oh dear electronic valve actuation...sounds like an accident waiting to happen...with mechanical s at least you have half a chance of a running repair
@svammen I saw your posts on the MAN site and wonder if I could ask you a few questions about operational aspects of your vessel. Thank you for your help.

If its a two stroke whats the cam for? Injector pump or what?
frosty9595 1 year ago
@frosty9595
You are right, there is a injection pump cam and a center exhaust valve actuating cam for each cylinder

So how do you suppose we will propel our ships?
sambenny 2 years ago 3
They said something like that when boiler pressures rose to a level where they could no longer fill them by gravity from the seawater outside.
Progress is ongoing.
Erictheirritated 2 years ago
as boiler pressure rises, we utilize an "injector" which uses steam to create a venturi and thus raise the pressure of the feedwater
bluecollarboiler 2 years ago
I can't see what that has to do with the point of my comment.
In any case, a feedwater pump is thermodynamically much more efficient than an injector.
Erictheirritated 2 years ago
no we need them all still, nobody has been made redundant.

What is the fuel consumption tph at full power?
transdrole 3 years ago
Onbord my vessel we have a MAN B&W 6S50MC-C
That produces 9480 kW / 12700 hp, at full speed witch is 127 rpm (14 kn).
At that load we use 25 Tons of heavy fuel every 24 hours!
