  • Thanks for the memories

  • Thurston Hall, who played "Mr. Crater", was also "Mr. Schuyler" ("Cosmo Topper's" boss) on "TOPPER" at the time- both series were filmed at Hal Roach Studios.

  • As with all of producer Roland Reed's situation comedies (including Stu Erwin's "TROUBLE WITH FATHER" and "THE BEULAH SHOW"), which were filmed at Hal Roach Studios in Culver City, they were produced without laugh tracks until the fall of 1954, when he was "forced" to add them, either by sponsor or network request, or both. Ironically, both Gale and Stu's series went off the air in the summer of '55, continuing for years in syndication...

  • Did you all notice the absence of a laugh track? It was added only for the last season, I believe....but as you can all see, with a great comedy story and acting...THE SHOW DOESN'T NEED ONE! Thanks for posting this great show.

  • grrrrrrrr!....

  • At 1:23, the infamous "grrrrr"-like sound that Margie makes when things go wrong.

  • Margie's a real cutie :)

  • Wow......this film was very well taken care of all these years & it looks so sharp for its old age! This was one of the first shows I can remember seeing on television when I was born in 1955.

  • I was very impressed with the quality of this print. All credit goes to the uploader at archivedotorg. Thanks!

  • Gale Storm was so cute! at least the tv networks could have shown some respect and announced her death recently!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, very recently, June 27, 2009. She was great!

  • they're too busy filming dysfunctional reality tv shows.

  • Hey, in case you don't know, I have an episode of "I married Joan" and a couple of "Life With Elizabeth" on my channel now. Will be adding more. Thanks for commenting.

  • Mr ALbright saying "Maahgie".

One thing back then that's not so much today - people over 50 being more of the work force. If this was today, Freddie would be the company president getting rid of older workers like Albright, Honeywell and the other guy!! LOL

  • Very well said!

  • I also loved Mrs. Odetts and how Margie would get her to scheme with her too.

Margie lived with Dad to help cook, etc when mother died. They had money, and like Dallas family members tend to stay in same home with rich folks. Look at JR living with mama and daddy at South Fork with his wife, and rest of clan.

  • Yes, thinking about it, I can see that :)

  • 4711, me too! I used to watch this when I came home from kindergarden at noon. I would also watch reruns of Burn and Allen while I ate lunch, along with watching Margie, and December Bride, etc.

  • You watched some of the best of the best! Wonderful days :)

  • LOL. When I was watching this show, the one thing that seemed odd was that Margie struck me as a little old to be playing the part of a young woman (with a boyfriend, not a fiance' as I understand it) still living at home with Daddy.

She looks great, just a little old for that sort of role. She would have been thirty when the series began. Overall, I like the show and will probably post more of them.
