  • Beautiful song, and the actual video is so moody and elegant, Patti performing the song at a cabaret club. I hope someone finds it and uploads it.

  • Nostalgic memories.....love this song!!!

  • OMG!!! 2:54

  • Soul Power!

  • 自分の記憶が正しければ、この曲はJ-Waveのプロモーションソングだったでしょうか?どなたか教えてください。

Was this song J-Wave's promotion song in 1991? Does anyone know?

  • love this song

  • Great R&B! Thanks for posting.

  • Patti performed in High Point NC last weekend. Thanks for posting!

  • @acmevoiceover She did where in the world was I. Shoot wouldv'e love to been there. I live in Winston.

  • 5 people walked away.

  • The young girls can't fuck with that

  • She is '1 of' The Best at anytime. Do you homework. Listen to her 15 - 16 yr old recordings (cd 'Take Away The Pain Stain') & her albums, starting at CTI's 'End of A Rainbow' right through to 'Sound Advice' (2011). Patti just turned 61 Aug 10 2011. She's been making music for 58 of those yrs & recording for 57 of those, taking a break for school & life, stuff like that. Lol. How many artists have contributed THIS much? & still sound great? INTEGRITY. REAL!

  • She was on of the best during that time!

  • outstanding vocalist.....it's a shame that the times have changed and her voice isn't coveted the way it was back then. This whole song is so underrated in a world where it has become popular for grown women to attempt to sound like little brats. Long live Patti Austin, Stacy Lattisaw, Whitney Houston and (saved this for last) the female lead from The Jets. At 12 years old she sang like a grown woman. We love you Patti, you embody true music, true passion, true talent. And we miss that stuff

  • @MrChicago891 I am touched that you added Elizabeth Wolfgrahm (lead singer of the Jets) to your list. I was shocked to find out that she and her sister Moana were 12 & 14 years old, fronting that band, singing like adults! They were younger than me at the time! LOL I too miss true talant!

  • this is the ultimate compliment i could give to Patti Austin:

while at work, this song came on. i recognized it right away. but since it was too rowdy noisy (it was lunch break), i yelled for everyone (more like screamed), TO "SHUT THE FUCK UP SO I COULD LISTEN TO THE DAMN MUSIC!"

now that solved my Patti fix.

  • パティ・オースティン と 渡辺貞夫、ANY OTER FOOL 貞夫さん!いつでも、貴方のジャズはあったかい!

  • Is it true that Mr. Sadao Watanabe stopped giving live performance, after releasing this masterpiece of a song?!

  • does anyone out there have any live clips of her doing this one?

  • Patti Austin is a blessing to us all and her music sing girl

  • classic jazz track absolute brilliant brings back so many good memories of"89"

  • She is a great great taLent. under marketed so we can be bombarded by hip hoppers in mini skirts prancing on stage. I can't stand it anymore. Could you please load this song on mixpod?

  • She is a great great taLent. under marketed so we can be bombarded by hip hoppers in mini skirts prancing on stage. I can't stand it anymore.

  • Great song.

  • I love this song...two of my favorite international jazz artists..Thanks!

  • I saw her perform at Ram's Head in MD; man what a performance..so full of zest, comical satire and lots..oh lots of top class singing.......she's quite a lady and a performer

  • I've known this song for quite a long time now and am so glad to reminisce here!!! it's such a great song and, of course, the great vocals of patti!! has there ever been a live performance of this like "my dear life"? I think this song is so much better!!! must be one of the greates love songs ever!

  • This is a great song - introduced to me by Dario J Baqudano

  • What a great song and a truly awesome vocal. I've always though Patti Austin did not get her due as a singer. She's one of the best!

  • @justinlwerner sorry i mistakenly pressed the vote down button =(

  • i really love this song...it reminds of ......

  • Beauty! Makes you want to weep!!

  • i love this song i am going to try this at karaoke.

  • LOVE this song- wish there was some way to download it. . .

  • @alliebl Get the free plug in for your browser.. it's called KEEPTUBE. Then you can get the video and the tune.

  • this is a great song this song reminds of my ex husband everybody said i was a fool to be with him.

  • I love this song, I could see Vanessa Williams singing this too, a very similar style of singing.

  • Not enough saxophone in today's music.

  • My mom told me her love this song so much ((:

  • ahh i still love this song......

  • Luv this song, bring back memories

  • This is an all time favourite, it`s timeless.

  • I've been looking for this song for years! I didn't know Patti Austin was the vocalist. Her beautiful singing and Mr. Watanabe's soulful sax make this a great, (yet sorrowful) love song.

  • Luv this song.

  • Some of the best music and the best years of my life!

  • . I often talked about romance and true love when my daughters were growing up. Now that my oldest is in her twenties she thinks I am weak and needy compared to the men she has known who refuse to commit. I laugh because I know it takes passion, heart and strength to commit, profess love and realize the treasure we have when we find love. Kind of sad to think of all the great loves that will never be, as people keep playing games of the heart.

