  • I just heard of Starlost today. Added it to my Netflix Q.

  • I had the opportunity to see all the episodes of Space 1999 and Starlost on DVD and I have to say that there was a reason both of these series were cancelled (Starlost was especialy dismal and was put out of its misery before it could even finish season one!). Both series were spurned on by the success of 2001 Space Odessy and the fact that the original Star Trek series was gaining popularity in TV syndication, plus the Apollo missions. But even this wasn't enough to save these two stinkers!

  • LOL, a lot of these shots are from Space: 1999, not Starlost, but I'll give you credit for a good job of combining the Eagle flight with the moon replaced by the Starlost ark in the one shot. Nice work. The music is by Alan parsons Project btw and was never used on Starlost.

  • Yeah, what is this songs title. I've heard it before somewhere.

  • Alan Parsons, Eye in the Sky (I believe), circa 1982. Cheerz

  • The Alan Parsons Project, "Sirius"

  • These two shows were the TV Scifi that came out after 2001:A Space Odyssey but before Star Wars, and they both have the 2001 influence: the settings are coldly technological and eerie and the themes are awesomely intellectual and philosophical. On those scores, they've never been matched before or since.

  • Does anyone know if these episodes are available on DVD??

  • @BobbyCrispy

    checkout amazon

  • My God I miss the mid 70s! That *WAS* science fiction, not this dreary imitation they pass off as science fiction nowadays! I mean, Speace:1999, The Starlost, Silent Running, Doctor Who on The Ark in Space, UFO and Blakes 7...all those sterile white corridors, ominous computer voices, flashing red warning signs and tales of dead Earth and chilling voyages into the sterile void of space...brrr!

  • Yeah, you've noticed that about the Ark in Space & Starlost?!

  • Definitely, yeah, so much so, I wondered if the Dr.Who people were doing a Space:1999 take-off when they made Ark in Space...but the Earthship Ark has many similarities to Nerva that Moonbase Alpha didn't. The mid-70s sure was great. Apparently George Lucas visited the makers of 1999 to see how they did the FX before he made Star Wars. The eps "War Games" and "Mission of the Darians' have a lot in common with Star Wars.

  • Think about it, the BBC refused to help the Canadian corporation that was making this show yet within a year Doctor Who comes up with the 'Ark in Space' which looks similar in plot to Starlost!!

  • Man...talk about abstract mysteries in space...move aside Star Trek..here comes Space 1999 and Star Lost

  • Neato! Love the Alan Parsons application to the merge of Starlost and Space 1999, kind of my ethereal faves, these old shows.

  • MOST Impressive!

I too, a fan of both series, found this "blending" to be GREEEEEAT!

    Keep 'em coming...............

  • space 1999 was my favorite show followed by battlestar galactia and startrek..........

  • what is that song's title??? Thanks...

  • Not too shabby -keep up the good work.

  • Great blend of two "lost" series, Space 1999 and The Starlost. These were both faves of mine when I was a kid. I liked the choice of music too.
