  • Man this is fucking cool

  • I miss VHS tapes.

  • DAT BASS!

  • its the bass!!

  • This Rocks!!! Thanks for the Post. I saw it few times on MTV back in the Early 90's. Thanks Again for the Post. :)

  • I was born in 96 but according some people say I should have been a child of the 60's. the way I feel about it is that any generation could be better than mine. grunge was the last great post war movement. america is becoming more in debt and less free by the second. I wish I could have been a child of the 50's, 60's, 70's,80's, 90's any time but the 2000's.

  • @pinballwizard150 well you can't help when you were born , but you are right , as for me I was born in 1974 & the 70's & 80's was awesome & the 90's was good also

  • criminally underrated guitarist. able to shift from hardcore, to country to psychedelia in a heartbeat

  • I LOVE THE OLD MTV OPENING!!!

  • dura mucho buscando quien cantaba esta cancion...por fin la encontre

  • When I was a teenager in the 90's and stoned as fuck,I was all dude...the 90's blow man.Now Im all shit wish I woulda taken pictures because it was an awesome time and I wish I could remember most of it.Anyone??

  • Thanks to Kurt Cobain now I know one more excellent group !

  • hell yea meatpuppets

  • what's Aic

  • @JamesBurdin2010 Aic = Alice in Chains

  • Finally the version with the lead in there.

  • good song, but it doesn't compare to meat puppets II

  • back then if you wore a flannel shirt and ripped jeans you were cool

  • @LqrDrnkr757 in florida the style is coming back, unfortunately the music preference isnt...

  • @LqrDrnkr757 My group of girlfriends and I called ourselves the "Flannel Panel" because it just wasn't going to be a good day unless we had our flannel shirts on. lol

  • 1994, a wierd year I was 19 years old turned 20 in september that year, what a year to say goodbye to my teenage years

  • this song is clearly about taking a shit, but who knew that a song about such a subject could be so amazing...

  • Comment removed

  • I remember listening to this song a lot when I was a preteen...always wonder what happened to them...this was such a great song

  • @Vampirelover935 hahaha i was postteen :)

  • I play this for every backwards fkn thing that happens here daily!

  • 7 people stand there lookin backward half unconscious from the pain.

  • Best song of Puppets !! Without a question !! Pure Live Grunge 90s sound !!!!

The big t-shirts, the converse shoes, the coke cans, the Marlboro boxes and Bill Clinton.

  • but just like said; "some things will never change"

  • who wouldve thought that the 90s would become generation x and y's 60s?

  • Meat. Puppets. 6 people fuctup & hit the wrong damn button.

  • 6 people know someone who drowned in the backwater

  • @the koala 78 are you joking??cris is alive and well!!wait....maybe he's a cris impersonater!!ha ha haj/k

  • Nice!

  • Great song! Reminds me of great times.

  • love this song,,, love this video...

  • One of my favorite songs of the 90s! Hell, favorite songs EVER!

  • damn R.I.P Cris. stupid drugs!! grrrrrr

  • @TheKoala1978 He didn't die of drugs. He didn't die. He got shot by a police officer after punching him in the face.

  • @TheKoala1978 shit!, he is not dead!, drugs? , Cris had always been clean

  • R.I.P Cris Kirkwood. just heard the news, a sad loss for music :(

  • @castlekingside28 He is totally not dead dude...I promise

  • yup somethings will never change

  • You know I swear the Meat Puppets were Grunge before anyone knew what it was. I don't think they ever got the credit they deserved.

  • @Mettal4 agreed.

  • @Mettal4 they surprassed al boundaries they deserve alot more credit my friend!

  • @Mettal4

if you've heard any other song of theirs besides this one you'd know that they are one of the great influences of grunge, alas very far from it

  • aye can't get this on CD anywhere and on the web its for 20 pounds !!

  • Great song :)

  • this is a killer song. has one of the best guitar solos ever

  • Backwater

  • I remember seeing these guys in some of the local alternative bars in Houston, back in the mid 90's

  • i saw these dudes play once and it lasted over 4 hours, they were insanely good

  • here's an oldie but goodie

  • this is pretty fucking awesome. Way better than the shit that comes out.

