  • No running on the gun platform

  • LoL

Check Panzerhaubitze 2000 and you'll find this arty obsolete. :)

  • @KonigTigerPorsche Hey Babyface! What the hell do you know about the artillery! I serve in the German Army. The 2000 is a fully automated howitzer. These guys from the Marine Corps understand their work and they are good. Change your diapers ...

  • miss that big bastard. the m777a2 is a princess compared to m198

  • In the artillery do you get ear protection or do you go out there and fuck your ears up

  • Awesome!

  • That first shot was awesome!

  • what type of explosive are they using? seem pretty ligth

  • @nguyentuan1990 M119 which is a charge (zone) 8 white bag. Good stuff dude...

  • It must suck to get hit by one of those... especially since we're all men.

  • YAY rocknroll!

  • Hey is it an officer that says the stand by and fire or an enlisted?

  • @LtActionCam That's the section chief, enlisted.

  • @desager1 oh cool :]

  • This is my unit on the deployment right before I checked in. The m198 field arty canon marine was gods gun. The m777a2 gets the job done but will never do it like the miner 8 did. Ooo rag toughguy. Get some

  • @ohshitwonder This Was My Gun..and The M777 Took The Man Out Of Artilleryman

  • @Ernices no NLOS will and the 777 breaks easily i was an arty mech in okinawa on camp hansen those things were ridiculous breaking left and right and parts were out of this world on price a castle nut the size of a golfball was $275 and the magazines for the PFM were 4k a pop but when everything is working and running smoothly its amazing

  • pwnage.

  • JESUS CHRIST. That's one hell of a piece of machinery.

  • why does that guy do a little dance before he shouts fire?

  • Must be pretty exciting firing off artillery rounds. plus these guys are all about momentum and whatnot...

  • Artillery units do not get top-of-the-line small arms such as M-4's. They usuaily get M-16A2's since they are low priority. Infantry Units get the good toys like the M-16A4 with all the fun sighting stuff.

  • well no not in Afghanistan because my uncle is an artillery Captain and they are issued with the m-4's.

  • in the marines arty is a combat mos so they are issued M4s my mos 2131 arty mech is considered combat related so i am issued a M4 but i would rather have a M16 because that is what the 5.56 was designed for a 20" bbl so if i could use soft points or ballistic tips i would but the geneva convention prevents that

  • whoever said the millitary no longer uses m16s is full of shit i deploy in feb with 2nd reg n half my company has an m16

  • LOOL what DA where is target ?? jenkint on syvältä osaisivat edes katsoa mihin kuuliaaan syytävät :P

  • Does anyone know how they can tell if their rounds are on target? Is there a forward observer correcting them after each pull of the lanyard? It has always been a mystery to me watching war movies how the artillery could be so accurate, especially naval artillery. And why were they firing so fast only to seemingly stop after just four rounds? Was the target destroyed? Interesting but a bit confusing. Thanks.

  • whoever called in the artillery gives the coordinates of where the presents need to be dropped and where they are in relation to said target and from there trajectory is done out by the people controlling the artillery and the radio operator on the receiving end of the artillery confirms artillery hit and clears it or says repeat for another barrage

  • Yeah, there are some 'forward observer' kind of guys. Those guys would be a 13F Fire Support Specialists who are essentially the eyes for the artillery (and air strikes, mortar, naval bombardment, blahblahblah). They are always within sight of their intended target and relay the coordinates back to the 13D guy who then tells the 13B cannon crew where to shoot.

Since the 13F guys can see where the strikes are hitting, they can easily send refined coordinates if the shots are off.

  • The Forward Observer is usuaily with each infantry unit at least at company level. And the Mission only called for 4 rounds, so they only fired four. If more were required, the Forward Observer would specify a Repeat and the crew would fire another four rounds. Or the 13F (or whomever is calling for Fire Support) could call for another Firemission with a different type of round to compleate the required Mission.

  • @darkangel31314

Where is the forward observer? Is he alone, with others...

How does he get to a position to where he can see where the rounds hit...?

  • anybody know how close artillery guys get to the fight? And do they get M4's or M16's also?

  • they are in the rear with the gear most of the time because artillery can shoot over such long distances and they get m4's the military no longer uses m16's

  • thats cool, but then why in boot camp are they given M16's to qualify on?

  • they are surplus rifles that were previously used in wars

  • oo thank you

  • they are just old as shit thats all and are worth about 100 dolla but if you could take one legally and sell it you could get 5k easily class 3 is top dollar these days

  • be carful dont get a hit from that big recoil

    holy shit

  • ill be doing that in about 10 months. I ship out hella late. Oct. 11 2010 to boot camp. Then Ill prolly do artillery for 6 months since were withdrawing in 2011. Simper fi to all and to all a goodnight.

  • don't count on that 2011 draw down date man. trust me. heard all that shit before, still didnt leave on time. good luck and the best to ya man, but be prepared to spend more time in theater that ya plan. always how it goes lol.

  • artillery truly is the god of war. FUCK YEAH!

  • this is what i want to do in the army

  • 13Bravo Youll be sent to ft sill

  • do it then mate, dont let any1 stop you, its not hard

  • BIG powder bags

  • Thats called Super 8, or 8 stick...

