  • Thanx for sharing. The video/sound is incredible! Looking forward to seeing them in LA in May 2012 !!!

  • I wish I could see them playing live over here... in France! :))

  • @h0ll0h

    Arf, you miss them ?

Enfin merde, tu les as loupé ? Ils sont passé la derniere fois il y a deux ans il me semble...

  • damn i love this song

  • one of their best perform

  • He is in such a good mood here! Very rare footage:-)

  • first time I watched this I was high on shrooms, and at 3:30 i swore that the trees were moving to the music, lolol

  • drugs have totally taken over his appearance.

  • @necrosunn How so? He's like 44 or something now. He looks his age & still pretty babe'ish. He was in his 20s in Dig.

  • He's living as Brian Jones.

  • anton might not have an amazin voice to sum people but know1 could sing this song the way he does

  • I think Anton just loves the A chord, so many songs are built around that it's awesome

  • Anton was seriously mining tunes from Loves first two albums with this stuff ... anybody who knows the music from the period can see the road signs pointing at specific songs by specific bands ... nothing wrong with that, it's the way of art and artists.

  • I think the line up is Anton Newcombe, Joel Gion on tambourine, Dan Allaire on drums, Will Carruthers on bass, Ricky Maymi and Frankie "Teardrop" Emerson on guitars, and I THINK that's Rob Campanella sitting and the keyboards and occasionally playing guitar, but it's hard to tell because they don't really show his face.

  • @theogpvskater

As far as I know, Dean Taylor hasn't played with the BJM in over a decade. Maybe since Strung Out In Heaven. But I can't quite tell who's there apart from Anton & Joel due to the camerawork. Let me see if I can find out what the line up was around this time.

  • Getting some of these lyrics tattooed soon. Life changing song.

  • watch shit on youtube for ages....then come back to this to feel real again.

  • as a gesture or token, nevertheless, listen to the vox sing out! great!

  • is that dean taylor next to joel on the right playin 2nd guitar? i only got a glimpse of him.

  • Great fucking sound quality too.. I can hear every single instrument. Awesome upload ProspectHammer!!

  • how damn fkin cool is this song?

  • Please dont miss out the gaps, I like seeing them between tracks

  • I can't imagine myself at the center of the stage, tapping tamborines in two hour concerts. No wonder Joel is always stoned...

  • I think I love Anton, btw I am male and not gay

  • One of THE greatest bands ever!!!

  • fuckin bliss

  • The bass player didn't last long.

  • BJM ! The finest band on the planet today ! They are now eight, and I hope they stay that way for a long time.

  • All the versions I've heard of this song...it gets better everytime I hear it.

  • Are you going to bash me if I write that in my opinion most of the musicians, and especially the drummer, that play with Anton look stupid... ?

Nevertheless, I like very much this band and this song! :)

  • @h0ll0h They dont look stupid the are just real people and not the glammed up cr*p we usually see on stage

  • BJM>Dandy Warhols

  • Only God knows how I like this song ! XP

  • @h0ll0h god does'nt exist

  • It's fairly incredible how rich their sound is live; this is by no means an easy recording to replicate on a stage. Yet it's done perfectly here; losing none of the warmth of the original, and gaining a little edge in the bargain.

I've been checking out this concert at about the rate of one song per night, and have been awestruck by each clip.

Talk about a band that's earned its legend.

  • i heard this song in a skate video and then i saw they were playing in my town the next week. so i went. they are so good!

  • What sort of guitar is Anton playing? I love the sound of it.

  • looks like Vox Cheetah.

  • orgasmic

  • What year was this? Had to be recent...Anton is looking good. I guess the move to Iceland did him good. Fuck LA and OC.

  • great, cant wait to see them live

  • amazing rock band.

  • something about this song reminded me of "Cartoon Boyfriend" from The Wonder Stuff

  • joel looks so fking bored ...lol...love that guy!!!

  • WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Like I have said before about the BJM, I have loved many women, but not as strongly at the BJM. :D CHEERS!

  • anton came to the sunny town of bolton not too long ago n pretty much wrote 3 songs in 3 days, the finished version of one of them is called "lets go fuckin mental"

  • u'd b suprised. bit different to jonestown stuff, more electro but still good

  • Anybody known where i can find any musicsites about the brian jonestown massacre? mp3, wma? ...

  • Go on isohunt and you can find a pretty healthy torrent with their whole back-catalogue.

  • wow, this could be the best song written since joy division was still a band.

    HOW I love this!! insane.

  • Best band I've ever seen to date. On their day they can take live music to a whole new level.

  • Sounds just like the album version.

    Amazing.

  • Man, that drummer must burn off 5,000 calories per show! Love BJM.

  • TexWhatever.... Get urself the cd "tepid peppermint wonderland" its just exellent

  • thanks for the tip - will do :D

  • found the song i want to cover - that girl suicide.

god i love that song (although for some reason it reminds me of gary numan's .. cars) :D

  • tex,, check out the video. "brian jonestown massacre live in austin 14/4/09 "

  • shall do

    thank you.

    love nevertheless too.

    anton is a genius

  • i couldn't watch it. didn't even get to see the song. i'm on slow dialup (down to 34k). all i got was 30 seconds of them pissfarting around on the stage. pity it didn't just go into the song.

i don't mean to be rude but .. ever heard of editing?