  • these dudes still get airplay and damn if I never remember who sings it.. Dammit MP, get us some new stuff. I Love that one lyrick tho, " Just when we're sheltered under paper, the rockets come at us sideways". I wonder if that means that no matter how much money (paper) we have, something ( a sideways rocket ) finds a way to fck our sh*t up. Said in so many words to translate of course. Sort of like Spicolli in Fast Times when he was taking the pre-prom test with Mr. Hand.

  • stop taking about nirvana they are not the meat puppets. They are there own band they just played a show together. God id love to see what the nirvana fanboys post on vaseline songs. You are all annoying and you respect some low self esteemed jerk who had no balls to take care of his family or anything cuz he was too busy being fucked up. meat puppets are way more awesome and im glad nirvana didnt bastardize this song too

  • Is not called "bastardize" is called admiring other musicians work just like other still admire Nirvana's music even today, yes the guy had some problems, and the only way possible for him to get rid of em was to do what he did it was his choice, and no one has a right to judge him other than his family, specially when someone like him did what he did and showed the masses, and still inspiring todays generations, people like him are more successful than stuck ups in life believe it or not.

  • @Cx203 true i just ge mad cuz its people constantly talk about nirvana on every meat puppets song. Its all perspective and mine happened to be mean the day i wrote that. But you are right also. I just like being an asshole cuz it helps me stay positive about myself and not stuck up.

  • ¡uy, joder!

    ¡maldito payaso!

  • it'd be amazing if Nirvana did a cover of this one.

  • @djibril1000 dude this is 1994 - kurt commided suicide in 1993

    think man!!!

  • @deWORLDsucks: please, couldn't you at least have looked up the year he died, since you were obviously not born yet.

  • hey bro im sorry i know he died 94 but just wrong ok

and still he wasnt into music any more at 93 so it would still be impossible (i know, he did concerts but he didnt WROTE anmore)

  • Actually he died in April of 1994.

  • Why? They couldn't touch it.

  • i own the guitar that this song was recorded on

  • @ichbinman103 cool, is it the one in the video, that one looks like a Paul, but with a maple neck? custom job?

  • no not the one in the video the one in the recording its a 58 ressiue with an ebony neck and yes it is custom shop

  • @ichbinman103 o ok, is it the same one in this video of lake of fire? watch?v=DLwb49ax0Ro&playnext_from=TL&videos=yYByzRpcLSY

  • meat puppets were my first show back in middle school................I like them even more now that I rediscovered this

  • love it! I heard an acoustic version somewhere, it was even better.

  • "Just when we shelter under placemats..."

  • EXCELENTE CANCIÓN!.

  • this video is out of control...that guitar in the guitar solo and at the end is so awesome...good song

  • great solo, indeed!

  • everything about this is everything the 90s was...love the song, love the memories

  • @TheChrisnew can't wait to go see these guys at the gorge next week the 30th, Soundgarden, meat puppets, qotsa, and mastodon very nice day to come.

  • Que buen tema, que buena banda

  • ha this vid came out when i was born

  • watch and learn, young grasshoppa, watch and learn...

  • It reminds me of my best time in the past

  • I agree. This song came out in my teenage years. Brings back so many memories.

  • I was in Middle School, same here!

  • brings back some good times good memories

  • The young dudes on here won't remember an obscure band from the late 70s called FOTOMAKER. They were a curious amalgam of Wally Bryson from the Raspberries, a couple of guys from the Rascals, and a few other guys. This song reminds me style-wise of Fotomaker and the 70s, although it has a much harder edge in terms of the guitar solo. If you get a chance, check out FOTOMAKER and see if you don't get a weird deja vu feeling in terms of song structure.

  • this is a good song. but i like the killers "indie" okay thaks for the video. then start your won band hahahaha

  • this vid makes me feel like im on an acid trip lol

  • Reminds me of one of the first songs to play after Stern Show 1994-95 on K-Rock

  • lol the first time i heard the meatpuppets it was on nirvana unplugged, and i thort they were an accoustic country band........totally untrue

  • TRUE ALT-ROCK AT ITS PRIME

  • true tat...dumbasses these days calls all these bands that just dress the part alt-rock and indie...if they dont know who the puppets are. they're stupid

  • it's too bad nobody makes good quality rock and roll like this anymore. nowadays it's just all this pre-packaged pop/rock/heavyhop bullshit with absolutely no substance or meaning at all. it drives me insane.