  • what kind of range can you get with one of those?

  • Speaking of which..have you ever seen the footage from the fifties of the First atomic cannon?. Surreal .

  • I'd like for you guys to do a fire mission on my neighbors house. He won't turn his porch light off at night. It's made of wood only - perhaps a concrete footer is all. But I guess it could be made of steel and it wouldn't matter with a piece like that. Make it 3 rounds like that for good measure - oh and thank you !

  • my mos hooah the cambumbos

  • is that a 155mm heavy artillery?

and ive always wanted to know how they aim the dam things?

  • a forward observer sends the cordinates for the fire mission to the fire direction center where they interprite the data into settings the gunners can understand. they use a device called a colimeter to primarilly orient the traverse of the gun but somtimes aiming stakes are used the elevation is determined by a quadrint

  • WTF

  • what, where is the trigger on this thing?

  • they use a long cord know as a lanyard that pulls arm that is connected to a firing mechanism

  • And there is a 50 ft. lanyard for the Nuclear Capable 155MM round. It is the last round the cannon will ever fire...

  • who told you that

  • Only few Artillerymen even know about them. We used to have one on my gun. Only a few people were put on W48 gun crews, we had to have top secret security clearances, (I probably shouldn't even be telling you this.) and extensive F.B.I. background checks. We had one in kuwait. The W48 155-millimeter nuclear artillery shell is a last resort. The S.O.P. calls for whole crew to load up in humV, use 50 Ft lanyard. and after pulling the lanyard, speed off other way, no look in rear view mirror...

  • i looked it up and the W48 was used in the M109 Paladin and the M114 guns not the M198 and the only shell i know of for the M198 is the XM454 and at my unit we had the TM for that shell but we read it like a comic and just laughed at the idea of it also the W48 was made from 1965 to 1969 and around a 1000 were made of both mods and it yielded around 72 tons so your either old or just a man with a paper asshole

  • Nope just an old broken down "Red Leg" who used to advance party and number 1and pull the gun in at 0 mils, when the driver bumped the side of the gun into my chest, and sling the breech open with one arm, poured steel rain on three different continents. "My motto was, Have Gun will travel" The W48 comes along for the ride only in certain guns, and could be used in the M109's as well as the 198's. I gamble it's out there in someones gun right now... M48 was basis for 50 ft. lanyard.

  • Sgt Reynolds here from Tango in '02. Harrison has by far the best and only trademarked standby-fire dance ever. I'll keep yellin if y'all keep shellin.

    Semper Fi

  • @mrwrap2 WHAT IS THAT A 155 , IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE A 105

    RD I WORKED WITH 105 AND 155 C1'10 CUBA&THE MED 74-75 8",155'S 1ST 8" PLT IRON MIKE 3/12 76 OKINAWA FIRED THE 8"IN JAPAN,KOREA

  • @cooper6ppc They are shooting 155mm. The cannon is the 198. It's what became before the 777.

  • that must be really loud

  • Best Section Chief stand by fire dance I have seen in a long time. Bravo! Powder man needs to get his gear on however!

  • Powder Man need to get his gear on and the Chief has one of the best Stand By Fire Dances I have ever seen! Bravo

  • nice

  • how far can a howitzer shoot a round and which is the most destructive can anyone advise

  • 8-Inch Howitzer can shot a target upto 15 miles away.

  • Correction!

22 miles with a charge eight red bag with rocket assist round

  • DPICM in effect. Splash out.

  • I can't wait. This is going to be my MOS.

  • gun bunny.. FIST

  • im leavin 2 boot camp in jan for 82nd airborne artillery hoooooahhhhhhh!!!!!!!

  • wouldnt want to be hit by the recoil off of that

  • king of battle!!!

  • nice arty. u americans hav got the best.

  • see the spades dig into the ground? thats so cool the recoil on those fuckers!!

  • a howitzer like that (155 mm) is fired by pulling a rope with a s-hook on it. 105 mm are fired by pulling a small lever.

and we dont use wax in our ears. we use the little yellow foam things, if anything at all. got to be able to hear. the noise really isnt that bad.

  • and if those aren't available we use our fingers. Been doing Artillery for 17 years now and still love it!!!!

  • How exactly do you fire a towed howitzer? Do you pull a wire or do you have to kick a lever?

  • probably like a normal howitzer

  • actually a wire i see them pullin a wire

  • I heard that they put wax in their ears to block out the sound.

  • nah just small ear plugs

  • Oh, I see. I'm guessing the earplugs are made out of hardened jell.

  • yep

  • They need a autoloader like FCS-MGV NLOS-C

  • That's why there is something called "self-propelled howitzers" and "tanks" you can call in.

  • mike thern so we have 4 transmissions in a call for fire now?

  • LOL at 0.53sec the breach almost takes out his nuts. GIVE'm Hell boys!

  • Slow crew....army ftw

  • Wow, that takes a lot of crew to operate. They need a NLOS-C

  • M777 cannon needs 7 men to handle for 5 rounds per min

  • thats reaching out and touching someone.

  • A25, this is B20, adjust fire over. Grid 456 230 over. Enemy platoon in the open, over. HE in effect, over.
