  • waw u have helped me. im going to japan in august for two months. hope i meet u :D

  • I'm a 17-year old male and I've been to the dentist once in my life. I believe I was 6 years of age, and my teeth turned out fine!

Well I can't say it would be the same for everyone else.

  • The only stereotypes I've really heard about Asians/Japanese in general is that the males have small penis' and they're very studious.

    Nothing else really.

  • You hit on a really good point--teeth care isn't that important in Japan or Asian. In fact, having crooked teeth (especially crooked canines or forward canines) are considered really cute.

  • I never heard anything about Japanese having bad teeth, I thought that was a British stereotype (no offense to British people BTW).

  • ... If thats the case i'll be well accepted in japan -.-;;

  • How long did it take you to fluently speak japanese? is it hard? cause im japanese but i dont know the language... =[

  • ...Your pretty.:)

    You've been to japan?

  • It is good to see someone from the bay area out in Japan. What part of the bay area are you from if you don't mind? I went to Tokyo for new years week and I agree with the teeth issue. It was like 1 out 3 people had really bad teeth!

  • And this whole time I thought Japanese women naturally had high squeaky voices lol!

As far as the teeth go, Ive never been to Japan but I have noticed when I travel to other countries teeth are just not as big of a deal as it is hear in America. Im not saying everyone is walking around with a Yuck Mouth however you can get away with having crooked, rabbit, overbites, or not so white looking teeth.

  • lol i know what you mean with the teeth stuff. when i first got there i was like O_O so they were right....

but i also wondered why most didnt pay much attention to their teeth so this is really interesting....oh and i also wondered about the high voice and why older women usually didnt do it. haha, well i dont know if youve been to tokyo disney, but that girl at the small world ride has the most high pitched voice in the world. actually, it's exactly like alvin and the chipmunks :p

  • You must be rich to be living in Japan im jealous.

  • LOL @ guys doing checks on each other.

  • In terms of being cute it all depends on who is viewing you thats for sure. Japan is still very much developing woman rights so it might take a little while before its like the west. Personally i like when someone acts like the real them, i don't like fakes. I also think you are very cute in your strong minded woman behavour.

  • Interesting.

I need to go to Japan now.

  • Haha, great vid.

  • wow hun you have an interesting life! I ♥ the japanese culture heehee ^-^ I really would like to visit Japan someday

  • As a black woman who lived in Okinawa Japan, I definitely noticed the teeth difference. I didn't realize it was because it wasn't as important. I had been told by a Dentist that their is no flouride in the water so I thought that was partly to blame. I dont know what part of Japan you were in (I just happened upon your vids and haven't watched the all), but in Okinawa the girls weave kinky hair into their own. Did they do that where you were?

  • What! I wish!!! I wouldn't be going through these hair struggles out in the middle of nowhere lol

  • Let me tell! I actually did not go natural until I moved to Japan. It was either that or get a Japanese perm (which I did not like) and I had been thinking about going natural anyway so it all worked out, lol.

  • you know i was in transition for a minute then gave in around winter. I need a stylist something bad. It was the same deal when i had my locks, lol my stylist (mom) was my saving grace. I went to college and got my first perm junior year. i like straight hair and all but i miss the weight and protection of braids. I will be on a strict wash, press, cornrow diet when i get back lol

  • Lol, I would put on a wig in a minute lol! When I didn't have anybody to braid and I didn't feel like doing twist-outs or braid-outs Wigs saved my life. The best twists I ever had was when I went to Kenya this summer. 5 girls micro twisted my hair in 2 hours for $30. I want to go back for that alone lol.

  • @oneblkwoman wooo oki all day

  • you are so right about the cute topic, I watch a lot of asian dramas and i've notice that they play into that cute act, with the high pitched voices and over dramatic girly behavior, it can be annoying.

  • I take it you don't have GPS for directions. LOL. Nice vid.

  • Another one you might want to address is the idea that Japanese people do not like or have a bit impresion of Black people.

What I noticed during my time in Japan is that the media may not present the best images of Blacks but once most Japanese people work with or are exposed to a Black person they are more likely to release their preconceived notions.

    Just my two cents....

  • when you were describing the walk.. I was imaging the Hunch back of notre dame XD Or like a zombie hahahahahaha

  • I love your hairstyle here too

  • This video was great!!

  • About the male genitalia parts *cough cough* porn *cough cough*

  • lol i was laughing out loud like really about how they act cute, but good info :) thanks for your awesome videos

  • Great vid! 5*

    I hope for a part two! :D

I've heard about the teeth, too. The "cute" teeth protruding from the gums are called "yaeba," I believe.

