THIS IS A DOPE TRACK BUT CAN'T BELIEVE THE DUDES HAT WAS CENCORED IN THE BEGINNING, I'VE TRYING TO FIND SAME ONE SINCE FIRST SEEING THIS VIDEO WHEN IT CAME OUT. R.I.P BIG L.
All I think of is GURU, Greg Giraldo, Patrice ONEAL, Dozens thousands millions. We ALL know this played out story A Life CUT SHORT, a Damn shame, we all are born to play the odds but we must march on as a whole and help one another out to survive and tell the story!
I remember listening to his whole album on my cd player, while I was ridin' the bus to school through K-Town(Chicago). That's real hip-hop...it puts you in a state of mind and brings back memories too.
Can't stop thinking about the lyfe of my "once neighbour" simon - it ended already after 6 years, when i was seven & later in school, they told me everything is good. I thought just "yea first get known to my environment"
if u wanna know the higher art of rhyming, o.c.'s one of the best...this guy's so dope and so fucking intelligent it's ridiculous to even compare a regular artist to him
Back in the 90's apart from listening to real hip hop we could see really good videos as well, like this one. Stick to the classics, new shit like kanye west, lil wayne and the other fools can go to hell.
@qerme O.C. is still releasing shit it's not all Kanye West that's out. Only thing is that the good artists aren't as good any more. I think a lot of it is how it's all recorded digitally now. All of this was analog
@dubified89 You have that correct...They could make hiphop sound decent with DIGITAL except they rather tweek everythang Analog sound is HIP-hop...Just remember Hip-Hop is something you live & Rapping is something you do mUCH luv
Peep. IN 1997 i was like the OC #1 fan in my High School-August Martin. It was the release of Jewlz summer... I had football practice 2days-HOT AUGUST Summer... I stayed up late to write OC a letter. i wrote OC like a 3 page letter. Next day..I cut the start of the 2nd session of practice to ride my bicycle to Jamaica Ave to Give O my letter and to get my copy of Jewelz Signed. O never wrote me back! none the less when i got to practice late, i had to do a circuit- BY MYSELF. I love me some OC!
@strictlyriddim yeah its true its suks we missed out the greatest time in the 90's wen pac big odb and big l were still alive wen jay-z was jay and wen mobb deep didnt join g-unit im 14 but got love for my old skoo hip hop even if nun of my frends like it or anyone else who dont noe about it i still try to show people these old meaning ful songs
I was rollin in my ride with my homies bumping some O.C, and diamond D and no one was interested in the songs that were playing... thats jus fucked up.. whats happened to these people man.
Aint no disrespect to the wiz , Big Sean and Curren$y fans out there but this is real hip-hop.
I can't listen to music from the 90s, it brings back many good and bad memories from my childhood, shit gets so emotional. You look back and think damn, that shit was 15-20 years ago but it doesn't seem that long ago; time flies by...
I'm 13 and I grew up listening to LIL WAYNE, SOULJA BOY, LLOYD BANKS ETC. and now I'm like WTF, this also exists, wish they told me that before, awesome. but why are all the good rappers murdered? luckily we still have eminem..
I'm 24 years old and I remember Living in Queens in da 90's with my yellow timberland's and baggy black jeans and a purple X-large t-shirt holding my cd player with my left hand, lip singing to Real Hip/hop...Who's with me...Give me that thumbs up!!
Yo! If u're down with that ILL HIP HOP and/or that GANJAH, then u need 2 peep the ORIGINAL vids on my channel, like "Pass The Fluffy", "Let Me Be Free", & "Roll It Up"! They will have you LUNCHIN', especially if u're BLAZED UP!!!!
This song gets better and better each time I hear it. And how come O.C isn't mentioned in the most overlooked MC's of all time? I think he's up there with Black Thought, Redman, Pharaoh Monche, and etc. Time's Up is pure slaughter lol and Jewelz is a classic
@gerryg1982 thanks for mentioning that book! I've got a buddy who is trying to spit but isn't really too exposed to too much of these classy hip hop tunes. considering it would only be like 20 bucks with s/h to get it i've really got to consider. I'm sure i'd enjoy the read too.
@gerryg1982 gr8 song this and far from yours, remember him on the dirtbike and shit in dat vid. these were when hip hop had significance. not just bringing money, it was for the love of rap.
No hip hop from anywhere past or present has the longevity or quality as that of classic NY Hip Hop. Gets proven time and time again. Born in 1986, but still product of the 90s like most real hip hop heads. Brings back good memories.
Born in 77 and loving the 80s and adore the Hip Hop 90s. Big love for this masterpiece. For the real Hip Hop heads it will EVER be the best Hip Hop time =)
Man, when I hear this and "Time's Up", it makes me glad that I grew up in the 90s. We saw Jordan play, Mike Tyson bite off Evander Holyfield's ear, and had great hip-hop like this. I almost feel bad for kids growing up now for missing out on such a memorable era, but hey...I see comments from teens on here so obviously they still care about quality music and are actually taking time to check out some hip-hop they missed out on. That restores hope for me. Thanks O.C. for all of the great music.
@strictlyriddim Well, there are the punk-ass fools that listen to Lil Wayne and Drake, but me, I listen to O.C., Big L, 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., and all that good shit.
@strictlyriddim nice way to put it man! i agree with you! it's sad how this hip-pop shit is out there. but of faggots talking gibberish making rap and bullshit.
@strictlyriddim , LOL, I'm with you on that man, I''m glad i grew up in the 90s as well great era good hip hop & R&B, like you said Jordan, the whole Tyson & Holyfield situation, pacino & de niro were still putting it down, had sugar hill & new jack city, sega super nes remember mortal kombat & street fighter first coming out? space jam? tv was still good to, all that , kenan & kel, good burger, steve harvey show, martin, wayne bros, living color! man great era!
His rhymes are so real , he doesn't try to play that I'm the hardest cat in the hood role but the pure rawness of his voice the graphic detail he puts into his narratives and flo is SPOT ON GENIUS , One of the best hip hop tracks ever massive thumbs up
damn i fuckin dig this right here....what a shame what happened to the scene today....invisible tears run down our faces everyday we turn on the radio...
This is coming from da heart. O.C has brought ALOT of lyricism in his lyrics and yet, not talked about alot. That is just wrong. I mean, I know things change, as for hip/hop and rap, but come on, this joint is Fire!!! this should have 1,000,000 hits and this album should've been Platinum!!
its funny how everyone on youtube associates mainsteam with lil wayne there is other piece of chit artist out there that suck give them there due too.
Great Song!!!! What a wonderful feeling it gives...

That second verse is some of the realest ever written... Classic joint, O.C. is incredibly underrated, he's up there with Nas and AZ imo.