  • I didn't realize people still used dialup.

  • yeah. sorry man didn't mean to come across all harsh. out in the bush in australia we still have dialup as we're waaay behind the US. our govt has just announced a 46billion dollar whizz bang rollout so you can get super duper DSL even if you live under a clump of moss in a cave but for now if you are over a km from the exchange you get dialup or satellite that sucks a gonad. can't wait for super fast. we had conservatives for the past decade and they were like the fucking flintstones :D

  • It's okay. I never really realized the 30 seconds of nothing when I uploaded it. Although, I think most of the other songs in the set besides 1 or 2 start off pretty quickly give or take a couple of seconds. Besides from Servo with the short dialogue.

  • i should give it another try then a bit later. i'm actually after one particular bjm song from the end of DIG! i've seen the vid but waiting on the DVD order which should make it easier to find but it has this rumbling bass line at the turnaround at the end of each bar and it's amazing. he does it in another song i've noticed. i've made a list of all the bjm songs fromt he flick and i'm trying to eliminate each one. getting right into anton's work. wanna start writing similar material myself :)

  • Haha, Australia sounds hella awesome to me XD

  • @TexWhatever don't worry though, Australia is way ahead of America in SO MANY ways that are more significant than internet speed

  • hahaha, damnit man, you just did him in. :)

  • 34k?

    upgrade mate.

  • how sport?

i live in the middle of the bush - you know, the 2% of australia ADSL DOESN'T reach.

i'll wait for hevvy kevvy's dsl2 rollout. and for UPLOAD speeds to be better than fucking dialup!!

besides which terrestrial DSL still goes down the phone line dude

  • like i said - tell me how!!

  • @TexWhatever i like watching them pissfarting around.

  • @TexWhatever

ist like a boxing fight without the breaks between the rounds, when you can hear the coach who gives advises.

that´s the gig and we want to see it entirely!

  • why am i the only one who loves this? i wanna be on stage n be part of it everytime i see it !

  • whatever.....bassist does ace. again,,, top tune. Anton gives n dont take, fact.

  • me n my son love this song, we sing 2gether! he's 6 im 35! ace song , love it

  • Matt Hollywood was playing with them in Seattle in March. Joel was hat less.

  • The bassist is literally learning the songs on stage

  • Interesting observation. Are you a musician? I only ask because I am pretty sure it'd one to notice something like that. I can't tell, but then again I'm no musician.. just a person who appreciates :) I love this venue.. at one with nature.

  • Look around 0:23 he starts flipping through a book of notes about each song, tells him how many verses to play, where the solos are and such.

  • heh, anton probably hired him minutes before the gig. :) but yes indeed that is the book that shows song progression. If you pause you can see "verse 2 times" "move into solo" etc.

  • Seriously - helloooooo

  • You don't have to be uptight about it man. I have played many live shows and seen many live shows and never have the bands read tabs. I do know that Anton has a habit of hiring and firing on the spot. Miranda Lee Richards has even said her first time meeting him he fired the drummer. Also, if you watch the Anemone performance from Dig, he is showing the guitarist how to play the chords at the beginning. No disrespect to him whatsoever though, Anton is the man for sure.

  • I'll be damned, you are right! How could I miss that, sheesh lol. I type too much at this site, I know.. wish there was a BJM group or something to chat with other folks who are into their sound. Btw, the band looks so "right" in this Scandinavian (Norway) venue. Joel oozes coolness, as usual.

  • There used to be a BJM yahoo group back in the day before that wretched film I shall not name - might still be, not sure? I think myspace kind of phased that out tho

  • why doesnt BRMC write lyrics just as good as Anton ?

  • Joel be Da Man!

  • One of the most outstanding bands from this period..!

  • best. lyrics. ever.

  • PERFECT!! nothing else needs to be said about this

  • That drummer is hardly more than a kid but he sets and keeps that beat damn good. I'm really impressed by him.. How long has he been with BJM, anyone know? He seems very unjaded. And I'm happy for Anton and his wife :)

  • dan the drummer joined around 4-5 years ago...he is a fucking great drummer in a fucking gret band!

another fucking amazing peformance by anton...pure art!

  • He really is talented (the drummer). He just gives the sound a whole new center. And Anton is strong enough to carry it all. I love this song the most and aside from the performance in Paris, this is my 2nd favorite. Oh to have been to this show..

  • incredible

  • Much love to Anton. Beautiful song, man. Look at those trees!

  • the most talented musician ever!!! and one of the best bands ever.. it´s not the best because the rolling stones exist!! nice song this is one the most wonderfull songs written by anton.

  • Fuck, his lyrics man...Sensational.Inspirational.Amazing.

  • Where is this at? These people just don't get it. I'm putting this live version on my ipod now!

  • Arendal, Norway...June 2008

  • semplicemente perfetta

  • Tough crowd