  • i like this song so much

  • any other fools ,,,,, will be

  • Great, great song! Patti Austin killed it!

  • Great song.

  • i remember this now, great song!!

  • always love this song

  • Yeah, this song was always haunting to me. I think it's so beautiful, and for no apparent reason, it wasn't played often. Thanks for putting this song up. I love it!!!!

  • Beautiful music. Can we ever go back to those days????? This song is just AMAZING artistry!!!

  • Haunting Melody - Patti has the most beautiful voice

  • what is the name of this LP.?

  • @CarolAnneFreeling1

i glad u like this song Nina is 1 my fav song

  • Nice song.I like it

  • Great song. Patti Austin never got the credit she deserved. She is an incredible singer. Thanks for posting this.

  • very nice vid =)

  • This song goes back to '89, which was a very happy time of my life!. I've always enjoyed the music of Patti and Sadao.

  • Funny, I always thought that Roberta Flack performed this beautiful song! Anyhow, I've loved this song for years.

  • Thanks i love this song 5/5

  • This song made me a fan of Sadao Watanabe ALSO...I remember living at home and my Mother letting me blast this and sing to the top of my lungs....and she just sang it with me. Memories...and well Patti.....THE BEST

  • i nevr should have let you go

  • Gorgeous song....a combination of contemporary light jazz and adult contemp. balladry......Patti's voice is just as much an instrument as whatever it is that Sadao plays......Patti's emotion comes through on this song. Does anyone know who wrote this? I'm thinking Diane Warren, but not sure, please help

  • This wonderful song was indeed written by Diane Warren and Robbie Buchanan.

  • I love this song

  • Thank u Patti for having a golden lung.

  • This song is timeless when it comes to love and regrets. How many of us were foolish enough to want to be right and not be in the relationship?

  • @mocha6418 you bet it's timeless...i think about this song alot and i agree...i think about things from time to time ... especially after i hear this song...

  • Patti Austin nailed what has to be the ultimate lamentation song. To call it beautiful and haunting is a gross understatement. Gives me chills every time I hear it.

  • Asbolutely agree with you, Patti should have won a Grammy for this performance. That little growl at the very end is the perfect cap. I think Dusty Springfield was one of the greatest singers of all time and she did a lovely version of "Any Other Fool" on her "Reputation" album but it doesn't touch Patti's.

  • This song made me a fan of Sadao Watanabe.

  • @jderrant you can say that again...i agree 200% on that

  • I haven't heard this song in years. It sure does bring back alot of memories....

  • Great song written be DeWarren and sung by the lovely Patti A.

  • This song brings back childhood memories. I really love it!!

  • this song reminds me of friends I haven't seen in ages

  • Patti should never have been that thin (based on the photo of her along with the one of Sadao) but thank God for putting me on earth during her career. "under-rated" and sadly under-recorded, except as a back up or incidental artist such as with her friend Quincy Jones. Suffice it, that many of us get to share a beautiful secret.

  • Is she diabetic or something?

I don't want her to lose her beautiful voice.

  • I really should have stayed. But thing happened so long ago that I really can't remember all the details.

  • I have this CD and I belt it out while driving. I dont dare open my windows!!! Love it!!!!!

  • Patti Austin's voice is one of the most underrated voices ever. She has range, power, and delivery. I love 4:00 - 4:11

  • Damn Straight! i thought i was the only person to hear that intricate sliding vocal! Patti is a true master! i was very blessed to meet this lady and she's as sweet as her voice! I will never forget that night!!!

  • This song caused me to get into an accident. I heard it on CD101 in New YOrk City. I loved it SO MUCH i just HAD to have it IMMEDIATELY. I rushed to the store IMMEDIATELY to find it and ended up in a minor accident. But it was worth it. Still one of the prettiest songs I've EVER heard.

  • that was meant to be a thumbs up...my mistake......I love this song too...and it is worth a accident...and the memories I have with this song are priceless

  • does any one remember the song she sang in DC? were all in this together.? I have googled and googled, It was a march on washington, for women I don't know, But, it is a powerful song

  • Hallo, Pianomanification. I guess the song you're looking for is "We're all in this together", a song from the 90s for the Aids crisis, after a phrase coined by Magic Johnson's coming out!

It can be found on her fantastic concert cd 'Patti Austin-Live' from 1992. Just listen to her standup bit on that album on "vocal affectations", and you'll even adore her more (if that's possible)! Love from Germany

  • Her Best song hands down!!!!! Amazing!!

  • I cannot find this song anywhere!! I have looked for YEARS. I can't find it on HER album OR his!! Help!! Thanks. :)_

  • did you try I-tunes?

  • try ebay; that's where I got my copy of Sadao's CD "Front Seat"

  • Check sadao watanabe's album, which is titled "Front Seat". I am also thinking to buy this album to get this song.

