I fixed my black screen that i got from a bad torrent file, its a quick fix after i spent all day looking, i can't fit the method to fixing it in this comment box but if u send me a message on twitter @4JohnMichael I'll send u the link for the fix, the file makes a bootable cd but it isn't windows pe
I have the same problem, I went to cinema and watched Devil, when i came back i got this black screen lol, my mouse and ctrl+alt+del works , but i have black screen on both nomral and safe mode.
i have windows 7 ultimate x64 and i have a similar problem, but i can only see the cursor and nothing else at all and i can move the cursor but after a couple minutes the computer restarts. Pressing ctrl+alt+delete does nothing and pressing ctrl+shift+escape does nothing either. the keyboard works because i can turn NumLock on and off. PLEASE HELP!
my guide is 1.press ctrl + alt + del at same time. 2. select start task manager. 3. then press new task write there explorer.exe. 4. go to internet and download some kind antivirus and scan + delete that virus. There you go:) I hope this gonna work
Oh you can't? You couldn't make a virtual machine, replicate the error, and record it? Mmm, stupid me. I thought you could. I'm such an ignorant moron!
Well, they are entirely different OS's so naturally OSX won't have problems any Windows PCs have. They will, however, have their own share of problems (and anyone who says otherwise is lying).
I'm pretty sure my seagate 1.5tb drive died while running and caused a BSOD, which after pulling the drive out and some startup repair attempts lead to this black login screen every time I restarted the computer. I ended up restoring my pc to a few days before and it's been working since (I haven't put the 1.5tb HD back in though).

Okay here's the solution :
The imageres.dll was missing on your system, that's the cause of the problem!
Download the .dll file which is missing to your system, or use Boot C: folder to recover it on System32 folder.
