The church webcasts all choral services, and they are available both live and on-demand. For the website, google Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue. (For some reason it won't let me post the link here)
@pohsiBRD That explains the polite and indifferent reaction to the attacks of those who are against you spreading the word via this video and thanking you rather than beat you down. So I say Thank You!
Thanks for your compassionate understanding. But we have to thank first of all this great choir and organist for the amazing talent of a gift they share with us. And of course St Thomas Church. Happy New Year. God bless.
wow way to be a jerk about me and my brothers ok now i may sound like a goon bu we rock and thats fact now that i am not in the st.thomas choir i can say that being a boy in this choir is probably summed up in these psalms sooooooo it may not be ""rare"" but its epic soo doom on you mr .tango choirboy 4 life
They are chanting a psalm in 4-part Anglican chant from the 20th century, it is not a "performance" and it is not "rare" in traditional Episcopal parishes where it is part of the normal worship services any time of day (usually in larger cities). Here the choir sings it but it can be done by a congregation as well with a little effort. My dad sang in this choir as a boy in the 1930's and it gave him a great experience which he treasured the rest of his life. A great spiritual resource for NYC.
You are blessed to have your father and family as having the great experience of singing Anglican chant in a choir. The next best thing is to sing it robustly in an active congregation.
Anglican Chant is one of the most wonderful forms or music. It trancends one from earth to heaven. It is a great shame that in most parish churches it is almost forgoten. The music on this video is sung to the glory of God not to the glory of man. It would be a great shame for this video is removed for then the glory of man would be seen above the glory of God.
[] just a piece of Anglican Chant hardly does this unique musical form any justice. Nearly 100 percent of the tunes from the Psalter, regardless of the version, are not anonymously composed as any St. Thomas chorister would know. St. Thomas probably now uses The Anglican Chant Psalter to which Dr. Hancock was a consultant; copyright 1987 by The Church Pension Fund.
From a former chorister who grew-up in the English Cathedral Men and Boy Choir tradition.
I received a message from St. Thomas asking to delete the post. But as I listened once again to the heavenly sounds, I hesitated as I replied: "I opine that the post imparts to a greater audience the good that your service and your music makes", May I ask what's the opinion of other viewers. Thanks.
Up to now I haven't yet received communication from St. Thomas Church. May I ask other viewers whether or not I should delete this video post.. What thinkest thou? Thanks.
thanks for posting! I haven't been to this amazing place in months! I get to spend my second summer here singing in the girls choir and I can't wait! They sound phenomenal here!
Thanks too for your comment. Nice to have strangers-friends appreciate a most treasured secret of a place and music. My only regret was not after the service to approach them and ask:
who is the composer, a copy of the music sheet and words so I can follow their song everytime I play this.
Thanks again, the melody line is absolutely haunting, plus the voices the arrangement and the great pipe organ all combined are like made in heaven. I know you're into old religious music. Go for it.
I used to sing in that choir about 10 years ago. What they're singing there is just a piece of Anglican chant, as far as I know there is not credited composer.
What song is this?

Yes I was surprised too.

I'll pardon the camera movements, as well as pardon you from filming this worship instead of devoting it to the Him who has called to you there.

@Singingjacobus
Thanks for the pardons. But I can't pardon your grammar, Sir.

You probably did not notice, but in the service leaflet is published this statement
"Please Note: Unauthorized recordings at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue are prohibited."
Unless you have written permission from Fr. Mead and or Dr. Scott, this is an unauthorized recording.

May I possibly know the e mail ad of Fr. Mead and or Dr. Scott. Thanks
