  • Am I the only one who noticed the amazingly done Dogs guitar solo?

  • FU MANCHUUUUUUUUUU

  • "You need more Electric Wizard in your life."

    Amen.

  • By ear i can't discern... whether the all-pass filter section could be a phaser or a flanger...

    Can someone clarify it?

  • @griyoudoo This is more akin to a phaser. To be a tad more technical: Flangers modulate by mixing in a delayed version of the dry signal, phasers modulate by layering an out-of-phase all-pass filter over your dry signal.

  • @FragileTaylor Thank you!

  • I'm currently torn between this and the zvex fuzz factory. Anybody out there own both?

  • i was sold after i heard rusty cage by soundgarden :D

  • Amp used?

  • I will say something that wont make me too popular.... Who wants a sound like that? I mean, with all the gorgeous and expressive valve tones you can have... why try to sound like a broken amp? I can understand there may be a place for a sound like that in a passage or for some psychedelic bits, but just bits. I cant be your main sound. I am not necessarly refer to this particolar Fuzz, I talk about that kind of sound in general. A Fuzz Face or a Tone Bender are different. just my opinion

  • @aledelverne - This could easily be your main sound. There are whole genres of music based on this kind of sound. You need more Electric Wizard in your life.

    -PGS

  • @aledelverne: Your question: Who wants a sound like that? Queens of the Stone Age, Smashing Pumpkins, White Stripes, Raconteurs, the doom metal genre including Russian Circles, Atlas Moth...etc. So not only is this type of "broken amp" tone used widely its been used to sell millions of records and made its mark on modern music in ways not many people are capable of doing. That answer your question?

  • love the lfo, sounds like a phase wah or something

  • GIMME SOME MORE!!!

  • If Josh Homme ever lost his hands in some accident then he can hire Andy to fill in his guitar parts.

  • best opening song

  • Gotta have it! I suppose I could get a similar sound with my Big Muff and a phaser but you can never have too many pedals.

  • chuck norris went to guitar center and saw how bad it sucked... that he gave it a roundhouse kick and turned it into proguitarshop.

  • Man... I love unique pedals like this! What a great concept (the expression pedal controlled filter). Props to Malekko.

  • @FiveseveNp90 I can only imagine the kind of music you're into...

  • I just bought a Fulltone Ultimate Octave fuzz from the PGS website two days ago...

I live in England, will it arrive before Christmas? I won't really need it until January, but I still can't wait :P

    Thanks :D

  • Rastyyyyy Cage!

  • For those like me who love how this fuzz sounds but the price is a bit much, check out EHX's Big Muff Pi w/ tone wicker...lets you bypass the tone control for that all-out fuzz sound. Not quite the same but similar. PGS has a great demo of it, check it out.

  • If I wanted a fuzz, this would be the one I would want.

  • "no shoes, no shirt, no dice!"

    fu manchu?! right on!

  • This fuzz sounds like demented grizzly bears from hell! I LOVE IT!

  • Cool Stoner-riffs!

  • He's not always trying to mimic songs exactly. People.

  • A little QotSA? me likey... sounds killer playing that riff.

  • Millionaire!!!

  • By the way, Andy, you're doing an AWESOME job!

  • Thumbs up if you think ProGuitarShop should give us information about all the guitars and amps used in trying out the pedals.

  • Can the all pass filter be used solo or filter can't used without the fuzz?

  • Dang! QOTSA and St. Vincent! Andy has the best demos!

  • awesome pedal, awesome pedal manufacturer, awesome playing.

  • God i love that pedal... best fuzz i've heard, if anyone can think in one that's better let me know

  • It baffles me how well Andy plays...and then I remember he does it without a pick. Whoa.

  • @JimboMansonMB1 so does mark knopfler

    Andy's the man!

  • LOVE that Hagstrom Swede !

  • @indieclock I'm proud to be from Sweden!

  • Malekko rules. Andy's playing out of this world.

  • are you trying to play millionaire by queens of the stone age? i think the beginning part of that riff is a little off..

  • I love the song Dogs so much. And Andy plays it so wonderfully.

  • Another winner for Malekko. (Dang! Just one more pedal to buy!) I like that more pedal makers are adding an expression input. It's a great trend.

