The trouble with the first part is that basically the filmmaker is demanding we assume all scholarship is a lie, based on a grand conspiracy (that includes Jews, Atheists, Agnostics, etc), that was only refuted by a handful of 19th century amateurs (non-experts). I'm not sure what you're perporting. If you're claiming that the bible is a book of facts, then I have absolutely no interest in pursuing this conversation. 1) Jesus' birth is October 21.(Luke 2: 8) shepherds stayed with their flocks in the fields only from Spring to Autumn. It is thus unlikely that the shepherds are out in December.
2) Jesus' disciples is more than 120 during His ascension.
3) The VCHIP or as the Bible described in Revelation 13:16-18 as the mark of the beast.
4) Only the Bible predicted all these things, & you might as well believe that only Jesus saves before it's too late!

Zeitgeist frightens me. Not in the horror movie type way but in the way that I have children to bring up in this nonsense. There's a fine line between raising them to be conscious and aware and being rebellious and subject to having their "RFID turned off."

Even if it isn't true, it still points out major problems in our society. And these problems are so BIG, people will think that there must be a conspiracy behind it.

UFMD1...The movie deals primarily with Christianity and pre-Christian Eastern/Greco-Roman paganism, so much of that stuff is irrelevant anyway.
So the gauntlet is thrown down. If you don't wish to dialog with a fellow scholar, and would prefer to keep arguing with amateurs on here, that's fine. But I figured you might want a step up in rational, civil discussion. If you want to say that parts of the movie are true, you can't get out of it by refusing to demonstrate those parts...

Zeitgeist shows that there is nothing especially "new" in any religion. I don't think it disproves a "God," or a Source, and whether Jesus lived or not,"Someone" did that wrote that stuff. And someone changed the words around later too. Politics is a problem, and they use religion to control. I have studied all of those religious books, Zeitgeist didn't lie about most of it.

UFMD1, the movie shows nothing of the kind. It presents recycled propaganda from the 19th century written by amateur anti-Christians (non-scholars, too btw). It thus doesn't "Prove" anything about ancient religions. The doc most defiantly asserts that Jesus didn't exist as a historical figure (which no professional historians or credible experts assert). I invite you, UFMD1, to debate me over PM if you wish. You said you were a scholar...

The trouble with the first part is that basically the filmmaker is demanding we assume all scholarship is a lie, based on a grand conspiracy (that includes Jews, Atheists, Agnostics, etc), that was only refuted by a handful of 19th century amateurs (non-experts). Frankly, the amateur work of Graves is so laughably erroneous and outdated, that even the Internet Atheists have rightly put up an article warning about using it.

Just because you agree with his conclusion, falsehood is okay? The entire point of the film is that we shouldn't trust authorities, because they lie to us. I'll say this to you as what I'm saying to all the ZEITGEIST believers... if you're really serious about "finding out the truth" then please, please, don't take the words of this documentary, but go out and seek for yourself the evidence. Check out what independent experts say, and don't blindly believe a conspiracy theory. Yes, there's a lot wrong with the world, future is uncertain, but that's no excuse to just act like sheep to a cause just because some movie made you mad.

Did you see the Popular Mechanics debunking of "Loose Change"? Considering how much ZG borrowed from LC, I would think that would be convincing enough. As for the first part, that was largely inspired by Brian Flemming's "God Who Wasn't There" and Acharya S (D.M. Murdoch, who cribbed from Kersey Graves). preventingtruthdecay dot org debunked ZG quite well, but all of the stuff in it I can tell you is crap (can't speak for part 3).
