I think I will stick with a $1800 Dell laptop (including software) with 2gig video card and intel i7 with 2.9 ghtz over clocked CPU. 15 inch 1080p display. Don't think you can beat that price wise. although I will admit apple is a beautiful computer as well.
that ATI card is hardly a powerhouse, i just bought a 5770 1gig ddr5 for my pc for 200 bucks and it cant run everything ultra and its more than double the card!

they should be getting them out hopfully in the next 8 weeks latest i think. i would defo wait. i can' wait to switch from PC to mac!!! wish they would hurry up!!!!!

Hey there, I plan on buying one of these just for general use like internet use, watching videos, music for my Zune, and Lightroom for editing my photos. Will this computer do all that just fine, especially for mid/heavy internet use. I had PC's all my life that were always bought used and I'm tired of having slow pieces of crap, I want this beast for its speed and is gorgeous display.
@BigCatsWildlife I've used top spec PC's for years producing music. I wanted to switch to Logic Pro so I bought 27" Imac with i7 and 16 GB RAM. It's fantastic. I've not had an error message yet. It's fast, stable and flawless.
They are expensive though. For internet and photo editing use you don't need one. I have an HP Elite that has 8GB RAM 2 x 1TB HDD's i7 CPU running windows 7. That cost only a third of the price and it would satisfy your needs effortlessly.

Mouse/keyboard can be bought together for about $30. Mic and camera can be bought together for $30. Better Windows PC can be bought for $700, if one knows that Best Buy and Circuit City are not the place to go.
Windows can be upgraded many times, versus buying a new Mac whenever the old one stops working well.
Windows is supported more. Windows is open source. Windows doesn't get many viruses, unless the user is ten.
Macs are for children, typically, and those who love to spend spend!

@xxdanger06xx No it cannot, if your looking for a good display thats cheaper than the imac get the led cinema display from apple, same resolution, has an isight camera, 3 external power usb's etc.. very nice.
@xxdanger06xx For the MacBook Pro- yes you can. You just need a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable. Simple. The only trouble you would have is if you wanted to put HDMI (From xbox etc) into it, but even that is possible using a (pricey) adaptor.
27” iMac i7. I like it a lot for speed. Two things I DO NOT like is that 1. the Power button is on the back. Very difficult for disabled people. 2. Not enough inputs (FireWire ports and USB ports).

Just noticed the ventilation location. Actually when you think about, hot air rises and cold air sinks(thanks elementary science class). So the ventilation exhaust is scientifically correct. I wonder if Apple did that on purpose.

The screen heats that means the lcd is a dinosaur as far as technological advance is concerned. If you go to best buy and touch some of the newer lcds they don't even get warm. The screen had a flicker defect. Burn a cd and the glitch starts the next morning. Shame on apple.
@roboptions how old is your iMac? Because Apple ditched LCD screens years ago. Now they use LED screens with their updated "green policy". Also I don't own an iMac ,but one of my friends has a 27" and he has never had any issues with it. Being a Mac user since I was 5, I've never had issues with any of Apples machines and I kinda find it a little harsh to call their stuff "crap" based on my personal experiences,but not everyone has to like Apples stuff.

i think you can plug an external bluray drive tho and use windows to play it using a bluray software player.
dont think vlc can play bluray directly.

I have had a quad core machine since 2007, and there are a lot of programs that take advantage of the multiple cores - Adobe CS3 and later for instance.

Great Review. You talked abut the Screen maybe heating up - a concern for many people. And you talked about the issue of Quad core being ahead of the curve. I plan to get Pro tools so I will see if the Quad core is the adequate processor for producing music. Thanks for a good review.

It was in orchard apple store. And i'm positive it was previously owned because the battery was in the mouse so that was the give away. That's why I was disgusted with the store after that. I just don't like this kind of irresponsible bull shit of customers. I dish out 2300 and get disrespect like that. It's outrages. If there is a manufacturing defect just fix it and thats that. Love apple but lately its glitch after glitch. I currently got a lap top called Macbook Pro and some times in the morning when I wake it up I have little green dots dancing on the screen. I know its kind of nostalgic to wake up to something magical like that but dam i am 39 im not a kid anymore so I don't fall for shit like that anymore. It anoys the fuck out of me. And the more anoying part is talking to an asshole i mean genius at the store that I have to prove it to. It only does on ocasion!

Just noticed the ventilation location. Actually when you think about, hot air rises and cold air sinks(thanks elementary science class). So the ventilation exhaust is scientifically correct. I wonder if Apple did that on purpose.

@SpearWieldingOctopus The sad part is apple charges premium price and churns out crap lately. The 27" is plagued with defects. I owned one for a week. The panel was to warm for the touch. The screen heats that means the lcd is a dinosaur as far as technological advance is concerned. If you go to best buy and touch some of the newer lcds they don't even get warm. The screen had a flicker defect. Burn a cd and the glitch starts the next morning. Shame on apple.

@roboptions how old is your iMac? Because Apple ditched LCD screens years ago. Now they use LED screens with their updated "green policy". Also I don't own an iMac ,but one of my friends has a 27" and he has never had any issues with it. Being a Mac user since I was 5, I've never had issues with any of Apples machines and I kinda find it a little harsh to call their stuff "crap" based on my personal experiences,but not everyone has to like Apples stuff.

@SpearWieldingOctopus Don't get me wrong it was like a god sitting on my table till i actually started seeing it trow thunder bolts in screen lightning glitch and the bottom of the screen would start this annoying jump to the side. And random pixilations. This was after the supposed firmware update that was done before it was sold to me. What pisses me off the most is that the asshole at the store sold it to me after it was returned. How I know the mouse had a chip in it like it was dropped.

also to note an i7 920 is not twice as fast as an i5 750 you fuck. the only difference between the two is multithreading and the cpu socket that they use, which in the i7's case is that it is socket 1366 and therefore can use tri channeled RAM. if you dont know shit about computer hardware (which you dont) then dont spread bullshit to the already retarded mac community

@TitusRTeh1337Bassist your right u can. i just built my first desktop for 1200 dollars with a much higher graphic card and ram but what makes a mac worth it is that its really beautiful, high resolution even though the graphic card isn't that great, you dont have to build it and if theres something wrong with it u can send it back. my built PC has some bad parts and i have to search through each PC part and go through RMAs for each piece... but your right.

@nawab256 A PC can be made beautiful and in your own image with full modding.Most low end modern videocards can run very high resolutions in monitors, but not high resolutions in games.One thing i like about repairing computers is that you can monitor its progress and probably finish it faster than sending it to a mechanic. Im not starting another flamewar, im just setting things straight...mac's are not that bad..PS most of the time, (constructing pc's is a hobby)