  • What guitar you playing there in the intro?

  • @Silverb0lte First guitar he played was a Hagstrom, Swede, Super Swede or Ultra Swede......

  • that fuzz filter is SO DIRTY!!!!

  • Yeah! Don't be afraid to get these Fenders bak into these demos! You could even use SGs in your pedal demos...

  • Very very skanky pedal, I <3 it!! I really hate all the PGS fuzz demo's only because I generally put another name on the list of pedals I must have or at least muck around with!

  • What is the first and last guitar?

  • FU MANCHU!!

  • FU MANCHU!!

  • You sly Dogs you!

  • Another great video from PGS and great playing from Andy really makes my day when I come home and listen to your riffs. Keep up the good work guys.

  • Nice.

  • I needed to have a shower after watching this because I felt so dirty.

  • How it sound with bass?

  • Hey Andy - I'm in PDX this week working at the Conv. Center - Would like to come down and say hello. Will you be around Thurs/Fri PM ? Will leave info on Facebook.

  • Mix of Rusty Cage and You Think You Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire? Schweet.

  • That's such a sexy pedal!!! I love your videos by the way!

  • Is this pedal compatible with a 9v battery adapter?

  • I think I'm in love

  • gimme some more! gimme some moreee!!!

  • Me likey Andy....

  • Holy shit

  • With the G&L, it's almost exactly the John Frusciante tone

  • FINALLY!!!! ive been waiting 45 minutes for a new fuzz pedal to come out...

  • This is a fuzz you would not take home to meet your mother. It is a dirty whore, but i can't resist!

  • Thanks for using brand name guitars! Helps a lot in my purchasing decisions!

  • haha funny.. I was thinking "yeah, this would be great for Black Keys type stuff!"

and as soon as i think that, out comes "Goodbye Babylon" :P

    awesome, Andy :)

  • Thickfreakness

  • dogs was so beautiful...

  • no shoes no shirt no dice

  • fu manchuuu

  • love the G& L on this one.

  • i have to say... for having a really cool brand name, malekko has rather uncreative pedal names... that being said this thing fuckin rocks!!!

  • What is better from Oregon; Agalloch or PGS? Both are epic.

  • nice to see you playing a Hagstrom! I own a Super Swede, and its my main guitar. I love it.

  • I love how much andy plays qotsa. Makes me happy :D

  • Rusty Cage?!

  • 'Handmade in Portland OR' - why did no one stick a bird on it and call it art?

  • @aeropagitica The dream of the 90's is alive in Portland!

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

what's with the graphics, UGH CARS MAN, WHYYYY? BICYCLE RIGHTS!

  • @carswell98 because nice cars=pussymagnets, and bicycles=fagmagnets. most people in the world are straight.

  • @Jacksonkellyfreak

It's a quote from the same TV show they quoted, fuck...

    *facepalm.jpg*

  • @Jacksonkellyfreak Maybe on paper

  • goodbye babylon..magic potion has some tasty riffs..of course noone here would know anything beyond the last two albums

  • another fuzz pedal?

  • Wow!!!! Fit for a Pig....

  • Juicebudjudd sent me!

  • the phase shift added needed rhythm. but one then runs into problems like pete townsend did with robo synth tracks.

  • Stoner rock in a box. I'll take 6.

  • There are some wonderful players doing demos, but you are the one!!

  • hey pgs, what brand/model is the funky looking oly white telecaster at 0.50?

  • "Obsolete components". And you think that's a PLUS, right?!

  • @FiveseveNp90 Quoted straight from Malekko "unearthed obsolete parts from a bygone era, carbon comp resistors and new old stock components.."

  • @FiveseveNp90 Well that depends on how many you have sitting in a warehouse. For example, The EHX DMM uses obsolete BBDs...which sound fantastic...luckily they have a warehouse full of them. Keep in mind "obsolete" doesn't necessarily mean not available.

  • @malekko1 You know what, I'm not gonna argue hipster aesthetics with you. I guess unrpairable gear will be worth more on eBay 10 or 20 years from now. In the world of electronics and technology in general "obsolete" means "no-one in their right mind would keep using these components so we're gonna stop making them".

