Nuclear power addresses the immediate problem of CO2 emissions, but ignores the long term environmental problems caused by radioactive waste, which is far more radioactive than the uranium that goes into the process. thumbs down on this idea.

America already has several institutions which dispose of the fuel. You see, the fuel doesn't take up a lot of space, its more a matter of security and fear.
The most notable accident in America was the Three Mile Island incident in 1979 - which had no fatalities, and negligible environmental damage.
Even if you do take Chernobyl into consideration, the lives lost per terawatt produced is *far* lower than oil, coal, gas and even water.
Counterintuitive, I know.

CO2 is very much a green house gas as many other gases in atmosphere. Water vapor and many other gases trap and shield radiation exposure. Climate religion is not graded science yet. Equilibrium of the atmosphere takes time returning to its normal condition. Acid rain is caused by emissions of compounds of ammonium, carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur reacting with the water in the atmosphere to produce acids. Sun vaporized them back into the atmosphere many times until plants / organism recycle them.

It depends. We breath in O2 and release CO2 as well. The normal range is quite wide and the abnormal ranges are narrower. We are part of the photosynthesis for this planet. Plants need CO2 and we need plants to get back O2 for breathing. please check "composition of dry atmosphere, by volume." on w i k i p e d i a. @emenHX this is true but with sun you have to have no clouds in the sky, with wind you have to have wind constently, if the river runs dry you loose hydro (dont know anything about geothermal and tidelwave) but nuclear reactors can produce upwards of 1200 MWe/hr and that is 24hr day per reactor for about 10.5-11 months a year because of outages but the other sources of energy will not produce as much energy an hour

People need to share this technology with developing countries, please don't make it another exclusive tool for multinational corporations controlling our economy. Make sure it is shared amount nations so people own it and monitor it instead of enslaved by it. Fuel grade material resources for nuclear material is not unlimited, don't let them drive people into wars for it. Our ultimate energy source is always the Sun. We just lack alternative infrastructures for facilities to re-engineer it.

Yeah - just what we need, the whole world using it so the whole planet can be one big toxic cesspool. What if they had one of these reactors set up in Haiti? I don't think I need to tell you. Why would anyone want to use this crap when there's so many forms of renewable energy out there? And nuclear can barely break even. It's not worth it. Leaving this nightmare to our children is worse than Washington's debt.

He closes Yucca Mountain or moves to shut it down and then offers loans for the development of nuclear energy with no place to put the waste! So here you go, the prince of fools says, " We can go ahead and do nuclear power, yeah for me!" But what he really said is, go ahead, I'll make it impossible for you to actually do it with taxes, etc.
