i just made an awesome deal. i got a 60 dollar usa forest axe online from Garret Wade . co m and the handle got loose after three logs, so i returned it and theyre sending me a free wetterlings forest axe thats normally 118 dollars in exchange. lol, im pumped!!
Hey, when paring small bits, try laying the wood down with the blade at the furthest point, central to the wood,, pick the whole thing up with the axeblade resting still on the wood...when it hits the stump it will split...far safer way of paring wood!
You should try not to strike the axe in the block when you're reaching for a new or repostioning the piece of wood. Over time the top of the edge will wear away and you'll need to do much more extra sharpening to keep the shape of the edge. It's a bad habbit that is good to train away.
Nice vid! You are surprisingly articulate for a 14 year old. Most of the young dudes on You Tube are too quiet, mumble & slur their words & generally unprepared. I like both companies because they produce high quality axes. But, the deal you got on the Wetterlings was incredible. Nice job, dude.
I had to vote for the Wetterlings...=) It costs in Sweden somewhere around 26 and 36 dollar depending on where you buy it and that's the ordinary price for a Wetterlings buchcraft axe just like the one you have in your video...=) I like that one a lot and the most of them has oil on the handle when you buy them...
good video

good video allot better than the other kids your age are putting on here..
Something to remember though you were comparing an axe and a hatchet which is why one was better for certain tasks than the other
