I don't really understand the logic behind heel first = tap... I wish the camera man wasn't an idiot and focused more on the feet. but those "heel first" moves at the front of the video were flat footing which is very much a style of clogging.
It absolutely is clogging. It's not precision clogging with jingle taps--it's a fusion of some Cape Breton and traditional Appalachian styles, but it is clogging, and it's good clogging.
this is NOT clogging!! it's tap. but i must admit that it was pretty good. i compete in acapella and this tap routine could probably beat a lot of clogging acapellas. but i'm still partial to clogging
Just because this isn't what YOU recognise as clogging, doesn't mean that it's not clogging. There are many different types of clog dancing, and this is one of them.
I am sorry but this is just tap dancing, this is not clogging, they are very good, but you might want to correct the name of it becuase it is a ccepella tap dancing, not clogging.
We learned to clog at 5 and 7. Subsequently, we learned steps from Irish Step to rhythm tap to Appalachian clogging to French Canadian to hambone and beyond. We developed our own style that we continued to call "clogging" or "percussive dance" over the years. Our style is still most informed by clogging, not tap. There are many styles of percussive dance and many names for very similar styles. Even the most informed observers have trouble telling the difference.
Absolutely awesome

Hm. On Mike Seeger's documentary "Talking Feet", one of the buck dancers talks about how buck is in the heel and *tap* is all about the *toe*.

On that note, the Seeger documentary also looks at the hand slapping rhythms used along side flatfooting--pretty cool.

I agree w/an earlier. Sometmes its hard to tell today's clogging from tap. Personally
I love the old-time buck & flat-footing, I'd love if you did more of that on Youtube.

Why not start or end off all of your live performances that way?
