2 months back while i was riding through an intersection at almost 95km/h in a flash i saw a white light coming towards me then swerves straight into a traffic stop pole,it was a ninja 750cc..it was 3am and i was the only one there,i went to his aid and he was obviously drunk coz of the smell of alcohol,phoned the ambulance,i didn't touch him just kept talking to him keeping him from losing consciousness,he insisted on remove the helmet,when he did he went into seizure,ambulance arrived then

I have, and it doesnt take that long depending on where you are, but I also got denied by my insurance for urgent care on the ambulance because it was considered "out of network" so they want me to pay 950 bucks for an ambulance ride. Um......I was hit head on by a car while riding a motorcycle and my helmet stayed on until the EMT's arrived at the scene. My helmet was remover by trained medical people, not my friends. My friends made sure that I did not move at all. They knew what to do. Your guess was wrong.
in my case i waited EMT's to arrive more than 30 mins...and talking about trained personel who know what to do....i was asked to walk (on my own) in the ambulance vehicle with my knee wide open and bones striking out. that much about professional health care...

Only problem is that the helmet wouldnt have kept his skull from collapsing because it just wraps around the outside of your cranium, it doesnt hold it together. If his cranium really was smashed, then the helmet hasn't done much, most often you can get a brain concussion from a hard blow because your brain moves and slams against the skull

Never remove the helmet in case of neck fracture. Do not move patient unless in danger. Make comfortable and monitor until ambulance arrives. Do not attempt to transport to hospital. Reassure and take care of bike for victim. Buy motocross neck and back supports if you are going to do stunts.

Looks like he took all the weight on his right shoulder. Judging from the spasms he probably dislocated it. I think once EMS establishes you can move your limbs implying little if no spinal damage they remove the helmet - it's got to come off at some point.

asking him to move his hands doesnt prove he doesnt have a neck injury. also asking him to move his head doesnt prove anything either. help him ly flat on his back,hold his head still..hes going to want to move hes in pain but YOU must take control. keep him talking, ask about specific things. 911 then- are your arms or legs tingling? do you think you broke anything?

im ofa level 3, i think im in a position to say whats correct in helping an injured person.
flat on back is the best position because the spine is straight and the head is easy to hold. if it causes the person pain they can be on a side but its hard to hold the persons head straight for a while.
i didnt say the person isnt in a state of mind to tell you whats wrong i said they cant make good decisions.

if you watch, the guy didnt take his helmet off right away, he said no fucking way. Once he started asking questions that required a responsive reply, he took it off. I race on the track and people crash EVERY track day, and EMS is standing by, they dont leave helmets on and load people in the ambulance. I dont recall a track day crash that the EMS left the helmet on the person.

I have, and it doesnt take that long depending on where you are, but I also got denied by my insurance for urgent care on the ambulance because it was considered "out of network" so they want me to pay 950 bucks for an ambulance ride. Next time for me, if I can lay in the back of a truck or in a car, Im not using ambulance service.

Um......I was hit head on by a car while riding a motorcycle and my helmet stayed on until the EMT's arrived at the scene. My helmet was remover by trained medical people, not my friends. My friends made sure that I did not move at all. They knew what to do. Your guess was wrong.

in my case i waited EMT's to arrive more than 30 mins...and talking about trained personel who know what to do....i was asked to walk (on my own) in the ambulance vehicle with my knee wide open and bones striking out. that much about professional health care...

Amen. My friend who's a cop took a guys helmet off because he just wrecked and was complaining about a headache and when he took the helmet off the man died because his skull collapsed. Most motorcycle wrecks they XRAY through the helmet before removing it.

Im sure that case of your friends accident discovery wasnt at 15 miles per hour either. Ive PERSONALLY been in a crash and broke a rib and bruised lung, went down at 80 mph, and the EMS removed my helmet. So, I dont see where you get the knowledge of MOST motorcycle wrecks. Stop making up statistics. You dont know.

Only problem is that the helmet wouldnt have kept his skull from collapsing because it just wraps around the outside of your cranium, it doesnt hold it together. If his cranium really was smashed, then the helmet hasn't done much, most often you can get a brain concussion from a hard blow because your brain moves and slams against the skull

I broke my collar bone,and sometimes your nerve gets pinched so you can't move your fingers very well.
Also the touching of the nose etc.
The way they dealt with the helmet was a necessary first air precaution.
And you see they said "put him in the van" . Meaning they'll ship him out to the hospital.

Never remove the helmet in case of neck fracture. Do not move patient unless in danger. Make comfortable and monitor until ambulance arrives. Do not attempt to transport to hospital. Reassure and take care of bike for victim. Buy motocross neck and back supports if you are going to do stunts.
