Ive placed zip files in the /texture_packs folder...but they just appear greyed out...I read somewhere you should place them in the /bin for player models....does not work for me either >_>

The Minecraft(.)net website is the place where you should buy it. If you didn't buy it from there then well.... you probably wont get it. But you might have a more advanced version because the 1.8.1 update is the most recent. The one shown here is from 1.7.3 or less and there for is before the adventure update. Unless you can be more specific about it someone may not be able to explain it in a shorter way...

you instal the pack like this: the downloaded rar or 7zip must be placed in the texture pack folder witch is in the .minecraft folder and there all you do now is open the game and click on the texture pack button and click on the pack you want and click done. and this is it

@roryisme1 all you do is take your zip file unextracted or compressed and put it in the folder that comes up when you click "open texture pack folder" once you close the folder the texture pack will be in there for you.
