  • how can you update with a standard account? because my dad doesnt want me having a admin on my own computer... =/... but we both want me to be able to update without bringing my computer to him to enter his password... any ideas??

  • uhmm,, how do you connect to your internet? Coz it's really pissing me off, ive looked everywhere :S

  • yeah the translucent menu bar did bug me, but what's ironic is now that i have the choice i still have it translucent, i like it now, but i understand it can be hard see that. i absolutely love spotlight, such an improvement from tiger, its faster and usually i can find exactly what i am looking for in the first couple hits. and the ram speed up isn't amazing but compared to vista it is really quite an achievement. i cannot wait until snow leopard comes out so i can see the speed boosts promised

  • I can read it fine... Whats up?

  • Hey thats a cool wallpaper you have. Where did you get it?

  • interfacelift (dot) com

  • hi,

i understand you have a macbook, but do you own a powerpc-based mac? just asking to know if you have the same issue with leopard:

on intel-based macs it is superfast, even on core solos, but on ppc (particularly my powerbook g4 1.5 ghz) mdimport is always eating half of the cpu (even after indexing is finished) and while tiger used 180-220 megs of ram just after booting, leopard uses 500-600.

anyway, keep up the nice videos and rest assured that not everyone finds them 'misleading'.

  • I sold my iBook G4 to pay for my Intel Macs so I can't speak to performance on PPC machines anymore. It seems odd that Leopard would use that much RAM on a PPC machine on its own and maybe there's some app or service in the background eating all your RAM.

  • indeed, since wired memory is still around 130 megs. i'll look into it, thanks. do you notice mds/mdimport eating loats of cpu time too?

  • No. mdimport/mds idles to 0.0% CPU after the initial indexing is completed. If it keeps chewing your CPU then the only recourse might be for you to turn off Spotlight all together.
