The beer is bland spent dishwater and the ad is basically saying it's A-OK for straight men to feel super uncomfortable around gay men. That's pathetic and just not funny. As a straight man I find these kinds of commercials super insulting to my gay buds. Foster's, you're weak in every way imaginable.

I'd agree with you about the beer, and I'm an Aussie myself. But I fail to see subtext or connotations to homophobia or hetero-supremacy. It sounds to me like you're projecting an aspect of your own psyche onto the advert, maybe because you feel it's an opportunity to reaffirm your own beliefs about tolerance, or maybe because you feel a sense of shame or dishonour perpetrated against you by the homophobic element of your own heterosexual peers. I could be wrong of course.

@sammehsaladpants, Hey mate. I'm a Brit living in WA and what I've found is that Fosters tastes like weak piss in Aus, but it tastes pretty good in the UK! It's advertised as an Aussie beer, but all the ingredients for the one over there are from the UK, on top of it being made over there! It's funny, you cant even find it in alot of bottle-o's in Aus :)
