i doubt that straight 6 will fit in a ranger unless you do some major cuttin to the fire wall hell i stucck a 4.9 out of a f150 and put it in a s10 and god i didnt have a grill lol it was a farm / beater truck

it would be easier to drop in a 302 expecially if you have a v6 in there because they make an engine mount thats 100 bucks for it and its only 100lbs heavier than a stock 2.9l engine

@Ford20060 maybe..but i have the ol' lima tech 2.3 4banger..but it does have a manual tranny so its not the slowest thing around town..i mean..it might keep up with a geo metro..lol..but i want the 300 in it because everybody does the 302 or 351 swap...id just like to be a little difference and still have a torqe monster sleeper.the 4.9 has an uncaracteristic amount of torqe.but thats because its a straight..so idk..i fugure a 4.9l 5spd and a t-1 should wake it up pretty well

well a strait six isnt gonna wind up as quick as a v8 will but your right about the tourqe a 4.9l will out pull a 302 any day and good luck with the strait six engine swap , post a video if yah get it working

willit fit? a straight six is long and tall and the space under the hood aint much. but like you said it has more tourque than most things out there

Woa dude nice Ranger! We had an 86 Ranger but it was just a 4 banger. Put over 200k on that truck, then put another motor in her an she had nearly 300k when we sold her. That truck was like the energizer bunny, it just kept gonig! I've got a 90' Bronco II now with the same 2.9 V6 in it, but I've got a V8 in the garage to put in. That sounds wicked though, might have to get some flowmasters myself if I don't compete my V8 swap!

I got a 92 ranger with a 3.0, i cut the muffler off and ran a Y pipe from the cat back. It sounds pretty good too :) Rangers are badass

I had a 1991 ranger with straight pipes and i love how it sounded untill the day came when I did a exhaust clip with my girl friend at the wheel. It souned like a 4 banger from the outside and a big 6 on the inside. Fun truck will miss it.
