That's funny. Did anyone else catch the fact when they showed the dolphins-bills score on the screen they had the miami dolphins as a NFC team?!! bdog
The highlight shown at the start of the vid is Stanford tying No. 1 USC, 21-21. That would cost USC, which finished 11-0-1, the national title. CFB highlights actually weren't plentiful back then so the NFL pregame shows started showing a couple each week. The Old Style commercials always make me think of SNL. In the last 1/2 hour of SNL, our local channel would run the long version of that commercial, with the word "Kreusening" said 7 times accompanied by the signature horn riff.
I loved the 1pm central starts. Minnesota & Green Bay would start some of their home games at 1pm, & the Baltimore Colts would start some at 2pm (1pm) central too. I remember Brent Musberger saying when the 1st halves of the 1pm games ran long to the National Audience. "We are pre game show, Post game show, and now a half time show". Some games would end early & combine with the 3pm central pre games & the 1pm games running late. The NFL now has one main show for openings for 12pm games.
Nope. I'm positive this aired before the Patriots-Bears game that day (started at 1 p.m. Central). I know this because it NBC broadcasted interconference games in which the NFC team was the home team, and because of the commercials for Old Style Beer, which is sold mostly in the Chicago area. In those days, it was common for midwest teams to kickoff at 1 p.m. Central if the network carrying the game did not have a double-header. By the way, Baltimore did have some 1 p.m. ET kickoffs back then.
This must have aired before an Baltimore Colts home game because their home games didn't start 'til 2:00 pm ET because of an Maryland "Blue" law at the time!
@oc61579 That is the only possible explanation. Nobody believes me when I say that I remember Colts home games ending around 5 pm Eastern, because they didn't start till 2. When did they abolish the blue law?
Only right that Wilt Chamberlain was driving a Rabbit since he screwed like one when he was alive. He was da' man on and off the court.

Marv Levy had the Chiefs going in the right direction. I think that he was fired a year too early.

0:01-0:22 That was USC's only blemish on that 1979 season. They went on to upset Undefeated and Untied Ohio State 17-16 in the Rose Bowl.

Just 27 years later Marv Levy would go on to become perhaps the worst general manager in Buffalo Bills history.

I think I see why Bryant had to emphasize the 49ers-Giants total being the "right score" due to it looking more like a baseball total.
There would be no confusion as to what the score looked like at the end; with New York winning 32-16.

@larrymelman they began at 2:00 until they left after 83...when the Ravens began play in 1996 they used the standard 1:00 start.
