AP, NY Times, LA Times. That's it? And it's their stats vs. Army stats? Unreal, and clowns will probably go read these articles and think they know what's up.
BOMBSHELL! Sidney Blumentahl has a new article at Salon. The CIA told Bush BEFORE the war that Saddam had NO WMDs. "Bush dismissed as worthless this information from the Iraqi foreign minister, a member of Saddam's inner circle, although it turned out to be accurate in every detail." THIS INTEL WAS NOT SHARED WITH ANY MEMBER OF CONGRESS. CONGRESS DID NOT SEE THE SAME AS INTELLIGENCE AS BUSH BEFORE THE WAR!
Actually, George Tenet, head of CIA at the time, presented the evidence of WMDs to GWB.
GWB: "That's it?" (hardly any evidence.)
GT: "It's a slam dunk."
Tenet was a puppet of Dick Cheney, and so is GWB. After the WMD debacle Tenet resigned, which left Cheney's people in charge of the CIA. Cheney is like Sith Lord Palpatine.
They must take the american people for fools!! With all the evidence stacked up against them how are they gonna get out of this? I thought david copperfield was the best magician in america? Support our troops and bring them home. Don't they realize that we are on hollyland fighting muslims are never gonna stop killing americans not as long as we are in the middle east. This civil war can go on forever so how much more time does bush boy want until Jan 08?
Josh, other statistics that are useful include increased number of Iraqis fleeing their homes and US deaths up in August over July and 3 other months this year. Deaths last month of US troops was higher than several months in 2006. Deadlist 3-month period this summer since war started, isn't it?
I think he gets an unfair rap from the online community.
We have the luxury of playing back his interviews to parse the muck from the truth. Blitzer has to do all that in real time--and all before commercial break. He also gets a rap just because he's so much the public face of CNN.
Anyways, I'm not trying to be a fanboy, but Blitzer deserves more credit from the online pajama people.
If they believe the surge is working, then why can't they give us the statistics which support their argument. Stop saying, "it's working, it's working," when you can't give us proof.
Blahcetera: Well, close but no cigar: "A failed surge means that an increase in troop levels has not worked, and that they should be brought home."
That's cute, but hopelessly naive. WHATEVER this "Administration" {Bush & Thugs, Inc.] may do, the result is always that they must do more of the same, irrespective of: the will of the American ppl, the law [whether Constitutional law here in [more below]
the States, or international law as embodied in treaties we've signed or U.N. declarations and mandates...] doesn't matter: the MoronPrince, Geo. II is the Decider: HE, not the sovereign ppl of the USA. We're fucked. So's the rest of the world. Only GeorgieBoy really counts: many MANY more senseless, useless deaths to come.
r9nger0ver: in a pig's eye: the US NEVER leaves such a playground: there are important "security" matters to be considered: = no-bid contracts to Halliburton lookalikes. Whaddayathink?!: this is a democracy? in a pig's eye....
The surge protectors of the Bush administration are overloading with the public with outright lies and propaganda spin. Sectarian violence is killing more people than ever. Our supposed "allies" in Anbar Province were slaughtering us just months ago (and have been given amnesty for those actions), and will start killing us again once our common enemy of al Qaeda is eliminated from that area. Basra was just handed over to Iranian-backed Shiite militias.
Also, in Kurdistan, it is now illegal to fly the Iraqi flag. AND, in NONE of the statistics we have been provided have the authorities released any numbers of the dead or injured among the independent contractors throughout the entire Iraq War. Their personal cost (both in blood and money) is a closely guarded secret, removing it from the calculus of the Iraqi War debate.

I saw the mortgage commercial playing in the background. The one that mentions magician or "illusionist". Fits very well, if it was on purpose, lol.

yay! the surge has worked. now you guys can get the heck out of iraq right?...... right?
r9nger0ver 4 years ago
Well, I think that's a misconception about the surge.
A successful surge implies a necessity to *maintain* troop levels in order to hold on to the successes.
A failed surge means that an increase in troop levels has not worked, and that they should be brought home.
So, a successful surge does not necessarily mean a quicker withdrawal of forces. Am I right now this one?
Blahcetera 4 years ago
you're exactly right. a successful surge means you have to stay their longer. congratulations.
