@ghough12 - isnt it called a 'Manji' when its reversed like that and has no Nazi significance whatso ever (obviously). I had forgotten about them for 25 years +
@M4OON The manji is a japanese symbol however I'm not sure how this relates to the ornamental border on St Wifreds. I must do some more research! Thanks for your comments.
I have owned a shop in Preston for over 20 years, and remember the controversy when the modern sculpture of martyrs was erected outside the old public hall on Lune Street. I think you have chosen some superb angles to view this sculpture from, really bring out the meance in the soldiers and the look of fear in the figures of the martyrs. I get fed up of friend and colleagues complaining about the drab architecture of Preston, when there are some real gems.
wonderful as always G! ... so what do you think ... should I get the FZ100 to go along with my Z7? ... it does appear to have DOUBLE the zoom ... do you love it?
Awesome story of architecture. You've got a uniform, soft light, ideal for architecture. The red and lower houses remind me of the city of Amsterdam. Very good job of small TZ10, one of the best pocket-sized bed time. I just bought the samsung ex1, ideal for landscape and architecture. If you want to check my gallery on Flickr.
Hi, thanks for this comment and I agree it's a very humbling experience when you look at the amount of detail which went not only into the fabric of the building but the decoration as well. Sadly today the cost would probably be prohibitive on such types of building and so we get very uninteresting sculptures and we are made to believe they are fantastic - like the Imperial war Museum - North - pretty ugly in comparison (IMHO) Thanks for watching.
I went inside St Joesph's Orphanage after is closed as a stint as an "Urban Explorer", and I must say, St Jo's and some other great places I visited, it gave me a great respect for some of the craftsmanship that used to be put into the older buildings.
You've made my home town look very beautiful and interesting - it makes me look at it in a slightly different light now - Thanks for that :)
Oh yeah the clarity & composure is crystal clear & very clever - well done
