  • No way.

  • ty for this video, didn't know they forced the nazi pigs down the roads. doesn't matter if you were forced to join n kill, u choosed to join instead o flike (example: Sophie Scholl) fight it however you could n not be a part of the masses that killed 20million people in soviet, and over 50million people elsewhere. Rather be dead and proud than a filthy pig responsible for the deaths of almost 1/10th of a billion people!

  • I enjoyed seeing the Soviets parading the captured German scumbag prisoners thru the city of Leningrad. Those fucking Huns did NOT look like the "Master Race" to me.

  • Have some empathy and curb the racism, for your own sake. Not every German agreed with Hitler. The vast majority of them were conscripted for fear of being executed (the same with the Russians).

Hitler and Stalin are the ones who ought to garner derision, not their pawns.

  • More than enough Germans agreed with Hitler; the overwhelming majority did. The only thing Germans regret about WWII is losing it. My hatred for the 3rd Reich has nothing to do with racism;it's all political. My support for the brave Russians at Leningrad doesn't make me a commie. It makes me a Nazi hater who is a capitalist. Empathy? Like shit. Those bastards methodically murdered 6 million of my people plus 6,000,000 innocent Christians and you want empathy? Wise up,kangaroo brain.

  • @Astrowater,what do you mean by, " The Russians killed even more people than Nazi Germany?"

  • Stalin was responsible for the deaths of many more than Hitler. However, both men have evil natures. None of the two are good people.

  • @Astrowater, what? Hitler was responsilbe for the deaths of TWENTY MILLION RUSSIANS out of 60,000,000 total deaths from all causes. Stalin caused the deaths of 60 million persons? Where do you get your figures from, a toilet?

  • Firstly, you are saying that I said things that I never did. I never claimed he killed 60 million. Hitler killed around 12 million of his own people while there are many estimates which mark it as high as 30 million while I believe it to be around 20 million.

  • @39rc6cf

    1.000.000.000 million persons!!!!!!!

  • @Astrowater , discuss historical facts, not nonsensical historical revisionism.

  • @39rc6cf

Your English is quite good. I avoid saying that the higher numbers, like 60 million are true, because that seems unlikely. However, it is clear that Stalin certainly killed more than Adolf Hitler, seeing as he murdered millions of Ukrainians, without a real, responsible reason. He killed approximately half of those murdered in the Holocaust, in that genocide alone. Neither Josef Stalin or Adolf Hitler were good men.

  • @Astrowater, you write that Stalin killed 3 of the 6 million Jews murdered in the Holocaust? Gee what a revelation. Do you realize you're the only person in the world who knows about it? Tell me, are you ON something or just smoking something because buddy, you ain't right in the head.

  • @39rc6cf

There was an error in the way I communicated the message. That is not what I said at all. What I mean is, in the Ukrainian genocide, he killed that number.

  • @Astrowater , I unxderstand now. Yes, Stalin was a murderous bastard but let's not forget he was OUR murderous bastard from 6/22/41 until Hitler went kaput and the refusal of the Soviets under him to cave was of utmost importance in our winning the European theater of war.

  • @39rc6cf

Indeed. This is true, but a lot of the murders were unnecessary. Like silencing those who did not believe the Soviets would win in the beginning of the war on the Eastern Front. They were still fighting, just expressed their beliefs. The NKVD is nasty.

  • didn't watch tv. Of cause capitalists always want to down communism. my argument. Stalin killed 4-5 million people. In USA in 30th was crisis if you remember. In ten years 6 million americanes died, but nobody talk about it.

  • I agree- it is like not every Soviet agreed with Stalin. People do not go to war because they want to, average soldier was forced.

  • Stalin (1951): we have to decrease work day of workers to the 5-7 hours. They have to spend more time for relax, sport, art, hobbies, education, family, ...

Friberge (2000, Latvian president who escaped from Red Army from Latvia with parents and nazi and became Canadian): we created law. workers can work now 10 hours. So they can earn more money

  • I do love this city. It's beautiful. WW2 nearly destroyed it but the spirit of people wasn't broken. Everything that connects with war is awful but Leningrad could save the evidences of it's courage in every corner. Though I'm proud of the fact that i'm from Moscow but it can't stop me from loving SPb. Thank you for this movie. Natural sound makes the impression deeper and touching.

  • By the work of Matvienko the city is being destroyed :( If she stays in power for a few more years there will be not a single original building left on Nevsky.

  • i'm giving you another minus not because being myself a moskvitch, but because you humiliate my nation by humiliating english speaking fellas

  • does anyone know who danil xarms was? he was a russian poet who was classified as "absurdist" and was hated by the soviet authorities along with his circle of intelligentsia because they did not support the revolution.

  • in modern russia he is well respected and many of his poems can be found in books but back in 1942, he along with others was left to starve in prison during the blockade so that the food could be distributed to other recipients. danil xarms was a victim of the blockade like so many others, but he was also a victim of stalin's terrible incarceration network.

  • hey, i once played in a thater piece back at university, based on his poems (They´re published in a collection called "Die Fälle", means, "the Cases"). I am german, in Germany he is spelled Daniil Charms. Thank you for remembering me, I nearly forgot!

  • if you use that spelling "daniil charms" you can also find some vids on youtube using his poems.

  • i see the little stalinists have been using their thumbs of denial.

  • I can't imagine what those germans felt..

  • amazing footage ..

  • My heart aches for the Russian people.

Leningrad was so beautiful before WWII.

Nobody's world was the same, not even ours in the USA...

  • St Petersburg is also beautiful I was there in 1994

  • Thank you for introducing this movie.
