  • I remember when this video only had like 80,000 views about a year ago!!.Thank you Ed Sheeran!

  • beautiful song :) love the sound of guitar

  • Amazing song by an exceptional singer/songwriter. If Ed Sheeran brought you here, make sure to listen to more of Foy's music, and you'll love it!

  • O my god, this is song is fantastic!

  • Met Foy on a cruise that he was preforming on. I even got to take care of his and another musician's daughters, listened to him preform a shortened version of the "Suggestive song" with a guitar, and even got him to sign a tobasco sauce bottle as a joke. He is one of the nicest men alive, and I feel honored to have met him.

  • This is not really a song. It is, rather, text set to music. Interesting text, for that matter, and a pretty disturbing video.

  • awkward moment when the top comment has more likes than the actual video ;D

  • I love this song.... heard it for the first time on Grey's Anatomy, shazam-ing in front of the tv lol :-)

  • Wow beautiful ♥

  • sooo happpy that ed sheeran brought me here:) a beautiful song!

  • Like the animation, but the song is candy for sweet-toothed wasps. Never happens. I wonder why?

  • @sitwosaints make it happen then. think of it as inspiration.

  • @sitwosaints Beautiful stories are meant as example and inspiration, not factual truth. The fable of the tortoise and the hare is a great example of this, but do you think a tortoise actually raced a hare? Of course not. It's meant as inspiration.

  • i genuinely love this song. <3

  • Such an amazing song and underrated artist.

  • This is about the eighth time I've had to listen to this song since yesturday when I first heard it.

The end is really worth a wait if any of you viewers aren't feeling like hearing the whole thing out.

  • every time i hear this song i have to think of izzie and denny *-* <3

  • I heard this song long before greys anatomy had it on, but in the past year I started watching Grey's and got incredibly excited when I heard it :D

  • Beautiful

  • I just found this song randomly while typing random stuff in the search bar... and wow... this is just... holy shit.

  • this is an incredible song with an awesome message

  • I love this song especially at 3:06

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Very good and refreshingly non-religious.

  • Comment removed

  • @traumatp Not religious?

    Gabriel=archangel

Isaiah 45:23 By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear.

Romans 14:11 It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.'"

  • wow

  • I know 9 people who the world can do without...

  • dear marie, I've got all answer of "why" when I was 33. if you ask me, promise I'll tell you ;-)

  • Our youth group is doing a skit to this song.

Its amazing, and really hits home for me being as my [homeless] grandfather died two years ago.

  • Thanks for posting, pleasure to listen to and watch.

  • we listened to this in chapel in school today and i immediately loved it. It's such an amazing song and I've been singing it all day.

  • This song has very special meaning to me. My bro went missing for over 2 years. Eventually the Salvation Army found him for us.

  • I also discovered this song watching Grey's!! :) they always play the greatest songs. Good stuff ♪♫ i wanna twitter Shonda Rhimes to thank her!!

  • hahah i just told my friend that greys has the best songs in that show! Thursdays episode had an Ingrid Michaleson or is it michales song in it called Chains...its great!

  • es ist so traurig und so schön

  • I saw this on Grey's too..it sucked because the song wasn't even released yet. I like this song though "hallelejuah" is the best part.

  • ....heard it on greys anatomy and fell in love with it from there!

  • haha i went straight from the tv to the computer so i wouldn´t forget the words and found the song haha:P

  • @huboo me too

  • @huboo greys has some of the best music

  • @huboo I just started watching grey's anatomy. just finished season two episode 21 and immediately came here. : )

  • wowiewowiewowie

  • Prefer this with the Guitar intro, like on the Hope album

  • i love this song! where can i download it?

  • I get chills every time I listen to this song - especially at the end where he says "every knee shall bow..." What a great song.

  • This song AND video is so amazing.

  • I think it's a bit harsh to call it excluding. It's a song from the artist's point of view, also Foy Vance's father is a minister.

  • basically i cant describe how much i am in love with this song!

its completely amazing and the 'story' to it is beautifully written!

  • Looking forward to seeing him at Beautiful Days, lovely song (though for me can do without the God references - find it slightly offputting and excluding).

  • well it's 1 song from 1 artist, he happens to be an amazing one, but still, it's not really supposed to seclude any one, just give someone else a small incite into the artists feelings. You can listen to an usher song without actually making love in da club can't you? lol

  • you said it perfectly!!

  • lol thats a really good example.

i like the way you think!

  • well i actually find it very hard to listen to usher anyway. physically. but why is it offputting that it happens to have religious references? the words he uses are amazing. doesn't matter whether they're biblical references or not. reminds me of hallelujah, actually.

  • i wanted to sing this in church for my show but felt since my church has very very weird rules that since it said TRAMP I should probably pass..but i do find it religous in ways

  • In this particular vernacular, a tramp was a hobo or a vagabond. Not like the sexual connotation used in slang. You should come back to it and sing it some time at your church. The message is wonderful and transcends religions. It's about humanity and finding hope when you are lost inside and taking the extended hand of those that want to help.