Nothing personal, it's a cool effect and seems solidly built. And I know how gullible guitarists are and how they just love mojo components, but it just seems... wrong.

  • @FiveseveNp90 You realize that tube amps use "obsolete components" right?? THAT'S WHAT TUBES ARE!

  • @Guitarisforgrins Precisely. And the guitarists' hesitance to move on is pretty much the only thing keeping the valve industry (barely) alive.

"Oh noes, now he's dissin' our beloved tube amps! Stone him!"

Oh, wake up and smell the coffee. It's not 1950 anymore.

  • @FiveseveNp90 Dude, come on. Have you ever played a solid-state amp at a gig, while your bandmate is playing through a valve amp and you're both cranked? I have. There is literally no contest. There's a reason people are so defensive over tube amps, and it's due to the simple reason that they sound better.

  • @malekko1 I wouldn't want a $2,000,000 in-place arena system based on out-of-manufacture components if I could help it - but a $200 guitar stomp box - no big deal. My only question - what happens if and when you do run out or if the unit needs service -- I'm assuming there is some modern equiv. you can plug in - correct? The vintage "sound" is often the result of unexpected shortcomings in components. Some old cap. can't buffer a lower voltage correctly so it sounds "gnarlier" @9v., etc.

  • @FiveseveNp90 Die Troll Die!

  • Pink Floyd anyone?

  • I admire your fast footswitching! Or are your feet maybe invisible ... hmm

  • This is really cool. If I didn't already have a fuzz I'd be all over this. I mean I use my couple fuzz box's to create similar tones, but I have have to do more tap dancing than I'd have to do with this.

  • this shit sounds fat

  • Dogs!

  • QOTSA AND THE BLACK KEYS!!!!!

  • soundgardeeeeeen (: (rusty cage)

  • You pay so much for an amp, and then stick these in front of them. What a waste.

  • @maneatingtoilets - Yeah, like when Hendrix stuck those silly fuzz pedals in front a perfectly good Marshall stack... :)

    -PGS

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos the perfect pedal for soundgarden and smashing pumpkins

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Still a waste in my opinion. Too much tone coming from a pedal once youve payed so much for the amp, maybe its the amps that are my problem.

  • @maneatingtoilets I am sorry but you were just owned haha

  • @maneatingtoilets

Hey, good amps will make these things sound even better. Preamp and powertube distortion plus fuzz can make for a powerful experience when compared to a crap transistor amp being pushed with a fuzz pedal. If you like clean jazzy chords with no effects that's your thing. Some people like to overwhelm the listener with distorted power chords and bass lines.

  • @HenryJackification Depends on the fuzz. In my experience, Big Muffs lose some of their character though a cranked amps.

  • @maneatingtoilets SHUT UP NERRRRRRRRRRRRD

  • @maneatingtoilets you're a negative nancy! my pedals sound infinitely better infront of my orange thunderverb than any mediocre stack or combo i've used

  • @maneatingtoilets I agree for the most part. So many spout off about classic tube amp tone, and spend small fortunes on boutique amps, only to turn around and put 5-10 pedals in front of it. But even pedals like this will find a place in great music... just depends on the artist. And yes, Jimi Hendrix was one such artist. Hope there's more out there.

  • qotsa?

    um..

    PINK FLOYD anyone?

  • queens of the stone age!!!!!!

  • @binladensassassin What song is it!

  • @binladensassassin took me a second but i got it :D

  • Probably not something I would use but it sounds cool! Great playing as usual, Andy!

  • the intro sounds like a synth <3

  • FU MANCHU!!!

  • sounds like shit. as usual

  • @ThatBigMetalhead thats nicely said.

  • @ThatBigMetalhead

Fuzz is a terribly subjective thing my friend.

  • QOTSA in a box

  • Sounds fine with that Tele

  • cool graphic

  • Sounds, crazy but at the same time cool!

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

  • amazing playing as always Andy! Tell John and Scotty thanks for shipping all of that guitar greatness to all of your buyers during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend :)

  • This gets a like just for the Hagström guitar, on general principle.

  • wow qotsa awsome

  • Just in time... and QOTSA forever !!!!!
