  • Has any of the Mien veterans received any medal from the U.S.?

  • Tonywatt Lefing means Culture or Way of life. Great Video!!! I think you I might know you.!!!

  • Who make the phonetics, fonts for mien language? I read it but I don't understand.

  • What is the meaning of lefing?

  • Oh ! Sorry. The same language but not same mien in china.

  • And Y U don't speak mien language like my home town, Phayao Thailand???

  • 5:10 thats my great grandpa <3

  • thanks for posting this!

  • I DONT THINK MIEN PARENTS TEACHES OR TELL OUR MIEN HIUSTROY ENOUGH SO OUR NEW GENERATIONS WOULD KNOW OR BE EVEN MORE PROUD TO MIEN

  • i think mien & hmong r alike bc i heard that both ethnic groups migrated from china together long ago & been living close by eachother in Laos, etc. Both face the same problems like prosecution etc. Large family were to help out in family farms, nowadays, they dont have as many kids anymore. From what I know & was told is that "yao" & "miao" was an insult, hmong started to call themselves "hmong" meaning "free people" .The reason for mien lastname came from chinese trying to make them chinese.

  • @mineomine123 -and like mien don't have 6-12 kids. my husband's family has hella kids and all his cousins too, not just hmong, so get your damn facts straight. hmong just do better b/c we believe/support in eachother and our education! look at our new years and concerts, ya'll can't compare!!!

  • omg my dad knows some of these people!

  • i think it be nice if there was an explanation from where our last names come from.

  • they look just like hmong people,,,the culture and story are smilar,

  • wait a minute, "Yao" means barbarian and so doees "Miao". How many words does the Chinese have regarding barbarianism? So many synonyms it seems like... In mandarin, "Mon" means barbarian...

  • why are the chinese ppl so mean

  • wow just like the hmong people and these other tribes

  • oh my god i cried so good to know about our history

  • totally made me cry. ha

  • Thanks for capturing a little bit of our history and culture from the past with our present generation. I agree with you that our people are at risk of losing our heritage due to the lack of documentation of our past. This is so critical..and more must be done to capture our experiences and roots for future generations. I am actually based in Thailand right now..hoping to do more research on our people and our history here. Keep up the good work!

  • didnt really know our history like this to sad

  • Very touching makes me happy to say that I am Mien. Thank you for this lovely video. (:

  • Thanks for making this video. The Mien people in America are loosing sight of where we came from.

  • @thefriskerman

To be honest, I didn't even know where the Mien originated, but it's clear now through careful study that they came from China. I have a girlfriend who is Mien and thank her for opening my eyes including with the help of this video.

  • This is why I pray so hard and thank God for what I have although people will look at me and say I have nothing No car No money in the bank no record deal but when it all boils down who cares about those worldly things I have so much to be thankful for thier are people that whould give thier life jsut for the promise that thier family could have what I have so thats why I'm thankful for what I have even thow it might not be nothing to someone eles..I THANK YOU GOD.. bless the less fourtanant..

  • u fail with the music lol

  • its so people who are not mien can understand dip shit

  • u dumb shit head....who the hell knows how to read or understand that? it dont even make sense or is it even a real word...those are self written pronounced words, no one read your mind the same way.....u shit mienh dumb fool, dont even know how to write your real native language script.....call yourself dip shit.

  • hella dumb. if you was really mien and since u know how to type english then you should know how to read what the fuck they writing in MIEN! It aint that hard. you already know mien words and you know how to pronounce english syllables, just read da fuckin letters. And why you hatin on the MIEN getting their own writing? I don't see you doin shit.

  • The Mien & Hmong people live the same back before the Vietnam War & even after the war.Chinese Gov' labeled the Mien as "Yao's" & the Hmong as "Miao",both words meaning barbarian's.Both of the race were originally had their own land by China, but were taken from China. That's the only reason why Mien & Hmong are all spread out.The Chinese Gov' wanted to erase the Mien & Hmong people's history. But yet both race are still standing to this day.Bless our Mien & Hmong people. We are not different.

  • well first of all how are mien and hmong not different?