  • start your own fucking band then, play what you wanna hear.

  • i do have a band, and have had a band for years, and we play what we want to hear, and always will. . .

  • that's good, i just wish everyone that says "i hate music nowadays" would start a band... there'd be a lot more good music out there.

  • well u see u cant get ure music heard unless u have tight pants and have a gay hair cut and scream about gay stuff.

  • fuck the radio, i'm not talking top 40. i don't care what you wear or your haircut, everyone's got a problem with something. people just need to trash their guitar hero games and play.

  • I know MTV lacks music these days, but they should at least have a show to show music from back in the day, like this. SO, they can see what WE used to see in the past.

  • its on piratebay. download the whole discography

  • I can't find this song on anything. iTunes, Zune, Piratebay, Limewire, SkreemR, nowhere. D:< Someone send me it.

  • i found it right away on bit torrent

  • this song its awesome. . .but the vid creeps me out

  • LOL

  • great song. forgot about it for awhile. Takes me back.

  • that clown is freaking me out.........

  • cool song ,the 90s were a fun time.AIC,soundgarden, pulp fiction

  • This ROCKS.

  • one of the best songs of it's decades!!!! :D damn i miss the 90's!!!

  • i miss the 90's too!! god im going to be 32 next month!! not worried abt getting old, just wondering where the time went

  • you ain't kidding. I turn 30 in July. Where the hell did time go? It doesn't seem like that long ago. 15 freakin years gone like a flash

  • only like 5,000 days eh

  • you can tell this is a Rocky Schenk video. He directed alot of Alice in Chains videos.

  • Just an awesome song

  • This is definitely one of my favourites from The Meat Puppets...Thank god for the 90's! : )

  • Yea, I remember this song from when I was young (I was 13 at the time). I knew the words, just never the name of the group until a few years ago.

  • great band!!!!

  • great song!!rock on...

  • i want the 90s back, take me back

  • The rock music and R&B music was pretty golden back then. Wasn't it?

  • a great song ever

  • How old is this song?

  • Came out about 94 back when bands like Offspring and Candlebox were blowing up. Great times!

  • 1994.

  • This seriously takes me back to like 1st grade. It's sucha weird feeling thing how music can take you somewhere in someway.

  • umm if your in 1st grade i highly doubt that you remember this fucking song

  • I didn't know an illiterate could get a YouTube account. Good for you.

  • Yeah uh...I was in 1st grade when this song came out...c'mon now.

  • What about Lake of Fire and Plateau? Famous enough for Nirvana to cover them...

  • hey man fuck off

  • Nah how about you fuck off you fucking tool and get a fucking life your almost 30 and your still trying to live that musicians dream.

  • thats what they keep saying but to bad im in high school u fuck

  • grfeat guitar solo maaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!!

  • Great song and great guitar solo!!!!

  • BUEN VIDEO DE LOS 90´S

  • Does this remind anyone else of the intro to "saved by the bell-the college years"?

  • ha ha, for reals. i just saw an episode of that today too oddly enough. the one where zach and kelly decide to get married but then the reverend walks in on their bridal shower/bachelor party. ha ha, i feel stupid for saying all of this. but sbtb rocked and that's a fact. still does.

  • well this is pretty boring. but alright i guess.

  • IT'S INCREDIBLE

    (LL

    90S (L)(L)

    Juanma

  • shut up and listen to the music.. damn

  • are you retarded

  • Give it up for the Pups... you know you want to.

  • This song is great, I haven't heard it in such a long time. 10 years plus I bet! It's definately a classic!

  • Yeah the lead guitar is missing.Otherwise i love this song.

  • are you retarded?

  • In 1994 i was 19 , and id never heard of this band , but saw this video . Got the album . And it nicely added to my music collection . 14 years later , i still am moved by this song . The lyrics ( the rockets come at us sideaways .. ] are genious Thanks for posting it ..