  • i luv ur hair its beautiful

  • you're so cute! and you have opened my eyes to a lot of stuff in japan haha :)

  • Another stereotype about Japanese people is that they look a lot alike....

but besides squinty eyes they all have their own unique features.

    Thanks for the vid! :)

  • This was a very good video. Thank you.

  • i think the teeth thing has to do with all the tea also

  • Really interesting.

You should continue with this with a part 2 :)

  • ..."I looked around and there are some, some interesting looking teeth around here". Hilarious!!!!! I understand. I made the same realization regarding the difference in the western view of dental care.

  • So glad you feel better. I agree people are the same..playing dumb/acting cute (i.e Valley Girl) for attention I guess is WorldWide. I guess it's human nature girl/women acting cute to get what they want. Different cultures have different priorities in terms of beauty, skin, ears, neck, teeth, hair a certain way. I would think size varies within any race, plus size only should be an indication of what type of lover you are. If you are the selfish lover size don't matter.

  • I like you hair like this! Is very pretty on you...You don't look sick at all, you look pretty! I'm glad you feeling better. xoxo

  • one stereotype i realized was not true was the one about how Japanese people are such "hard workers". Well, that is BULLsh*t especially in Osaka. I've seen it in other places as well.

  • I agree I worked for a Japanese company and I will say some of the middle managements and top management is Japanese. I will say they spend a lot of hours on the job but in terms of working hard they delegate it. People are people some work hard some don't.

  • Yeah thanks!! While I'll admit that some people tend to work long hours, but during that time are they actually doing "work"? Often times, I found it to not be true. Working long hours or staying around the office/workplace for a long time just makes it seem as if you've busted your ass and looks impressive to ones superiors. Also, I've seen private businesses pull impromptu schedules and these things shattered my image of the "hard working" Japanese stereotypes almost immediately upon arrival.

  • Great video. Maybe you'll do a pt 2.

PS, I'm from the Bay Area, too. Oakland

  • Lol Purposely put on a high pitch voice!?!?! I find it a burden honestly.. :( If I could change my voice I would...

I dont respect girls who Dumb themselves down just for a guy..

  • stereotypes can be good. Judgement is an important evolutionary tool, and lets not forget that stereotypes do not arise out of thin air, they are based upon some universal truths. There is a reason why people say that italian men are more flirtatious than say, norwegian men. the problem is allowing your assumptions, and judgements to go unchallenged, and using it as a tool to write an entire group off. really enjoyed your video.

  • -ive seen some interesting japanese teeth as well. i figured dental care was expensive there because ive seen so many w/ bad teeth

    - are you sure that the wedding hats are for that purpose? sounds like he was making a sarcastic joke.

    -ive measured myself! :)

P.S.-nothing can throw you off more than a fine girl w/ jacked up teeth

  • the hat part in marriage is true.

  • haha, I think it's safe to say that every woman, no matter what race, has the devil horns after the marriage.

  • @MistressTarantula hahahaha I was gonna say the same~! HAHAHAHAH so true XDDDD

  • Indeed, very interesting video :)

will there be a part 2?...

  • hey you are pretty!

  • very informative stuff !!!

  • Beauty's an Ideal

  • was that too much???

  • lol maybe a bit

  • @intro2the1

U have some people that r well endowed but don't know how to work "it" while u have some people that are small who know what to do"

    P.S. I overheard a prostitue saying this...lol

  • Good for you then, but I can never understand though why guys feel the need to boast about their size. The female population doesn't even give a care, and the only ones that seem to give it any thought are other guys. Ya really dont see us women boasting about our breast sizes in retrospect lol. Just an observation.

  • Interesting about the pigeon toe thing because that's something that is deemed cute in the black community too some what.

  • yea i noticed that when i was in high school now that you mention it.

  • really??? i never saw that. but again I probably was not even paying attention

  • i never saw that either. hrm...interesting. and i'm black. now i'm going to look for pigeon toed girls.

  • I went to an all black school and noticed the same thing to it probably just wasnt to the extent that you were talking about though.

  • the high voice aka the anime voice.

  • A Great Perspective!

On the subject of the 'Male Genitalia'....I don't want to get into that either. ;-)

The first thing I would do after arriving in Japan: Try some Sushi (I have eaten plenty of it here in Boston).

THEN, take a ride on the Shinkansen.

    Model Train Store searching! =D

I may not know a word of Japanese....but I do know HOW to shop when looking and paying for Train Models. ;-)

5 Stars. Great video. I know the ending got cut off....it's cool! ^_^

  • What a good question! Can you exspand on this more? Pt. 2 yay!

  • good video (笑)

  • Thank you for all of your videos. :)

This was na awesome question I'm really glad you discussed it
