thanx man u made my day im 49 now i met rick derringer a while ago at young circle in hollywood florida and exchanged a few emails with him recently about my video how to play rock and roll hoochie koo he was my highschool idol just like you pretty cool but we all really want the hot young chics !!!!!
I remember MTV using a bit of this in one of their promos around that time. BC Rich had just recently issued the Stealth model, the guitar that both Rick and the kid are playing in this video. I gather Rick was involved in designing, though after a couple years, he was doing ads for Steinberger. I think Bernie Rico Sr said once that BC Rich didn't build very many Stealth guitars.
The music lineup playing on the track is Rick Derringer lead vocals / lead guitar, Donnie Kisselbach bass, Alan Merrill rhythm guitar, Jimmy Wilcox drums. The song appeared on Derringer's "Good Dirty Fun" album. The trio here are miming, but with Rick are Kisselbach and Wilcox in this video clip. Merrill had moved on and gone solo on Polydor records when this was made.
My wife and I were talking and I said, I've heard all your stories. She said did you know I was in a music video. No, I said. She says, at Daytona Beach boardwalk, Rick Derringer, I Play Guitar. So I Google and this shows up. She's walking behind Rick for 15 seconds or so shaking her head to the music. She looks the same 27 years later :) Thanks for the post!
Thanks for posting this. I saw the vid once back in my college days and this is the first time since. Let's see, I used to know how to play the main riff at one time...
WOO HOO! Thanks bro for posting this! This was the video I saw when I finally said, "I'm going to buy a guitar & learn how to play" back in the 80's. I have searched far & wide for this video. I absolutely L-O-V-E this song! Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!
Hey Asilazi, can I swipe this from you? Peace and Love ~