  • I LOVE these guys! Saw them in DC and had the worse headache of my life... but I love them.

  • aguante

  • Bruce Campbell twins on horse tranqs.

I remember the first time hearing the Meat Puppets: No Strings Attached comp. Going between songs like "In A Car" and "Up On the Sun" was a real shock; punk rock on a serious Manson acid trip one minute, and just as suddenly: a soundtrack for preschoolers stranded in the middle of the desert a'la Bill Monroe and Creedence. I loved it; was a good swirl of sweet and sour on the musical palette at the time.

  • Heh heh, change it buttmunch.

  • Well-directed and creative video, although they could have done without the clown in a mu-mu! What was up with that, guys?

  • Wrong

  • You seem like the idiosyncrasy of a complaining, masochistic, and ill-minded youtuber who complains about all that he/she sees, hears, tastes, and does.

  • You seem like the typical loser who has no life except making others look bad to make yourself feel better.

  • Just a little note: Before you use "big" words, make sure you're using them correctly. Otherwise, your attempt to sound smart comes back and bites you in the ass. The definition of "idiosyncrasy" is as follows: "a behavioral attribute that is distinctive and peculiar to an individual". Your use makes no sense, in context.

  • Though in retrospect, you have the behavioral attribute distinctive and peculiar to that of one who is a "complaining, masochistic, and ill-minded youtuber who complains about all that he/she sees, hears, tastes, and does."

    Touche, bitch.

  • Why, yes, yes you did, in fact, copy and paste that together. Thing is, if it's distinctive and peculiar to one who is "complaining, masochistic, and ill-minded", how can it be applied to a group?

  • You know, the group of people who fit those characteristics and, according to your definition its only peculiar to an individual.

  • ehhh...then go to the music store and pick up backstreet boys and new kids on the cock...this would have to be creative to you if you think an innovative and VERY creative band like the meatpuppets is otherwise...even if you dont like them, an idiot can see they are contrary to what you say, DOUCHEBAG!!!

  • i was replying to flyingburritoman btw

  • new kids on the cock.... fuck thats hilarious

  • just curious...why is this song on your favorites list if you blast it?

  • I only blasted the video; I like the song. Just curious, why are you investigating me?

  • when people come to post and blast shit i like, i see if they have some retarted shit on their channel and i blast them, like...if you woulda had backdoor boys or poo skids on the cock...i woulda blasted away. basically i love to stir up shit...trade you a pizza for a burrito as a peace offering?

  • i can't stand early 90's music videos, in retrospect.

for a band that is responsible for one of the greatest cult records ever made (meat puppets II), their attempt at commercial rock wasn't so bad. I might actually prefer Too High To Die to Nirvana's Nevermind, which are comparable in that they are both pop records made by bands with a decidedly more "punk" ethic.

  • 90's music videos were so much better than the shitty videos bands put out now

  • I think they're equally as bad in complete opposite ways. The standard grunge rock video of the early 90's was totally underproduced, whereas the music videos of today are way too overproduced. To be fair, the only era of music videos I was really in love with was the early 80's, when MTV was new and everybody kind of approached the artform in a different way. Ever since the late 80's, they've become kind of homogenized, which is to be expected really.

  • yea but the fact that they were underproduced is what made them good...look at the puppets video for get on down. thats a great video and its a piece of shit

  • Wrong.

  • They rule 90s alt saved rock from your glam bands

  • No. . . they didn't. It's ignorant to say otherwise. They're good, but they weren't the absolute, very "best". Just go around and ask people who the "Meat Puppets" are. I bet you most of them won't know.

  • The 90's AltRock Bands Saved Rock Just Like Punk Rock Saved Rock In the 70's

93 94 best years for rock in a long time

  • Punk Rock didn't save Rock Music!

  • Sure It did 70 mainstream rock was boring Punk was refreshing and was back to the basic

    thinking

    Raw And stripped down

Not Over produced waterdown Boring garbage

  • He's saying alt-rock saved rock, in general, by changing the mainstream which, at the time, was glam rock to, instead, grunge and alternative. He didn't say that the Meat Puppets saved it, but that it was a conglomeration of bands that did so.