It's one of my all time favorite songs, too.

  • nice song, super! from the lyrics to the beat... been listening to this song over and over again....

  • nice song:) super!!!

  • i remember watching this video on BET as a teen and i was blown away. i'd listen to r&b AC stations just waiting to hear this tune. patti is amazing!

  • legendary

  • My favorite Patti Austin recording- truly moving- I remember seeing the video- Sadao is great too-

This song was written by Diane Warren- perhaps her best, too

    Thanks for posting this

  • this song is the definition of a song that gives you "the chills". i remember hearing this song when i was young (im 33 now), and it always stuck with me. funny i always though it was phobe snow who sung this song. just plain powerful.

  • Great song but such moving consequences if you listen to the lyric.

  • One of the best songs ever produced. They don't make songs like this one anymore.

  • Beautiful song. Lyrics well sustained by it's orchestration...

  • This song sets to music the catch phrase "the one that got away"... the pain and regret of a love that is forever lost...

  • This song brings back many fond memories to me of late 1989 and into 1990. My life was so happy then and I loved every part of it.

  • agree mine too then, flood of good memories came rushing forth

  • Brings back great memories of an ex back in early 1990! I always heard this on 106.7, great song!

  • Wow - beautiful

  • what a song :')

  • "Any other fool would never walk away... " I never should have let you go. I loved you enough to set you free... I hope it was worth it.

  • The beginning of this song is absolutely beautiful...Here comes the chills...Lovely, just lovely...

  • This wasn't a big hit for some reason, but it's a very moving song!!!

    c. from ct.

  • never get bored to this song...one of the best ever

  • my feelings exactly!

  • I paid a grip for the Sadao Watanabe CD "Vocal Collection" - has this tune and other great tunes including Randy Crawford, Brenda Russell, Roberta Flack, to name a few. I hear this tune and I'm reminded of dope late 80's to early 90's r&b cuts by Lalah, Stacy Lattisaw (Every Drip Drop), Sheena Easton (Fire And Rain), Milira, just to name a few ......

  • this tune is written by robbie buchanan and diane warren!

  • There's very few good no excellent songs written like this any more! Great time for music.

  • Very nice song. This music deserves more attention i think, you won't find many good songs today.

  • OH! Tell me about it. With some notable exceptions, today's music you could just get a top-loader sanitation truck and dump it in there and take it to the dump.

  • This was written by Diane Warren, and I think it is definetly one of her best songs out of her whole catalouge.

  • keep these hits coming

  • I love this song! This song always reminded me of a guy I liked in High School.. :)

  • I really love this song, it brings back childhood memories. I could listen to it umpteen times and never get tired of it!

  • dedicated to DARIO JOSE BAQUEDANO...

  • that was a time when ladies had the gift of god.

  • Well, I know *Patti Austin* has the gift of God in a world of Brittany Spears and Christina Fagulieras :)

  • A true Patti Austin CLASSIC!!!!

  • Perfection simply perfection....Patti Austin

  • I never whose song this was, I used to listen to it and soft rock stations over and over! It is such a moving song, it makes you miss people who meant so much to you.

  • 20 years, I miss Soo Kim.

  • If you like this song with patti and sadeo listen to "only in my mind" from the "In the front seat" cd its another great ballad.

  • It's Sadao Watanabe from the "Front Seat" CD but it's out of print.

  • There IS a video clip for this out there somewhere...great Diane Warren song.

  • It's been almost 30 years - I miss him still.

  • I couldn't see parasites right before my eyes

'til I felt you walkin' my scalp

I didn't know that 'Head & Shoulder' couldn't kill hair lice

But now I know, I know that I should've tried any other tool

  • Weird Al, is that you?

  • I don't think we should put anyone else before our own happiness. We should try to love but we need the strength to walk away.

  • This song reflects to what i've done 2 someone i love. hix2x.

  • She looks so gorgeous now that she has lost weight....bless her. She was always pretty anyway; I am just glad she did it for health reasons.

  • But some of us loved her even then and thought she was beautiful and gorgeous and sexy. Your body is a shell. What are you like on the inside?

  • very pretty song..i love the music/melody.

  • This song is sad about things lost and that cannot be retrieved.About times gone, that cannot be recaptured. This is the story of life you never know how good what you have until you lose it.

  • Hi there. Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this video. I love this song. One of my favorites.

  • Alguém tem alguma coisa das músicas "california shower" e "gnoma party" do grande Sadao Watanabe??

  • Jeff Porcaro on drums!

  • Jeff Porcaro on drums!

  • Chiffon56, God knows. The sacrifices we make, when it is for the happiness and the betterment of another...such sacrifices are never ignored by Him who made the ultimate sacrifice for all. The thing about it is, He never said it wouldn't hurt.

  • I never should have let him go...twenty-six-years ago. I should have been selfish. I'd better get BIG points for THAT one, God!!
