I was at one of those John Denver concerts in Dayton, Ohio with the Starland Vocal Band fronting John. Great concert. John did several songs by Bill Danoff over the years and they were all class songs. Thanks for posting.

Although it is true that it wasn't much of a secret what Cassandra was up to, and she wasn't liked by a lot of those close to John, like it or not, she was a part of John's life for a while and there are those who are just as interested in the part she played in his life as they are interested in the rest of the people who were an integral part of John's life and music JMM hope you can find that photo

Enjoyed this not only because it was the last get together on stage for Bill and JD singing their world famous song but because it is so much fun seeing JD singing with some of his other buddies. His get-togethers with NGDB were always great! Also like seeing John with Cassie because she was an important part of his life and it's rare that you see footage of them together because of how JD's fan base feels about her.
Bill, Kris O'Connor and I met John at his hotel after a benefit concert in Baltimore a few weeks before his death, the first time we had been with him since the Aspen gig. Bill and I both agreed it was one of the best times we had ever had with him in all those years. Somewhere I have a photo of the four of us but can't find it.
Why - you must be speaking of the Aussie Whore that slept with whoever could further the career of this talentless slut?? And the fact that JD went off on a short 3 week tour - and came back and 4 of his friends in Aspen told him that she was sleeping with ANYONE that could further her career?
She married Denver only for his career and money - PERIOD! And that little boo-boo when she tried (at his funeral) to sue his estate and take the money from his children for herself!! Real class!!

I was introduced by John to Bill and Taffy backstage at the Universal Amphitheatre after a concert and at the time we lived no more than a mile apart in McLean, VA. By 1990 Bill had become my best friend and I was very glad to have had a major part in bringing him together with John for what would be the last time on stage.
Bill has a new CD out, "Blasted in the Basement" where his studio is in his house. You can find it on his web site. But, it is not Bill's nature to go down to Nashville and be humiliated by people who may know what he has done but don't care about new stuff. When John died he did not have a recording contract.
Years ago Loretta Lynn had no contract. To revive a career I think you need a lot of hustle and great luck to come back as Tony Bennett, Sinatra and others have done.

I just love Potter's Wheel, Country Roads etc.. Please let Bill know, if you get a chance, that there are many, many people who listen to his songs each and every day and appreciate them as gifts to mankind. We so miss John Denver and the beautiful way he sang and played Bill's wonderful songs.
It is Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert (Fat City) - then it was Bill and Taffy Danoff (married) now it is Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert (after the divorce!)!! I think they were married in the 1970s and divorced in the 1980's.
And just to show how life can throw you a curve ball - Bill Danoff was awarded 2 Grammies for his music - John Denver never got one!! Denver was posthumously awarded a Grammy in 1997 for "All Aboard" Best album for Children months after his death!
Just to add to what you've written my old buddy Kris "KO" O'Connor also got a Grammy out of the train album. Well, It is not for me to say what is success. Bill got two Grammys, John made so much money in his career that I understand Jerry Weintraub collected $40 million just for being his agent. Whatever, Bill has a good life with Joan and his kids and I have never heard him crying over who got what. And then there's the fact that Bill, being my best friend, is still around.
I agree - Denver had the "star power" talent and stage presents. But I can always tell a Danoff song - rich - and usually a nice little guitar riff (beginning of "Guess Hed Rather Be In Colorado)!!!!
