the whole on the bottom is for the touch users who's jack is on the bottom, the gamer grip comes with a case for the touch and a spacer to go below it so that is why the bottom has a headphone. i think that this is a good product my only complaint is i would rather the wieres go through the little clip at the to rather than the bottom where it is now, but i would give it atleast a 3 probably a 4/5
