Her ribbon didn't stop from moving did it? She just missed the element of catching back the ribbon stick by foot after throwing it during the penche turns..as you can watch in other videos. This element had been deducted from her difficulty score and execution score..

Kanaeva should have gotten silver here, not gold. Her execution score is not correct, judges did not take all the deductions considering her mistakes. @HaydeeMary No, its actually a very difficult routine. Evgenia MAKES it look simple;) thats what makes the difference between being truly great from good. The secret of a great gymnast is to make it look easy, and she does make it look easy;)
@ralucagymnast I think her combinations are not that hard again...barely has jumps...lots of turns in this particular routine..I think the reason why she's is a fav of many its ccause she has one of the best schools...which its russia..but i dont see the same passion that i see in other gymnast..like a routine that exites me..there's a big difference..but that's my opinion
@HaydeeMary You do know that each apparatus requires different elements dont you? With ribbon its all about turns and pivots to show the apparatus handling. Hoop requires all of the elements, rope requires leaps, clubs has to show handling and leaps, and ball requires lots of flexibility elements. Thats why you see a lot of turns, spins, pivots and pirouettes in ribbon as that is what is required.

@1998azizi Even in Beijing, her score were inflated. SHe deserved her AA gold, she would have won anyways but not with 3 point of difference. There, she walked on the ribbon, and made a mistake at the beginning. Then, she couln't perfom one of the difficulty, plus low releve on some pivots. They put the same execution than Besso, so it looks more fair but they bumped the artistry score. But the execution score should be lower. Viner has lots of influence on judges.
@1998azizi Why do u think, gymnasts coming from countries supporting Vinner like garayeva, or even lately Mistroz, who are not as good as the ukrainians and the belarussians (who are not with Vinner) sometimes get higher score than better gymnasts than them? I'm impressed by what she had done in making the "mistake" to become the element in her choreography naturally~ However, this has caused huge deduction in her D Score~ I think it's fair enough for her, and Besso~ What I wish is, both of them got same DAE score~ so that there wont be arguments on it~ :(
i really do like kanaeva, and i have to say she is much better at ball than bessonova, but bessonova is sooooo much better at ribbon and definitely deserved gold.
Aww she is so good but Anna was a little better. I don't know how to say this but actually the two are really closely-matched in skills. Anna has good leaps, rhythm and of course her sweet charm while Evgenia has good pirouettes, is more flexible and has grace and a flow in motion. Anna is suited for ribbon and rope, while Evgenia is great on the ball and clubs. They're both awesome with the club. Haha just saying.

Anyway, Anna Bessonova is always the symbol of rhythmic gymnastics. She win our heart by grace and elegance. Anna kept her head high throughout the competition and fought as hard with the routines as she did to hold back her tears. This is the sign of a true champion, who keeps fighting no matter what the odds.

This routine was more difficult than Anna’s?? OMG! I should say that Anna’s ribbon routine was much more difficult than Kanaeva’s. A full-of-art routine. She should get more marks in difficulty, artistic and execution. Kanaeva's throw-and-catch wasn't special at all. Don't you hear the audience's scream every time Anna threw and caugth her ribbon? So breathtaking! Throw and catch continuosly, that was really difficult. Anna’s choreography was so amazing. So much creation.
But she got more artistic than Anna????? From 2:33 to 2:45 is the most terrible. She stepped on her ribbon at 2:53. She did the same pivot at the beginning and 1:13 and 1:39. Her pirouettes from 2:53 were so ugly and not very skilled. I think she should learn pirouettes from Anna. Anna did attractive and flawless pirouettes. The judges ate Russian money, so they were blind. The judges thought RG was Russian gymnastics. Anyone wins, Kanaeva loses.
A double illusion repeated in her 4 routines. Kanaeva always perform mannered but lack– of– emotion routines! The difficulty means nothing if the audience can’t feel her soul, you know?
Look at Kanaeva's face from 0:33 to 0:39 and her affected smile at 0:38, so terrible. She wanted to tell the judges : "Give me gold or I'll teach you a lesson". At the beginning, Kanaeva's ribbon was just like a rag (when she tangled her ribbon). A rag for a dirty girl. Her pivot at the beginning was so ridiculous. Her leotard was rustic, like a clown. No creation in Kanaeva’s routine, the movements was so mannered and boring. We has seen it many times in Kanaeva’s routines.

Not this time, many times Anna had to cry. When you look at her face, you'll know it was really a sin. Remember Beijing 2008! You should know that at Beijing : "In the finals, two days later, Anna’s marks were so low that the judges called a fairly long meeting in the middle of the competition, to evaluate why her marks were so low. As a result of this, the superior judges raised the incorrect mark given by the judges". “Incorrect mark” at the Olympics, why?????
Kanaeva is a great gymnast, right now she is the best, if she doesn't make mistakes she deserves to win always, but this routine had a big mistake and she should not have been the ribbon world champion in Mie, not at all, and I think it damaged her more than benefit, considering she was the world champion at the AA and that was ok.

Zhenya's triple ring pirouette is so spectacular and DIFFICULT though; just that element alone is more difficult than the whole of Anya's routine. I do love Anya, but she just doesnt use her back at all, and in this code of points,you cannot win if you dont include flexibility elements.
If you analyse D1 values from both gymnast's, you will see that both of them have 10.0 values for ribbon, so the one who executes the best is the one that deserves the gold

Hoop requires all of the elements, rope requires leaps, clubs has to show handling and leaps, and ball requires lots of flexibility elements. Thats why you see a lot of turns, spins, pivots and pirouettes in ribbon as that is what is required.

