  • It's impossible to find a explorer with a 5-speed, but im lucky i own one. :)

  • Holy sh**. It takes my 2000 xlt like 10 seconds just to do this lol.

  • sounds awesome!

  • Its a damn good thing these explorers are more reliable than Durangos, but, I have found that the explorer in the late 90s have like 16 recalls. The 4runner has like 3, the durango has like 7 and the blazer has like 6!

  • @Motorfordtoyota

Explorers had their issues but IMO are a far superior vehicle than the Blazer (most vehicles are), so I wouldn't judge just based on the number of recalls. Toyota has always been very coy about avoiding recalls too, at least until recently.

  • why shift so early?

  • Mazda did the heads on the V8 because Ford didnt know what was up and what was down on ohc models

  • @dave777blaster

I hope you're talking about the 4.6L because the 5.0L is a pushrod motor.

  • @masospaghetti Maybe he meant the V6 SOHC?

  • quick question, is this the 4.0 V6?

  • @aftermathsample305

Yes, its the 4.0 OHV V6.

  • FORDS are not made in USA

They use the Engines that Mazda made the heads for

  • Are you trying to troll?

Explorers were built in Louisville, KY and Hazelwood, MO. The 4.0L engine was built in Germany but is a Ford design; the 5.0L and 4.6L were built in the USA. These vehicles, with the exception being the 4.0L engine, have a very high domestic parts content.

  • NO Fords are made in many places some in USA many in other countries

Though the exploder might be made in USA the heads of the V8 engines were made by Mazda

    in Japan.

Though they may be assembled in USA the parts come from all over the world.

china .Japan Korea Mexico Canada etc...

    Depending on the model

I didn't say Explorers are not made in USA

  • Are you stupid?, The heads of the 4.6, and certainly the 5.0 were designed and built in the USA, the 4.0 was designed by Americans. The wireing, interior, exterior, headlights, Most of the ignition(plugs are German), pretty much the whole car is American built, except the Radio.

  • @dave777blaster sorry to ruin your day but, Ford muilt the engines for Mazada, not th eother way around.

  • @dave777blaster

Mazda had nothing to do with the 4.0. You need to get your facts straight.

  • @masospaghetti they designed the heads for them

  • @dave777blaster DUMBASS FORD BUILDS ENGINES FOR MAZDA AND MORE AND THEY ARE ALL FORDS YOU FUCKING RETARDED

  • does it really redline at 4500 rpm?

  • 5200 RPM, but there's no redline on the tach and I didn't know at the time I did this run. Power peak is at 4700, though

  • ...called torque

  • I don't know what exactly you are referring to but you are talking about the 4.0 SOHC motor, not the OHV motor, which hasn't been changed since 1995, and didn't come in any 2001 Explorers.

  • Are you sure? There is no "egr belt", and what vacuum lines are you referring to?

  • The 1998-2001 Ford Explorer are the one that got this problem. The problem begin in the Motorcraft EGR Valve . My 1999 Ford Explorer got this problem is driving me crazy there is nothing i can do . I took it to several repair shop. Not even the ford company will not fix it trust me.. It look easy but it hard to get fix..

  • The temp gauge is a little past the middle.

  • It's the angle of the camera, because it stays right in the middle except when its warming up.

  • its overheating.

  • What makes you say that?

  • No it's not

  • can you make a video of the motor? it seems odd that you would have the OHV, and it doesn't sound like an OHV either...

  • i just researched it. all explorers after 1998 had either a 4.0L SOHC, or the 5.0L

the 97 model had an optional sohc, but the OHV was standard.

  • 2000 was a SOHC motor wasn't it?

  • they all switched over in 2001, no excptions

  • Yes, this was one of the last explorers to have the OHV...in 2000, only the 5-speed manual explorers had it, and for 2001, only the SOHC was used.

  • It was for most Explorers. The only exception was the 2-door model with a 5-speed manual transmission, which still carried the OHV engine.

  • sounds great

  • Vicious. which explorer is that?

  • It's a base model Explorer Sport...4.0 OHV V6 engine with 5-speed tranny. Only mod is the air filter.

  • thats one loud intake.
