This is the first I've seen/heard them, but I used to see pix of them in old Metal Edge issues. I know they broke up; are they still out there at all? All I knew is they were Los Angeles-based and pretty much stayed in that area. They're a lot better than others I could name.

They broke out in 1988 with their debut cd on the Shrapnel Label , later to have their contract bought out by Geffen Records , a MAJOR label . The girls were students of GIT and took lessons from one of the hottest bands to ever come out of the Sunset Strip , RACER X ( you know , Paul Gilbert and them ) They were a force to be reckoned with .

In my opinion I think Meanstreak rhythm section is comparable to Phantom but vocals, guitar and material are not. I heard some okay solos but only average. Hear Michelle solo on Frantic Zone or Going Mad and it blows your mind! Thanks for leaving out the insults! peace

Although Phantom Blue will always be my favourite female metal group I have to admit that Meanstreak were pretty skilled too. They had that metal groove down and their album Road Kill rocks. Even technically speaking they were very good and were possibly the only competition for Phantom Blue. If they were able to outperform Phantom Blue? Well...I guess we'll never know, but take it from me: Michelle Meldrum and Co were technically seen extremely good on their instruments and ripped stages live!

Phantom Blue wrote their own (GOOD!) songs and that's another thing that set them apart from the rest. Live they displayed flawless musicianship combined with extreme power. Trust me, there was no competition for these ladies. Only wish that I could see them live again once more...

This is one of my favorite discs ever and that is no joke. I have to say if it wasn't for Grunge drowning and Dilluting metal they would have been the female Guns and Roses. Tremendous full sound and even more attitude. When Michelle went on to form Meldrum, she only got better with the influence from Zakk Wylde. She passed way too soon, she had alot more to share with the world. Hopefully this will bring her talent to the attention of those she never touched. The music is softer now... R.I.P.
