Maria Sharapova - Wimbledon 2004

Maria fans seem to be going though what we Serena fans went through for a few years, most notably 2006. I mean, to me it looks like Maria's 2010 has been alot better than 09. She played extremely well at this years Wimbledon, and IMO could have at least made the semis. And given the types of players she would have had to face after that nightmare 4r meeting, who knows... The final WAS a walkover, y'know. If she works on her mobility, she can go back to winning big titles. Plus she's still young.

From that poit on, being a teen, I knew she was more than a pretty face. I knew she wasn't another Kournikova. SHe's shown it. 3 Grand slams tell me she's not in to be a celebrity as much as she is. I just hope she can raise her game to that of the one she had at the Aussie 08. She was a savage in AO 08. Demolishing anyone who got in her way...

I personally feel that Sharapova should focus on more tennis than modelling. Modelling is more about fame and beauty but tennis is all about victory and winning. If you're a professional tennis player, be a professional tennis player. Otherwise, you'll lose your balance.

You have to remember Maria is like no other athlete. If she is not doing something to her best, she will not do it. As long as she's playing tennis, you can be assured that she will give her 1111000%. Why is it so wrong for an athlete to have some other passions? It'll only make her a better and more settled person , which will help her game mentally rather than be an unbalanced indvidual. Remember: Maria is truly one in a billion and this is not even an understatement.

You are very defensive. How 1111000% can she give? After all her exaggerate newly designed Nike outfit didn't work for the game. Shame to see that. Call her hot pretty or whatever believe me it doesn't impress some tennis fans at all. I do support Sharapova and I really have no intention to be mean. Serena deserves to win because she puts all her effort in her game.

@rexsonyful I agree. I cant believe that she has not even reached the last four of a grand slam since the Australian Open in 2008 which was nearly three years ago. If Maria wants to win another grand slam, she needs to put all of her focus and energy into working on it. I still think Maria can win a few more slams if she can put all of her heart and energy into working on it.

@rexsonyful Agree. At the same time she has 3 grand slams under her belt. Hopefully she'll continue to focus on tennis more than PR. Serena would be past 20 grand slams and 50 single's titles if she have had focused herself on tennis rather than endorsements and PR to be fair.

@u229758 It's very frustrating when you see your favorite player who used to be at top of the game began to get sunk gradually. it's true that she is one the highest paid female athlete in the world but the game she plays now is not as energetic as we hope for. PR more than game which I totally agree. For endorsement company, tennis is business, for player, tennis is energy. Energy is what she needs.

@rexsonyful Who are you to tell Maria on what she should be focusing on? It was her tennis that brought about all the modelling, sponsors, media interviews etc. Winning a grand slam title at age 17 started it. She was not only young but gifted with looks that rock the tennis world. The beautiful Nike outfits, that other players are now wearing as well, brings class, sophistication & glamor to the courts. Obviously, if people are mediocre, so are the comments!
