought. Cool, thanks very much. I'd best get started then. Got any tips on staying motivated? Some days I'll be up for a workout, others I just won't, though I'm always up for martial practice.
Just watched the video, and my right bicep is stronger than my left one, but I used to to a couple more reps on the left one, and it feel stronger then it was before i started working it out more :p
As you probably know, this problem occurs in flexibility too. I can do front split with my left leg on front, the other side is worse - I'm almost there. I've noticed recently when trying to do side split that my legs aren't in perfect straight position. I think I have sth with my right hip, maybe this is a problem. I don't know. What is more strange is that, I kick higher with my right leg. So maybe my dynamic flexibility is better in right leg and in the left leg the active one. Any tips? :)
@SebaP1991 I'd say, just keep practising the way you do and pay more attention to the points you are having difficulties with. Dynamic flexibility is completely different from static flexibility. You could try to do some dynamic stretching. That is safe for those who know their own flexibility and are more experience. Never stretch dynamically if you are a beginner. Otherwise it's absolutely safe as long as you don't go way beyond your limit!
@iM0nst3r I haven't done that yet, but I'll try it out when I can find a decent wall to use. I was familiar with it, but I never did it. So thanks, I will give it a go.
i am in desperate need of help. im about 6 foot 3 inches tall and i weigh 199 pounds. i started working out like last year maybe and my muscle development throughout my upper body is completely messed up. my right arm from the shoulder down including my right lat is bigger than my left arm and left lat but my left pec is much bigger than my right pec. everytime i go to do dumbell bench or pushups its feels as if my right shoulder and right lat is taking most of the load thus...
@everydayidiealilmore So you didn't watch the video or do you expect me to make up new tips and advice? I mean, did you try out the exercises I have shown in this video or do you expect that it is a problem that will be solved within a few weeks? It might take you months or more likely years to be able to properly even out your muscles (if it will work in the first place). Focus on your non dominant side and use the techniques in this video.
@DManlsTheMan I either said that in the video or in the description, but I have to disappoint you. There is no way you can fix that, it will always be like that, because you can only make your muscles bigger or smaller by using exercises. You will not be able to move them up or down. To anyone who is reading this and knows about a way to indeed fix it, please feel free to jump in and correct me if I'm wrong.
@jlvi13 Hey Thanks for replying man, actually i just wonder if u know any exercises that can isolate left of right side of the abs even they cant fix the symmetry of the muscle
@DManlsTheMan Bicycle crunches to only one side, side bents, hanging side bents. But if you have watched the full video you should take my advice of not individually targeting one side more than the others. So make sure you do the same amount of reps and sets and same intensity for both sides!
i can jogging 10 km in 1 hour but i cant do jump rope so much. and i can do 160 push up on 4 set but i cant do pull up ! and i can do 30 push up on 2 finger on each hand but i cant do 2 finger push up on one hand.
Same with me. My left bicep is smaller thn right one. Left pec is larger thn right. Right lat is larger thn left, right forearm is larger thn left... Im my own freak show haha
Jerome, I notice when you do bench press, you don't go all the way down. I too don't have a bench to do bench press on - so will doing it on the floor like you (without going all the way down) still be effective? Thank you and as always great video!
@agdp1992 I do have a bench, but just was to lazy to set it up for a short clip like this. Doing them on the floor is quite good, although it's probably not safe when you are going to bench press 80-100% of your maximum bench press weight. Safer is with a rack to put the barbell on and with a bench.
@linkreac Yes, but if you have an underdeveloped left lat and perform pull ups with alternated grip your lats will do more work than if you would do a regular pull up when your dominant side is overruling.
Jerome,my right pec and bicep are smaller.I think that one armed pullups with my right arm will help,I currently can't do them all the way up,but i can do 25 pullups and i think I'll soon be able to do OAPs,what do you think, should i do them?
@kiphon3 Nope, I think you should not do them for that reason. Like I said, don't do seperate exercises for your weak side, it's like performing one handed bench presses. However it would be pretty good if you could do them for both arms as then you will ask the same amount of force from both your dominant and non dominant. Do the same amount of reps and sets for both sides.
Great video on an interesting subject! If i do not pay attention while I am performing an exercise which requires either both legs, both arms, or whatever, I automatically favor the left side and do most of the work with my left side. The only solution I have found to this problem is to focus on your weaker side while performing any exercise. If you concentrate and target your weaker side throughout all of your sets/reps, you can ensure that it gets worked out as hard as your dominant side.
I just read an article on 'muscle and fitness' and they suggest you to lift the same weight you lift with your dominant side. You will cheat when you get tired and ofcourse you will gain less but in my opinion it depends the exercise you do . Thanks for the video btw bro . Respect from Turkey...
I have muscle imbalance in my legs. The only things I do for legs is stiffleg deadlift and squats. Running too. My right quad is slightly larger than my left. haha...and I really don't care. For me it's what I can do with my muscles, not what they look like. And the problem I have is I love Southern American Cuisine too much. :P

My left lateral muscle is significantly smaller than my right, but the rest of my body is symmetrical, help?
SuperJuniorXII 3 weeks ago
@SuperJuniorXII Well, I think the video contains plenty of tips. What lateral muscle do you mean? You are talking about the lattisimus dorsi?
If so, alternated grip pull ups will help out a bit. I have made a video about that, so you should be able to find it on my channel!
