  • I wonder how Snowy is these days. DO you have new videos of her?

  • I have a sheltie too it is very unfortunate that some dogs are blind and deaf, but at least there are ppl who care about them enough to take them in.however i know too much ppl who would never take in dogs with problems. :( your dog must be happy to know the she has a owner who cares about her

  • thanks for being so wonderful to that little angel of a dog, what a sweetheart

  • Hello! I just found your videos, and they are wonderful. We have just rescued a double merle ourselves. Her name is Mia. She is also blind and deaf. She has no eyes. But she is a joy.You can see videos of her on my youtube page. She has onlt been here 3 weeks, but we cannot imagine our life with out her here.

We also have two other shelties, both half brothers.

    Thank you for sharing!

  • She's so cute! My blue merel dog Holly came from a litter of Mini Aussies and a lot of them ended up like Snowy. Apparently your not supposed to breed merle to merle Somtimes I see Holly's deaf brother, Perfect. he's very sweet.

  • You guys are awesome for rescuing her! She seems like a ball of fun and a sweetheart. <3

  • So cute, I feel so bad for her.

  • um.. a shockwave of sound? lol

  • <3 I love seeing deaf dogs in action. I have a deaf double-merle aussie named Haven, and she's absolutely brilliant. I want to rescue another double merle because of how much they've added to my life. Your girl is gorgeous, by the way!

What sort of vision problems does she have? Haven is nearsighted in one eye and has no peripheral vision in the other. And I WISH her deafness made her mute -- no such luck. Ever hear a deaf dog bark? Sounds like a five-year-old being strangled.

  • God bless you for adopting her. I have so many rescues because no one wants older dogs. Most all inquiries I get are from people who want a puppy for free "since you are in rescue, you should be thankful that we even want one of your puppies," and I explain to them that this is a RESCUE and I rarely have puppies, most of my rescues available for adoption are old, with disabilities, or abuse problems. I put them on youtube so people will see they are sweet & have value. Right now all are mine.

  • SHe is so beautiful! It is sad that she can't hear but it really doesn't effect her at all. Or so it seems from the videos. I love when she starts chewing on the purple balloon and you think it's about to snap! I hope you have many happy years with that beautiful little girl!

  • It is cruel to breed them because it is highly likely you will get puppies with a disability, and even more likely you won't be able to find them homes.

I adopted a double merle aussie shepherd from the shelter, and he is the sweetest dog I have ever had. It makes me so sad the shelter almost euthanized him because they didn't think they could find a deaf dog a home.

  • I don't think it's cruel to breed them. Some are accidental. What is cruel, in my opinion, are the people who kill then right off the bat because they MIGHT be deaf and/or blind. That's just irrisponsible to me.

  • Double Merle breeding is so cruel. D:

  • what dog is she

  • the breed is shetland sheepdog (shelties, minicollies but they dont have nothing to do with collies they just look alike) mini lassie, etc.)

  • Cute. It's sad because thats what happens when you have a double merle and most breeders refuse to breed them.

It's nice to see you have a nice home for her though. =)

  • your pets are amazing and so are you....it really warms my heart to see people like you who love and care so much for animals. The world seems so much nicer because of people like you :-)

  • Aw she is so cute! I have a double dapple (double merle) dachshund but thankfully she has pigment around her face and isn't blind or deaf.

  • Snowy is quite a character and enjoying life despite her disabilities - a less to us all!!

  • so cute!

    :)

  • thats sad.:(

  • shes deaf and blind?

  • She is only partially blind (she can see, but not very well) but she is deaf and mute (she can't make any noises at all)

  • @keenergc awww! I have a double merle (blue merle) deaf sheltie!! he is so special!!! :D

  • My best friend had a sheltie! It wasnt a double merle tho. Are they always blind and deaf? And do they all have very few teeth or just this one?

  • Unfortunately, they often have various genetic problems, but sometimes they can see some (like snowy), and other times they have other issues, like the teeth. And Snowy has two mishapen feet, also.

I describe a bit more about it on my youtube page!

  • Thats real sad she seems like a sweet dog! I think im gonna look around a rescue and see if i can find one

  • awsome tell my sis plz rush4life70494

  • lol shes cute

  • Thank you! We think soo, too:-) I'll be putting a new video up today.

  • cute

looks kinda like a baby polar bear

  • Seing the puppy box the balloon is really cute. Happy birthday to your pup! But you shouldn't let the baby put that in it's mouth. It could pop and go down her or his wind pipe! That happened to a toddler on the news and he died.

  • I feel ripped off! where's the POP?! lovely dog and cute series though

  • I would love to have seen it pop,and seen her reaction. She is truely gorgous. It's good to know someone loves there pet like I love mine.

  • Beautiful dog and video - you guys are saints for being such good parents. P.S. From someone who grew up with a cocker spaniel who could scream the house down, a silent dog might not be the worst thing in the world

  • Snowy is such a doll!

  • she's adorable!!!

  • How sweet. She is beautiful. We have 7 rescue shelties and live in the Smoky Mountains of TN. We recently lost a tiny 12 year old to cancer and miss her terribly but the remaining seven are darling too. Look at our shelties on tennesseeshelties on youtube.

  • She's beautiful. Please watch my video you'll understand why.

  • Amazing how an "imperfect" dog can bring such joy into life. He finds ways to express himself without barking.

  • Thank you for your comment. How true!

  • cute .... wish it blew up (not the dog)

  • i havent heard of that breed but it looks like a great dog

  • Showy is a regular Sheltie with a genetic defect (double merle). She is deaf, completely mute, partially blind, and club-footed. But she doesn't let it stop her!

  • That is so kind of you to take care such a sweet little dog.

  • 5 paws up from tarzan and wylie..the dogs of o.c. congrats on the 14 honors and top dog feature...weez just wuv her...too cute.