@1998azizi Even in Beijing, her score were inflated. SHe deserved her AA gold, she would have won anyways but not with 3 point of difference. There, she walked on the ribbon, and made a mistake at the beginning. Then, she couln't perfom one of the difficulty, plus low releve on some pivots. They put the same execution than Besso, so it looks more fair but they bumped the artistry score. But the execution score should be lower. Viner has lots of influence on judges.

@1998azizi Why do u think, gymnasts coming from countries supporting Vinner like garayeva, or even lately Mistroz, who are not as good as the ukrainians and the belarussians (who are not with Vinner) sometimes get higher score than better gymnasts than them? I'm impressed by what she had done in making the "mistake" to become the element in her choreography naturally~ However, this has caused huge deduction in her D Score~ I think it's fair enough for her, and Besso~ What I wish is, both of them got same DAE score~ so that there wont be arguments on it~ :(

Aww she is so good but Anna was a little better. I don't know how to say this but actually the two are really closely-matched in skills. Anna has good leaps, rhythm and of course her sweet charm while Evgenia has good pirouettes, is more flexible and has grace and a flow in motion. Anna is suited for ribbon and rope, while Evgenia is great on the ball and clubs. They're both awesome with the club. Haha just saying.

This routine was more difficult than Anna’s?? OMG! I should say that Anna’s ribbon routine was much more difficult than Kanaeva’s. A full-of-art routine. She should get more marks in difficulty, artistic and execution. Kanaeva's throw-and-catch wasn't special at all. Don't you hear the audience's scream every time Anna threw and caugth her ribbon? So breathtaking! Throw and catch continuosly, that was really difficult. Anna’s choreography was so amazing. So much creation.

But she got more artistic than Anna????? From 2:33 to 2:45 is the most terrible. She stepped on her ribbon at 2:53. She did the same pivot at the beginning and 1:13 and 1:39. Her pirouettes from 2:53 were so ugly and not very skilled. I think she should learn pirouettes from Anna. Anna did attractive and flawless pirouettes. The judges ate Russian money, so they were blind. The judges thought RG was Russian gymnastics. Anyone wins, Kanaeva loses.

Look at Kanaeva's face from 0:33 to 0:39 and her affected smile at 0:38, so terrible. She wanted to tell the judges : "Give me gold or I'll teach you a lesson". At the beginning, Kanaeva's ribbon was just like a rag (when she tangled her ribbon). A rag for a dirty girl. Her pivot at the beginning was so ridiculous. Her leotard was rustic, like a clown. No creation in Kanaeva’s routine, the movements was so mannered and boring. We has seen it many times in Kanaeva’s routines.

Not this time, many times Anna had to cry. When you look at her face, you'll know it was really a sin. Remember Beijing 2008! You should know that at Beijing : "In the finals, two days later, Anna’s marks were so low that the judges called a fairly long meeting in the middle of the competition, to evaluate why her marks were so low. As a result of this, the superior judges raised the incorrect mark given by the judges". “Incorrect mark” at the Olympics, why?????

Kanaeva is a great gymnast, right now she is the best, if she doesn't make mistakes she deserves to win always, but this routine had a big mistake and she should not have been the ribbon world champion in Mie, not at all, and I think it damaged her more than benefit, considering she was the world champion at the AA and that was ok.

at my point of view this sport now puts difficulty over artististry so everybody have to recognize in difficulty Kanaeva is a lot better than Bessonova, and think that without mistake her difficulty score surely was to be better, and remember that in artistic side also gives value to music, maillot and not just handlig of the apparatus, it's seems kanaeva has over her head and shoulders the stigma of being russian... since beijing are people throwin shit of her at any cost!

Anna and kanaeva had the same score in diffcult and execution. And kanaeva had 0.1 more than besso on artistic, so, is really notorious that anna deserved gold medal on ribbon.

Se que fue un error muy marcado el del inicio pero es como decir que el lanzamiento con el pie de bessonova en atenas 2004 era suficiente para sacarla del podio... fueron errores pero supieron resolver las gimnastas y eso no permitio que bajaran mas las notas!

im a both fan of bessonova and kanaeva and i wont deny the fact that bessonova;s ribbon routine was better than kanaeva. that's just my opinion.. kanaeva's mistakes were realy obvious..i dont know what happened to the judges..i think they have to be fair,and be objective sometimes. .of course every gymnast has her own weaknesses and strength and in kanaeva's ribbon,i think this s biased

Zhenya's triple ring pirouette is so spectacular and DIFFICULT though; just that element alone is more difficult than the whole of Anya's routine. I do love Anya, but she just doesnt use her back at all, and in this code of points,you cannot win if you dont include flexibility elements.

If you analyse D1 values from both gymnast's, you will see that both of them have 10.0 values for ribbon, so the one who executes the best is the one that deserves the gold

si miras el video d la cinta d kanaeva y el d bessonova seguidos, t das cuenta dl tongo k ay en las competicions, k casualidad k anna se kede a una sola decima x detrás d evgenia sin haber fallado... . Además opino k el ejercicio d kanaeva es muy simple, d niña pekeña k no sabe manejar la cinta pero k tiene la suerte d ser rusa, una gimnasta mimada por las jueces. Mientras k el ejercicio d anna es d gimnasta experimentada, elegante y cn una calidad técnica inigualable en tods ls sentids
