The Higurashi VN is coming out in english late next month. I just finished episode four of the Umineko VN, but I still don't like it as much as Higurashi. I'm not saying that it sucks, but I'm really starting to get sick of this "LOL I TROLL YOU" bullshit that everyone is pulling. And apparently it just gets worse in Episode 5. But I am glad that Erika just showed up to pretty much prove that the whole ANTI-MYSTERY VS ANTI-FANTASY thing is complete bullshit.
I'm excited about the anime. I think the people who are doing the writing have learned some serious lessons from the Higurashi mishaps, partially because Kai was so much better written than the first season. The biggest one I'm hoping they'll avoid - trying to cram too much into too little time.
I have to say that whether the anime is representative fully of the game, or not, won't worry me in the slightest. Deens higurashi was far from perfect, but at the same time enjoyable in its own way if you weren't too fussy (or hadn't played the VN). Honestly, more umineko media in itself is just awesome. Even the fanmade videos are enjoyable to some extent. ^^
Also, the fact that they're going to use a large amount of the games music should improve things a bit.
Bah... in some captures of the anime released days ago Battler seems like always, not skinny, Beato is ok, and George and Shannon being chubby NEVER was stated in the novel.
I LOVE IT. My life is complete. And I really think that this anime will not suck. =D I mean, it won't be as good as the game, but....this anime will be epic. And this is proof of it.
sounds awesome! and the anime is NOT going to suck. As a Visual Novel fan, and while I do NOT expect the adapation to be half as good, this is a good story with good substance, so there's no way the anime will be - as you put it - sucky (even if they follow the plot losely). Disappointing, perhaps; weaker, probably. But I'll still enjoy it. :D

Well, I was actually talking about the Umineko No Naku Koro Ni song by Akiko.
But it would be awesome if it will surpass Higurashi, since I already loved that adaption. Although Kai had it's dull moments.

VN stands for Visual Novel, which is what where the anime for both Higurashi and Umineko came from.
The manga is decent, but it loses a lot of things that the Visual Novel had.
