"Mein Wahlspruch ist: 'Erlaubt ist, was gefällt!'" - und das in einem Film aus Nazi-Deutschland! :-)
What can one say. She was awesome. Incredible- I dont understand why she was treated as badly as she was in her own country , Sweden when she returned, It's not like swhe was a a war cfriminal, She was a singer! and She did not even become a German citizen during her long carreer in Germany.
What a Woman she must have been with that voice and thet height(she was very tall).
I understand. Zarah Leander was a great singer but she sang for Hitler and other nazis. Think about Marlene Dietrich! She didn't sing for nazis! Never!
She sang for soldiers fighting against Bolshevism, alicja20020 - a bunch of far-worse swine who between 1918 and 1936 had slaughtered 80 million innocents, and who had already had one unsuccessful go at doing the same thing in Germany.
That's right, alicja20020, Marlene Dietrich didn't sing for the Wermacht soldaten, rather she sang for the American GI's - the albeit latterday combatants in this terrible and (with hindsight), needless conflict - so, presumably, in your eyes, Marlene, a German by the way, could do this with impunity, whereas, by comparison, is was not reasonable for her showbusiness counterpart Zarah Leander to go on singing to the audiences she had entertained for several years before the outbreak of war ?
Hollywood's greatest loss was to ignore this talented beauty. She remains Germany's enduring legacy, and, all question of politics aside, no one can say that under the National Socialist regime, film, talent or entertainment was in any way inferior to what Hollywood was producing at the same time. Clearly, UFA was producing entertainment on a par with Hollywood's finest efforts, thanks to talented stars like Zarah Leander. It's a shame how she was treated after the war.
Absolutely, but could it be that Hollywood is - and always was - run by a bunch of nepotistic, invertedly-racist profit-lusting overfed dwarfs who are more concerned with membership of one clan for acceptance into their exclusive enclosure than they are with demonstrable talent or the ability to entertain to the standard of this explary artiste ?
My sentiments entirely, debunks; my personal view being that the Kinematic output of UFA transcended that of Hollywood, in every way - from the point of view of quality, taste and talent - the stories being credible, and the casts being chosen from a country whose history can be traced over 2,000 years, and not 300, as in the case of the United States of America, which, but for the rare and inate talents of their Central European immigrant movie-moguls, would have been spartan, to say the least.
I must admit that I didn't know Zarah Leander before. I have known her here, on YOU TUBE. I'm Polish and I grow up in Poland. In my country music of Zarah Leander and other "UFA singers" where forbidden for many years because of their nazi audience.
Now, when I know Zarah's Leander songs, I must admit - I like them very much! But - a part of my family were victims of the Second World War. They were prisoners and slaves and were treated very badly by Germans during II World War.
Dear alicja20020, my heart goes out to you and your family, as inevitable victims of this horrible conflict - and particularly in view of what you say - I can understand the stance of your loved ones, having had to submit to such inhuman degredation, albeit at the hands of *some* Nazi soldiers and no doubt petty officials, which sadly is part of the evil side of all-out war. Zarah, I would like to think, was *mug-in-the-middle*, in that although A-political she was villified for simply singing.
fand ich immer schon geil! ich habe alle 78rpm von Zarah. aber auch alle. auch die schwedischen!

It's nice to see entertainment once in a while that doesn't have that jewish taste and smell to it, like all of american media has.

Es müsste eine DVD geben, nur mit diesen Ausschnitten und man könnte sie groß am TV betrachten.Aber so ist es ja auch schon schön.