  • But this isnt hallelujah :/ He just uses that word, which is just a religious word in his song......

  • @thebanderosse i wanst saying it was.someone was saying something about hallelujah and i set them straight.

  • @thebanderosse foy vance is the son of a pastor, and the word hallelujah is and expression of praise and joy.

  • Beautiful song, even if I don't understand the voices. The music is so nice ...

  • This song is beautiful. I love how the girl's eyes just burst open when he whispers, "Hope." I've listened to this song likely about 10 times in the last week, haven't tuired of it yet.

  • I have listened to this songs countless times, and every time I do, it never fails to make every hair on the back of my neck stand on end. And each time, I get filled with the same sense of overflowing joy for God.

This man is one of true talent and has the undoubted gift of telling a significant story throuhg songwriting..I have respect the size of the world for Foy.

God Bless mate. I cant wait for Summer Madness 2008.

  • i shivered when i first heard this song on grey's anatomy....

  • this is still one of my favorite songs :D

  • I hear gods love in the song!!! God bless Foy Vance.

  • wow i love this song..

one of the best songs i ever heard <3

  • OMG! I luv this song! its still amazing to find such GOD given, positive lyrics, with his heavenly voice! Rock on and GOD bless!

  • I think I like the longer version better, but what an awesome song.

  • maybe ( on a serious note) one of the greatest songs ever written, a testiment to hope... like Shawshank

  • Heartbreakingly lovely.

  • OMG we watched this at our church and my friend started crying it's a sad video but so good.

  • a-freaking-mazing. i got chills. that sounds lame, but seriously.

  • They remind me of Newton Faulkner, I love this kind of music. I heard this song on Grey's Anatomy, glad I found it :) xxx

  • Foy is THE best! He's one of the most inspiring people to me and a blessing to music and world in so many ways!

  • Love it so much.

  • this is an amazing song...but not how i pictured the video at all

  • Exellent text, video and melody. Looking forward to get this album myself.

  • legend. brilliant song sung briliantly

  • For anyone interested:

You should check out my animation piece...

    "Liturgy"

It shows Ultimate Reality unfolding as heaven and earth come together

  • it made the scene on Greys Anatomy perfect.

  • it REALLY did...as if the song that preceeded it ("How to Save a Life")wasn't brilliant enough!!

  • An excellent song. He is the truth!!!

  • Vance shows qualities of a true songwriter.

Gabriel and the Vagabond is a song which is written with such brutal truth that you cannot listen without being moved.

  • i loved this on grey's... it made that particular scene

  • yeh, but, was it actually foy singin it, because the original is sung in an irish accent, the version in greys anatomy is with an american accesnt! check it out, i dont think it is foy!

  • I have that album, and it's definitely Foy who sings on the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack...

  • yes, but on the actual show, it sounds like someone else, with an american accent!

  • Hey guys... I didn't know you cared... I'm glad you do!

So here's the low down brown... They version on the show is sped up, which makes it sound funny in many ways. Play it against this version and it'll make sense. For the record it freaked me out when I first heard it too... I was thinking they'd got someone else in to sing it.

    Thanks for the support cubs...x

  • You guys need to order the new record.."Hope" Its not available In the States yet but I ordered mine from some import place.....cost a bit more but its well worth it.

  • what a fantastic song this is

foy vance has his lyrics off to a tee! he is a blessed man! god bless everythin that he does. good guy

  • fantastic just in time for homelessnes sunday last sunday in january

  • I love it when his accent comes through.

  • Then he looked to the crowd and they were laughing out loud

But he could not see them fore tears

    When his vision came round

There was a young girl on the ground

I knew she was fine and hard to cope

She never was a fighter until he laid beside her

    And gently whispered hope

  • totally clean and honest beautifully done

  • i saw this on the 'heaven & earth' show this morning - and it is truly amazing - thank you so much for such an inspirational song and animation

  • Just occasionally something causes you to shiver...brrrr

  • I saw this video on some religious programme this morning. moved me big style. Never heard the artist before. FANTASTIC

  • Brilliant

  • just saw foy vance in vicar street last nite and was hypnotised, amazing amazing show! nice one... love the video!

  • I really enjoyed this. Really apt video for the song, but that doesn't surprise me; the music/art balance has always been really good and complimentary in the past. Did Joanne do this?

    Catx

  • Pity about the song, but the video is better than "Take On Me" by A-Ha.

  • Well... what do you say? Obviously it's great stuff. Major kudos to the Foymeister for the way he writes songs. My introduction to him was at a gig, so it's always been weird for me to hear him when he's not needing to project his voice. In a way it feels something *less* vocally, because of his amazing Live voice; but then there are different dynamics.

    Anyway, it's a great song.

  • Absolutely beautiful in every way!

  • Simply stunning Foy. Good work. Good luck for Dec 18th.

  • Wonderful!