  • i cry every time i watch this video. it makes me think about the suffering my parents and family went through and how far we've come today

  • mien in black... MIEN PRIDE

  • Alright credit the sing to Oakland Doutc Biatc.

  • Lets hope that us mien people don't die out in the next generation in which i see happening in America Mien Pride

  • I will do my best not to let that happen..

  • Me too! let's doour best to keep this Mien Race going!!!! but i do undertand and see what you meant though t-29... nice video Jai!!! hahaha .53 is your brother!!!

  • Such a touching and informative video. Wonderfully made!

  • Hmongs and miens are so similar.

  • nuh uh...hmong people be crying their asses out saying that they are not known but when it comes down to us...you wouldnt find us anywhere

  • Crying our asses off? We minorities should stick together so don't be saying we're crying our asses off. Your culture and ours have been through a lot, but the Hmong/Miao minority does have a larger presence

  • hmong people make a bigass deal about it...i mean you'll find the question "do you guys know what hmong is? well you should!" anywhere...school...banners..everything pretty much...and right now...hmong people are no longer called "minorities" theres about 4 states full of pretty much hmong people...theres a trillion times more hmong people then mien people

  • You have a good point, but when you want your people to be known it has to be voice somehow. I do agree there are more Hmong people than Mien out there. You and I, we are still minorities, I don't think there's any Hmong people in Ohio.

I'm from Fresno, California, where are you from?

  • im from sac, california why...i remeber back then when we used to have mien club meetings in school and we always used to talk about how we are not known anywhere...and it was the same for the hmong people ...but nows it different...it just amazes me how fast it was for hmongs to spread out...theres hmong movies stars...well not movie starts but they've been in american movies ...lol i even heard there was hmong porn but iono

  • @csidaznigga hmong porn can we see

  • @mineomine123 I really hope you aren't mien or hmong !! since you would say something stupid like you freakin idiot....

  • @mr559 yes the hmong minority has a larger presence cause each hmong family have about 6 to 12 kids, so it infest the us really quickly

  • why do u speak so negatively about Hmong people?

Jealous?...I think so. But w/e get over yourself. The only one crying their asses off is YOU wining bout how less of YOU there are here in the United States then there is of US. We have the same history, same experience, SAME TRUTH of what has been. Move on and make better of yourself for those who didn't make it.

  • im not speaking negatively im just telling the truth that hmong people have rised faster than mien people and i'm just wondering why...back when iwas younger there wasn't hmong movie stars and etc...and what do you mean by who didnt make it? most mien people arent in america bc of their own choice..only some of us came b/c it was hard in thailand...we have different histories ...your hmong and i'm mien

  • my last name is saetern

  • is anybody last name saeturn? Because mine is

  • im mienh and everytime i watch this video i get sad:[all the things they went thru and now in america they are finaly free but most mienh grandparents do not speak of there past i wonder why?

  • wow..thanks for the videos. even with my grandfather in the vietnam war, he's never one spoken to us about it, fearing that memories will erupt. i understand how you feel and i pray and hope only for the miens to find peace. with still the persecutions of the hmong in laos, we need to let the world know, that us minorities were the ones, if weren't for us, would've died more than expected. thanks for your video. i hope to see more of these in the near future.

  • omg this was very sad... i enjoy watching the mien culture and its past. Thank you! Mien ROCKS and keep it alive!

  • Just one more proof of how much we take for granted here in the USA, whereas others have to struggle just to survive, survive enough so as not to completely lose their history if not properly recorded. The survival of the MIEN people is so very poignant. This is a beautifully done video!

Thanks for trying to open our eyes to the hardships endured by the MIEN people. May you be able to trace and save enough of your History to pass on to the coming generations.

  • The grandmother said, "We are old and tired. We've had our share of worries and sorrows. There are no more tears to shed." And the grandson said, "But I fear all these moments will be lost - like the tear when one wipes it away - or like the rain when the sun dries it up." May the world cry your tears for you, Mien, so that they will never dry up. I pray that the world will be sad together with you -and by God's grace turn the sad into happy. Please, America, spread the word! Timmo, USA

  • Thank You!!!
