Sure, This thing call levitron. It made of 2 very strong magnets. One for the base and one for the top. The force of the magnet push each other that is why it can float. The top is spinning make it stable (same theory as Gyroscope or regular top. Once it stop the top loose its stability and fall.
if any one is confused about how this works, just send me a direct message, the secret lies in the way the magnets are engineered, nothing more,it levitating,or bouncing two norths or two souths off each other, with a week centre in the base object to give it some stability
KGittemeier--what is the principle of levitation? It seems to be a metallic (magnetic?) top of some sort. Is the base important? The first shots of the video showed the top spinning over a wooden tabletop. I would love to make one of these....and what is that contraption at the end? Good stuff!
This was long considered impossible. The base is a powerful magnet with a hole in the center creating a weak spot. The top is a magnet properly weighted to rest in the most stable part of the weak spot. The simple explanation is that the gyroscopic effect keeps the top from flipping over and allows the two to repel. In reality it is a little more complicated involving the way the magnetic lines crash into each other and the weak spot.
see these is how aliens travel...
