Heh, I love how it's basically a modernized Ferarri Testarossa.

The Testarossa was the first road car to have a mid engine longtitudinal, with the radiators just in front of the rear wheels and a long front overhang to act as crumple zone. Guess what features this car also has ? Yep, you guessed it.

Still, it's one hell of a car to modernize, it should be GOOD!

First of all the Ferrari Testarossa wasn't a very good Ferrari. Back in the day most testers and owners prefered the 308/328 series. Second of all who told you it was the first mid engined road car? Ford GT40 had that layout in 1963, and Lamborghini Miura in 1966, although transversal. Then Ferrari themselves introduced the 365GT4/BB in 1973 with the mid-engined flat12, which later became the 512BB

What about Lamborghini Countach? First offered in 1974.Mid engine V12. Maserati Bora?

It wasn't the FIRST ... but it modernized the breed, a LOT.

Longtitudinal engine for better cooling.

Radiators in the rear means less weight.

Lowering the whole engine was also possible, meaning you could see out of the rear window.

A luxurious interior.

All of which is still used today.

The cons were a Hard clutch, no power steering and a difficult gearbox. All of which are resolved in modern cars.

It was a HUGE step forward.

Engineering wise, it's the DADDY.

I cannot relate to the comments that the McClaren Car company has stolen designs from the likes of Ferrari. Please note that Ferrari and McClaren have had dominate Race Car teams for decades and MP4-12C is a fantastic supercar with its OWN merits. I would not doubt that it will surpass the performance of the gorgeous Ferrari 458.

I would almost say that 458 and MP4-12C will not be rivals, I think the McClaren should be revered in the same sense as an Enzo vs an entry level (oxymoron) 458

Very, very little of this car was styled. As with the F1 supercar it is form follows function. the tub or monocel was designed and everything else like drivetrain and suspension were put in place then the body was put over the top with just enough room to fit and then it was shaped in a wind tunnel. This car is not about looks, not at all. This car is about performance in it's purest form. To say it's styling is boring is missing the point to say it's copied from elsewhere is almost ignorant.
