  • Huh, was this made in oregon

  • Excellent video! great work. There are not many videos like this because most shops do not want to show it doesn't take all day to perform many of these upgrades.

  • Damn I wish I could work in a shop that mods VW/Audi's all day :(

  • Im sorry if this is a stupid question, but what kind of improvements would the LSD do for the car?

  • @foxxrider250r A mechanical limited slip differential puts power to both front wheels under acceleration so you get the best traction output possible. the stock built in limited slip (electrical) uses the ABS to control wheel spin and is not true limited slip.

  • That's what is getting done to may car with now. 99 Golf getting the Peloquin and SBC Stage III.

  • doing that in clean lightblue shirts.... amazing!

And that tranny is soooo clean...

But a good vid... i'm doing the same thing here on a 02M DRP and DRW (combining)

  • i guess this beats lying at the side of the road freezing cold and in the rain pulling a gearbox out, which ive done a couple of times :)

  • All in all how much did it cost for all the upgrades you did on this car? I'm saving up for a 2013 GTI and can't wait to come down and pay you guys a visit! Keep up the awesome work guys!!!

  • @dermagen About $16K all in. By 2013 that number could change!

  • @dermagen Haha the world ends in 2012 sorry

  • very pro, pleasure to watch u guys at work, wish all the mechanic were like u !!!

  • Hi, just a few questions since u guys are experts, i have a hard time opening up my MKV transmission box, my mechanic tells me he needs a special tool is this true ?

A second questions is when i add the LSD to my car do i need to upgrade the clutch too ? thanks a lot guys !

  • How does this LSD work with the electronic LSD? Are they compatible or do the electronics get in the way of it's functionality?

  • A few people have asked about tools used (specifically the electric stuff) those are Snap On and Bluepoint electric impact guns and mini-drivers for the small stuff. The digital torque wrenches are also Snap On.

  • Did you guys keep turning on the torque wrench AFTER it beeped? Not sure if it's the same with digital wrenches but manual ones lose their calibration over time.

    Great vids though and subscribed.

  • @jjrock5 Yes the torque spec was just over the limit of that ratchet so we compensated a touch to hit the desired spec.

  • I bet these guys would charge a fortune to get all that work done to my GTI.

  • @RaizaR1 You'd be surprised how affordable it really was/is, but definitely check out our Stage 2 package, VERY hard to beat the dollar to HP ratio those mods deliver.

  • WOW nice shop and even better mechanics. Would love to drive that GTi. How much did you charge for that job!?

  • @Mailme81 The diff/clutch w/labor are about $2200, the Stage III labor is $700, Intercooler about $350

  • sweet !!! YOU GUYS ARE LIKE SURGEONS!!!!

  • @HENRIKVGN Thank you!

  • nice videos & very good job

  • @Nikos8ight Thanks a lot-

  • this might be a stupid question, but what happens to the xds when the lsd is installed? does it still try to apply brake pressure even with the lsd in place?

  • Because of the nature of the system (cutting throttle, applying brake to slipping wheel) we turn the traction control off before really getting on the car. In theory the Peloquin should avoid the XDS from ever needing to work even if it was left on.

  • Wow sorry my mistake. I ment Why didn't you shim the diff. There was no Dial indicator in the video.

  • Just edited out for the sake of time, the case was assembled four times to get it right, pretty boring. There's pics in the Flickr gallery.

  • Thats to set the end play on the output shaft bearings. Without shimming the bearings wear prematurely and howl.

  • NIce to see Mitch back in the shop. Good work dudes.

  • this shop is hella nice!!!!!

  • Great videos of this MKVI build! Why was the drill press used on the diff install? That part made me nervous! :-)

  • Thats how you remove the rivets used to hold the stock diff on to the ring gear, you drill them out then blow them off with an air chisel.

  • Is it now better than the electronic LSD?

  • Indeed. The electric LSD "XDS" just applies brake pressure to the slipping side, there's no true transfer of power like a mechanical limited slip.

  • Plus it heats up your braking components unnecessarily.
