people are suprized how capable the new kias are. they did a offroad on road test in four wheel drive magazine and the kia beat out the new toyota fj in offroad prawlness. they used that to bash toyota more than to praise kia.

i've read sumwhere that the rear axle of the 2002 and before model of the sportage are not strong and that the chasis is not very reliable

@ElQawad Very not true. The strongest of Sportages are from 95-02' which is the 1st gen. They are box frame solid rear axle, real 4x4 like a real truck! The 2nd gen is more housewife aimed. It's not 4x4 but AWD (primarily FWD) and it's unibody (no frame). I'll post a response video of mine.

@panicmech Yeah, the newer Sportages aren't good for offroading. But the 1st gen are just as good as any jeep, if you equip the Sportage with bigger tires and a lift.

Lynrd Skynrd 'Mean Streets'. Nice video! Didn't know a Kia could hang with a LR Defender and Cherokee. That Cherokee with the winch is nice. 4" of lift maybe??
