  • The premier apologist of Wall Street.

Maybe he should put some of his million$ towards a hair transplant operation.

    Utterly annoying, I say.

  • She's "lucky" because her mortgage is paid off. That's the comment that was being made.

  • hahahahha when it said "and economists say it will [turnaround] but not..." i thought they were gonna continue "in Mildred's lifetime" thats messed up. sorry mildred. ha.

  • Oh no! She's working - and not getting a gubbermint handout!! THis is terrible!!! I'm sure all of you bleeding heart obamabots are mailing checks to her as we speak, RIGHT??

  • Typical piece of Republican shit - thinks it's great that an 84-year old still has to work.

  • Typical liberal workslacker - thinks someone irresponsible enough to have no retirement should be given a handout. You'll be mailing her a check, RIGHT??

  • You're all heart, buddy...no matter what they say.

  • Yeah buddy! It sure is heartless to expect people to save money for their retirement. What a horrible thought. Again ,with your big heart - how much did you send her, buddy??

  • Yeah, I love how these multi millionaire media types cheer on an 84 year old lady who has managed to avoid living in the street in spite of the best efforts of corporate America. If she is really lucky maybe she can continue to struggle waiting on tables for the rest of her life unless she gets sick in which case the health care "system" will have to clean her out.

  • CNN=TOOL

  • She'd be "Uniquely American" if she had 2 more Jobs according to that fake Christian Scumbag George "Buttfucker" Bush

  • Oh god, how nauseating.

  • jesus christ, no one should have to work at her age. Fucking look at her

  • "She has less to worry about because her mortgage is paid off"

Yes, because clearly someone who's still working at 84 is living a "worry-free" lifestyle.

Anyone else wonder how many week's Mildred would have to work just to make the daily salaries of these two "reporters"?

  • This is what 30 years "Deregulation" does. The financial disaster was not an accident. It is Class Warfare. It's time the Common Folk to start fighting back.

    Peace.

  • This looked like a video from "The Onion"!

"Mildred is soooo lucky. No worries for Mildred!"

  • Thanx heathr456 for putting that up but it's a very misleading label for that video

  • So let me get this straight, these 2 pinheads think that a 84 year old that HAS to work, doesn't have a monkey on her back like others do?

She's 84 and HAS to work, I'd say that's a pretty big effin' monkey!! Jeebus, when do/can we pick up the pitchforks and torches?

  • This woman is 84 years old. She shouldn't have to work. Notice how she never said that she WANTED to do this.

Yeah, Thelma, you have a great way of taking these stories and making us dumb people understand why we should all aspire to be as lucky as Mildred. Then, we too can wait tables at 84.

  • WESSSSYDE!

    ...

    I live in LA.

  • So the poors are happier? Is that the message? Why then Paulson got his 600 millions in bonus when at the head of Goldman Sachs? To stay unhappy?

  • Journalism is dead in America , has been dead for a while...

  • and that's exactly why our country is in such a mess...people can not get easy access to the truth.

  • anyone expecting or waiting for a true journalistic piece from CNN will be waiting a long time....What a joke they have become.

  • I agree with you 100%.

  • I see stories like this one-- with its Hallmark Moment veneer-- as an attempt by the establishment to shift blame for its inexcusable incompetence and breach of public trust onto the shoulders of its victims. I know some will chafe at the use of the word "victim," but that is what the common work-a-day, earn-a-dollar taxpayer has become. We are the unwitting victims of a massive fraud perpetrated by those we were made to believe were protecting us, via the rule of law, from such fraud.

  • Maybe senior citizens should be exempted from property taxes on their primary residence, so that they don't have to work at age 84.

  • It's a nice idea, until you consider the numerous opportunities for fraud that could create. People would be using the elderly almost as tax shelters.

You could still levy the tax, but create some sort of simple exemption application process... reapply every three years... ensure that they truly can't pay.

(with some refinement this idea might have legs)

  • There would need to be enforcement to make sure that the house in question really was their primary residence (and not a mansion where they don't live but got bribed by the owner to say they did).

But the enforcement costs would be worth it.

  • Why? They already get social security. How about everyone pay their fair share...

  • They should be able to live off their Social Security without working.

But they can't because of the cost of their property taxes.

  • WHAT THE FUCK! Are they seriously trying to say a 84 year old woman on her feet day in and day out serving the public food is lucky? I thought I have seen and heard it all, unable to be shocked. But these two have taken my breath away. LUCKY?

  • Couldn't agree with you more!
